1.
I've got a Surveyor 415, which is basically the same as the current Surveyor 5 but a couple of years older. It's a nicely built and finished bass, but it's as subtle as a forging press, and I can't get it to be happy with anything other than super-low action on an absolutely straight neck. Basically it's a metal machine, but coming from ESP, loaded with EMG pickups and preamp, I don't find that at all surprising. Would I recommend it? Difficult to say, really.. if you know what you're getting and that's all you'll ever want then I'm sure you'd be happy, but those wanting an all-rounder might quite rapidly find that whilst it sells versatility with the P / MM (split to J) + 3 band EQ setup, and those tones are all present (and, for what it's worth, quite accurate) the bass itself precludes their use in a vast number of settings. I tried to use it for an acoustic rock project a couple of weeks ago, and it was about as appropriate as singing your kids to sleep through a loudhailer.
I'm pretty sure it's a 414 that the chap from Karma to Burn plays - a great rock bass, but like others of it's ilk (thinking back to the Jacksons and Charvels of this world) perhaps not going to fit into every setting. Still, I love Karma to Burn, so big thumbs up from me
2. Traded a bass with Dave - great comms throughout; took more shots to ensure I'd seen the bass before meeting; and all very smooth on the trade itself. Cheers Dave, a pleasure to meet and have a natter this morning!
3.
I would only buy it if you're fairly sure that you'll use. I don't think there's a massive market for 2nd hand 6s.
A good point. There's not a massive market for much at the moment! I'd push hard for a deal, on your terms...
4. Cosmo - who is that? I've not heard that in years, great post!
5. I didn't find anything authentic on Earth. But I did find this authentic collection of all things authentically alien. Or something. Something authentic.
6. Thanks guys, some great suggestions there - and a couple of people have dropped me PMs to suggest I might to buy theirs... so the hunt is afoot. Ta for the help all, much appreciated Also, gold star for you all! Careful, the edges are sharp - the last time I gave one out some kid in Off Topic nearly lost an eye on it.
7. Found you a showcase vid, chief, so you can have a little listen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q74i_XNfjTE Beyond that, I know nothing - sorry!
8.
Why do people ask about a bass then bugger off without responding to your answer?!
It's the done thing, you see. Responding would be... well, unseemly. A gentleman bassist should always enquire about basses he can ill afford, or has no intention of buying, before taking to flight.
9. Sorry to hear that, Bassman, hope you're ok lah.
10. This thread is going down the plughole.
11. To the top!
12. Back again! As per the description, I'm having a punt at something else - and I'll know the outcome in 4 days. If I get it, this needs to go. Sale price start at £300, but let's have a chat - can be flexible!
13.
He's wanting around £1200, also is there any way I can move this post to the 'For Sale' forum or will/do I have to make a new post?
I'm sure a mod would move it - ask Machines or PantherAirsoft. Looks a stunning bass. Market has been quite depressed for Warwicks, so unsure what he could get - if he wants £1,200... Well, business hat on, start at £1,300 and get talking to people
14. Are they any good for metal?
15. If this is turning into a "For Sale" thread you'll need a price, Jaz.

Traded

If selling, what price would you be after?
17. I quite like a mix of the following:

The Fall - Blindness
Pantera - Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills
Weedeater - Wizard Fight
When playing, either with the band or for myself, I tend to like either a little grit and distortion or the overblown fuzz. Never the twain shall meet, mind. Plenty of good tones out there, including some super silky ones; but when playing I like it dirty, ooh er.
18. Ad, in the first picture... did you Photoshop your singer's head on?
19. If I had to ask, it'd be oh, yer play base, lah? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIhFwLjsQug
20.
The Folk section (never guess my parents were folkies would you...)
You know you've got quite a collection when you can organise it by music-genre All very nice stuff chief, thanks for sharing.
21. That's very cool, chief - a 5-string Jag-a-like
22. Madness - but good luck with the sale, it can only be minutes away!
23. The dye is lifting when wet? At the risk of ruining it, could you not keep it wet and work out the remainder of the dye?
24. Lads, do we have a preference when it comes to comfort straps? I spied some Gibson ones in town, but they were priced around £80 - I know, I know, you can't put a price on a good back; but 80 notes! I could have an ok back a few pints for that Do we have any recommendations? Was trying to find a wide leather strap, but I know some prefer more modern fabrics and padding sewn in, etc. In any case I would need a long one (oooh er) as I'm quite the tall chappy.
