1. Maybe it's just on Ishi as someone wants to see how much he might get for it, you spiteful c***s*****s. Why don't you channel your negative energies into something more positive, if you have the TIM. I'll be joining Ian in his alcove and hoping people read the other thread
2. Very nice, Shockers
3. Is this the one on Ebay? I had it under watch - I don't think £199 would be all that bad. I seem to recall these going for around £450 new/new-ish. You can always search the forum here for a comparison - we did have one go recently, but it had some real dings in it!
4. I hear only good things about the Catalinbread
5.
Yes - the bassist who toured with Paul Weller a few years back used one. They're very nice basses, but have never been as popular as the good old 4003/4001. Ironic really, as Ric always get criticised for not updating the 4003 model - in fact they have, but nobody buys them!
In defence of the non-buyers, Simon, they do look like sh*t.
6. The first Acid Bath album is very much death metal - the second, Paegan Terrorism Tactics (from memory) is very cool, and has a very different vibe. The guy from Spiritual Beggars also sings for The Mushroom River Band; if you like one, you'll like the other. Would be interested to know what gear - and particularly effects and EQ settings - people are using when playing this kind of music.
7. I'm seeing a parallel here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkOBAEa9wn8
8. Well, it's a year later... and I must have knocked my Ebay settings off, somehow, as I no longer seem to see any ads from that German sh*tebag.
9.
You lot are in a curmudgeonly mood. That's an incredible bit of guitar playing for anyone, let alone someone who's only 15. I wish I had those chops.
His talent threatens the status quo. He must be purged.
10. Is this the Classic Heritage Mock? It'll be decent. These are neckthrough; very solid basses, albeit with a little weight to them. They do neck-dive, word of warning. Neck should be something akin to a Precision, maybe a little deeper in profile. They're not bad basses, for the price; you can say the American vintage Mocks are the best of the breed - and they are, and I would snap someone's hand off for one - but you'd need substantially deeper pockets. Does that help? Summary: not bad; look classy; twin-P configs make some real noise
11.
That lady is quite attractive. Kid needs some congas.
Seconded. About the lady.
12.
Anyone mentioned Sleep yet?
No, but we probably should. Was avoiding the classics, as I hoped they'd be obvious to spot - but we could do a full run down? Let's see what else we have in the tank: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edssjyoZusc&feature=related Heavier, but... you knows it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikLDoO2Yv4A
13. I spied these on the Stonerobi blog, and they're totally new to me - but very cool! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svp2AqtCbxY
14. I can only assume that he did shop some stickers onto the bass, and Talkbass did for him in their usual fashion.
15. I think I've seen one of these before. I think they call it a bass guitar.
16. Trade him for his Killer bass, Ash - and then sell it to me!
17.
And one came up today for £250. Not a good time to do it, this being the beginning of a 5 week month, pay wise, but I couldn't not. It said that it's an NJ but I'm fairly sure it's an NT. We'll have to see, when it comes.
Was that the NT on Ebay? Not much distinction from the NJs, now, the NT just signifying the neck-through, surely?
18.
Yeah, you can't wipe yourself with an iPad.
It does raise havoc with the "slide to unlock" feature, I must admit.
19. If it had had 7 strings I would have had it.
20. It must be off-putting to younger players, perhaps; but what would be the shelf-life of a magazine focused upon the lower-end of the market? In this month's edition: the same Ibanez 001 we reviewed last month, but in another colour. The editor's pick? Is this bass good for metal? Finding your metal axe for less than £200. I think I prefer the balance - and it's tacit acceptance that the paying, bass-playing public, is made up in large measure of your 'grumpy old men' The major challenge to it's existence is the presence of sites like this, and other stores of information. We might claim we don't buy the mag as we're already well-informed... but we get that from somewhere
21.
Just discovered these guys too: Truly epic, gonna have to buy it. I spend too much time on http://stonerobixxx.blogspot.co.uk...
That blog is superb, have been following it for an age now - we've got very similar tastes
22. Is this on the way out now the Mastotron is in? If only it had 7 strings.
