1.
The other thing that strikes me from some of the comments you read regarding Rickenbackers is that what a lot of people who try them really want is a Ric-shaped P-Bass.
Bam. My name is John Hall, and I'm a PC.

    I love my BB414
Oh, I'm really sorry about that. Did you drop it in front of a speeding bus?
Bam! Is the 614 active?
  3. The pub landlord ones are brilliant - so f***ing true
  4. Twig, if you search, I started a thread on the same topic about a month ago - some excellent suggestions in there, also; some of which are repeated here, but it might give you more opinions to think about.
  5.
Urgh, don't you just hate bulging 'outy' belly buttons? Or am I just a prejudiced bellybuttonist bigot?
They do catch on slab-sided basses. Something Basschat'ers should be aware of.
  6.
I am looking for a wide ( 3"+) , padded leather strap for my bass (what else would it be for?) There seem to be few out there and what there is is frighteningly expensive ( £80 seems like a lot of dosh).... I normally use a 2" nylon thing but find that after a couple of hours on stage it can cut into my shoulder..... so I thought a wider strap would be a good idea. I am not going to fork out £80 on an unknown quantity. What do you recommend?
I use one of these - as you'll see, it spreads the weight quite evenly about the body.
  7.
ouch... remember kids... dont drop your Warwick on its knobs... should be ok mind...
I dropped a mate on his knob once. Didn't walk right for a week. Sure a pro repair will sort it out - though I imagine they'll reinforce the cavity side.
  8.
fixed! Goblin cock - they're on my list.
Amen. Random find, but bloody good Happy to trade recommendations if you listen to the same kind of stuff - some of it is pretty niche and tucked away!
  9. Viking Skull when they return to York - you can come and hang out with me and my band! The only requirement is a fundamental ability to buy a round and drink Red Stripe.
  10.
The marvellous thing here is that I'm reading and writing all this sh*t about an exponent of a genre low on my list of musical favourites. Some nice stuff on TB from Silddx, though.
Ditto. On both counts.

    PJ slug out

    +1 for the Jackson.
  12. By 'nice price' I'd say you've got it bang on - this will shift; and I'm sure there's a few of us counting pennies as I type Looks in good nick. I've been a bit greedy, adding a Stingray and Lakland 44-02... so someone else should go for this before I get divorced for shuffling the collection again
  13.
no probs. I've finalised the stickers and will be able to buy stock soon I hope. Straps, lanyards, t shirts and hoodies are in the works but rather than just big standard stuff I'm looking for quality products which takes time but well worth it in the end.
This doesn't fit into the category of "quality products", but if you're able to design up some mugs I'd be interested. And yes, I know we have plenty of mugs on here. I just can't drink out of them
  14.
The only thing however, is that he didn't address one single point I made in my (albeit lengthy) reply to him about his album and listening to music. He decided to use it as a jumping off point to talk about 'trimming off dead weight' and the state of the 'four walled bedroom youtube commenter'.
I wonder if he knows how much of his 'fanbase' is composed of these people. Just a thought.
  15. I've often tried my old girl into jazz. Boom boom.
  16. Does that advice apply across the Schecter range, Red? I've only heard good things from players, but have never tried one.
  17.
Ooh there's nothing worse than a little unwanted finger... noisy or otherwise.
This is well documented fact in Basschat circles. Especially when said finger is cold. Ruins the tone.
  18. Send me a free one and I'll get some 'racy' shots back to you
  19. I assume you're trying Talkbass as well, Terry?
  20.
Being a good musician is a tiny part of being commercially successful.
Bam!
  21.
I hope you are not negatively criticising those of us critics who critique negatively.
As I would take that negatively, and would ask that you criticise those of us critics who critique negatively in a positive way. Just to be clear, as we're all friends here.
  22. Life has a way of balancing these things out, as you note
  23. Why does it have to be down to "marketing well", or some other kind of seemingly underhand perfidy, which is denying otherwise excellent and self-righteous bands the air time? They could be complete sh*te. As long as their mates enjoy turning up; the rest of the crowd enjoy the spectacle; and the band are having a good time, it shouldn't matter. Anything else smacks of the green-eyed monster.
  24.
'their' legal system ? sounds just the same as ours.
We have gotten more like our feckless cousins in recent years, I'll admit.
  25. I've only heard good things about this upgrade. I despise the 3-point bridge - not least as the two examples I've had in my possession, have slipped.
