1.
I'm down we can always create a new modern April 1st How's the 11th work for you?
In the words of the only Yorkshireman in Star Trek: make it so.
2. I can vouch for the Vox Amplug - clip it in, run your iPhone headphones as well, and rock out. Great for simple, no fuss playing when volume isn't an option.
3.
Nothing amusing about not getting a T-40 - it is very real.
I didn't get a T40, and I can confirm that I am not amused. I was offered the act of passion on the morning of April Fool's - but biology provided the punch line
4.
There is a difference between composing and arranging. If composer comes in with fully written charts with all the parts written out, you are playing his song. If someone brings in a sketch of a composed song and then everyone else chips in their own parts, you would expect a token royalty (main composer gets 40%, everyone else 5%). If it is brought in as a set of chords and the singer adds a melody, the bass player a middle eight and the drummer an istrumental break then it is more likely to be a band song with 4 even shares. But its all open to negotiation and legal challenge. Best sort it out before you write Bohemian Rhapsody: The Return. In jazz, it used to be very common for agents or bandleaders to get a share of the royalties of songs they had no part whatsoever in writing. Its a difficult area and fraught with pitfalls.
This is pretty much how we play it - as a result, we have a lot of 'band' tracks; with a smattering of those brought in by individuals... the bulk of them from me, pleasingly But yes, sometimes it can feel a little forced or pushy to be discussing credits when you're in the early days of a band - you've other things on your mind; you're having fun; you've no idea where it all might go... but it's best to get some form of agreement in place, good and early. Pity you had such a divergence with the guitarist. I'm not sure entirely where it leaves you with him, but I think you'll want to get it nailed - I mean, you wouldn't want him swanning off and assuming your best material is his to do with as he pleases, if it genuinely isn't.
5.
Not me, I just sent pics and recordings.
I just sent the pics. Thong and a smile, nothing says "I'm interested" better
6. I think it would look better with some stickers on it, to make it unique and sound louder. It's a pity the 1st April has passed off - surely someone has a cheap(er) pink Jazz, and we could have had some royal fun with Talkbass
7.
the fella from the smiths...
Johnny Marr?

9. Jealous as a very jealous thing - awesome bass Machines, congrats; and impeccable taste
10. Naturally, we expect you to clean it up and give us some nice pics Junes not far off, should be here in no time!
11. A great metal player! Geddit?!?! I'll get my coat.
12. I wonder which one this was, as I was looking at a couple of Ebay - red burst with case, maybe? They are great basses. Built of super-heavy dark matter, but great basses
13. Very nice chief, liking that
14. I can't imagine Derek Acorah is very busy these days...
15. Slightly unrelated, what was the price Lorne had on his Lynott-used Mockingbird?
16.
An odd town in some ways.
Only some?
17. I think I need a new laptop, as running my DI is gash at the moment - something to investigate this weekend. I'm still a little back-to-basics of mic and amp
18. That's very nice Spider - what are you recording/mixing with?
19. I enjoy how this lad makes it look easy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mol6awk_aDo

sold

If people haven't come across Grassroots before, they were a sub-brand of ESP - a budget-line offered to the Japanese market. They're pretty much on a par with the LTDs, from what I've seen.
21. Sounds like a complete bell end - and, in a way, I'm very glad they didn't make a £2k sale if that's how they run their business.
22. Holy moly, Sean - that's absolutely stunning. I love the vintage white. Sadly, I think £2300 will be too rich for me.
23.
Been keeping an eye on Andertons website to see when they get stock of these. None in yet, but price has jumped from £229 to £299 for the 4-string, and from £249 to £329 for the 5-string.
Yep, I can't see a one @ £249
24. There are always plenty on Ebay - including some real bargains. Was eyeing up a 614 and a 424, which are not far off ending. If they remain in bargain territory I might well take the plunge. Lots of very underrated basses out there.
25. I voted H, as it's the only one I've played substantively - and very much enjoy it. I think I'd quite like an HS in future. My Lakland 44-02 has the same set-up, and it would be interesting to see what Ernie Ball could make of it - probably with loads more growl, which can only be a good thing
