Apologies for not responding sooner, and I will be checking back regularly from here on in. Maybe I need to put together some kind of BassChat street team to help answer questions when I can't get on here? Let me know if you'd like to get involved. In the meantime, please feel free to give us a call or drop me an email if you've any questions and I'll do all I can to get back to you asap.
That would be a very good idea, Nick - nothing too serious, but find yourself the odd volunteer/advocate who is able to fulfil the role, and drive this section forward.

See... I would go with Maple, but will admit it's an aesthetic choice over anything more fundamental. My current collection seems predicated upon Black or dark basses with Maple fretboards, and it's a look I certainly like - and it does no harm to an already quality instrument.
I spoke to Nick today guys and he's going to come back and look over this thread. He's been really busy and mentioned that he'd like users to email iBass directly about any queries or upsets as he doesn't log into this site every week like a lot of us.
Then why be here? It's a genuine question. People are posting here - they expect replies, as that's how these things work. They're not used to waiting. Nick will just be opening himself up to issues if he's unable to interact with the forum as people expect. I posted a question and no one answered. He's never on here. Nothing seems to be happening, I can't see any updates on the forum. Etc, etc.
He's welcome to post. I'm not sure how forum savvy he is though which looks like its turning out to be a big problem.
Which is a shame, as when you're putting out a small publication, nailing the social media can make all the difference - hence my previous reference about there being some brilliant examples of doing it right. Looking at One&Other.com, which is run by some mates. It can really cut through for you; flirt with it and get it wrong, and you just sink. Like here.
Made me think of this, perhaps yours isn't quite so severe if it is this.
Well, you could build from Ibuprofen to Heroin, if the pain becomes more severe. It's what Keith would do
Lads, sorry to bleat on but I havent played bass for 4 days now and this is definitely improving but swells sometimes especially in the night. Anyone got an idea of how long i should be looking to rest up? Should i start dropping ibuprofen? I wanted to go on a merry jaunt to manchester tomorrow to play some basses and test some amps so will have to just play light with the other fingers. PS if you have any nice plans for tomorrow it will rain cos it always does whenever I'm in Manchester.
Glad to hear of some progress. Swelling in the night can occur with a lot of injuries - you sleep on them; you're not moving; etc. I'd drop Ibuprofen when the discomfort starts. But that's just me. I know what you mean about the boredom. When I broke my arm in 2003, I took a break from then... until 2008. I can't recall if I was w***ing like a Gibbon. I did nearly just type in 'Gibson' there, which just shows I'm all fixed now. The hand still hurts. I can predict snow 24hrs prior through the pain.
Lamb of God are great. Campbell is a very underrated bassist IMO.
I'm of the same opinion - though I find he does often venture into speed and fret w***ery; though that does seem to be the fashion for a lot of that style of music. I think he has a signature Jackson.
Well, it does seem like it when you consider the state my Victory Artist was in when I received it. My G-3 was a mess (as in filthy) and a lot of rash in the back, but it cleaned up OK. My IV was pretty decent, just some of the regular gouges in the back. My RD Artist needed a 0-5-0 knob and the finish was oddly rough to the touch around the body edges but it polished up OK. So I think that 2 fit into that category and 2 don't. Well, you don't need to worry about that Money bass any more, it appears to be sold. Was trying to get the funds together for that, but c'est la vie. There'll be others.
There already is another... albeit on Ebay and for £100 or so more. Couldn't really justify a swoop on the Money, so to speak, either. Yours have all come good in the end, as has this one; and I know I actually enjoyed getting my G3 spick and span... does make you wonder about the journeys some of them have been on!
Eh, I'm no mathematician, but isn't that four?
I'm assuming Warwick's remain unpopular, and thus don't really count - leaving threee basses Why do we even need to have the distinction between collector and player? It feels like there's some snobbery therein, maybe from both sides - I don't see how one wins out over the other. Whilst my personal preference would be to have all of mine played, even if only a little, I can see how other people can find their paths to happiness; I'd find it abhorent that someone would own many guitars and never play them, I don't think my opinion would impinge on his or her happiness; and nor should their opinion impinge on mine. Utlimately, it's your own justification which counts. If you're at the stage of wondering if you have too many, you perhaps have more of the answer than you know

Should we play the Pistols God Save the Queen on St Georges day?
the song is sh*te, I wouldn't bother.
Bam. it's just a song, now. I doubt too many people will get hung up on it, at face value. The punk movement, which was the real cause for contention, is long gone. -
Tom Bombadil? Sounds like you had a blast chief, which is always a good tonic for a dreary Monday morning
Yeah, practice as much as you can privately, but until you play with a band/other musos it's hard to imagine the dynamics and sensitivity required to play (together) in a band situation. It's like a whole other skill.
It is a whole other skill. It's ok learning some covers, but being there and playing with a live drummer is something else.
Wouldn't wire wool be really abrade the finish!? On really gunky guitars, I've used either lem-oil or alcohol wipes (whichever is most appropriate) and a medium plectrum to get it off!
No, not if you're sensible - if you're using it like sandpaper, then yes; you'll get out what you put in. A light scrub will simply remove the dirt. You'll find it's quite a common recommendation on this forum. I wish I had more before-and-after pictures to show you the difference it can make.
Lem-oil for any fretboard (apart from maple!), and whenever I re-string these days I always give the frets a quick once over with Planet Waves Fret Polishing System. Really helps to keep the frets tip-top! If you've got any decent car polish kicking about, it should be fine for the paintwork too.
What are you using on maple, out of interest? Of course, in the long tradition of ask three bass players, get five answers, another player told me never to use Lemon Oil on Rosewood - instead, Linseed Oil should be used. Make of that what you will. I've used a combination of the following before: - Wire wool, to remove gunk (sweat residue, general dirt, decaying lacquer) - Cocktail sticks (to get in along the frets) - Fret polish (gotta have some bling) - A cleaning oil... be it Lemon, Linseed or other, as per your preferences Car polish can work, but be careful of abrasive polishes on some finishes. Mindst you, the Jaq will likely have a clear finish as the top coat, so it's probably just a case of wiping that and buffing to a shine, using a clear polish as appropriate.

Very cool chief, a very unique Gibson. That said, is there a law that people must treat Gibsons like sh*t before they come home to roost on Basschat? You don't often (ever?) see pristine Gibsons (well, apart from the Money Les Paul, but I'm barred from thinking about that by wifely decree).

We need to bring back the 'like' button - this is a good thread; good to see someone enjoying things
There's no such thing as too many bass guitars In fact I doubt if there's even just enough bass guitars...
Bingo. Some will tell you otherwise. Ignore them and be confined only by your own ambitions. Or wallet, the wife has chimed in. Practical things these wives.
You reckon the street lights dim when he turns that lot on?
Well, wiring it into the streetlights is one way of powering that behemoth on a modest budget
I showed my wife that pic and said "Just be glad I'm not after a rig that big.", to which she replied "If you had a room big enough to put it all in then I wouldn't care.". I love that woman.
It's not about size, it's what you do with it
