So, how is the gift horse's mouth?
Hmmm... I think the patient will live; although they will be troubled by strong feelings of regret and jesus f***ing christ. In my professional veterinary opinion, of course. -
I almost signed up for this until I saw that you have to give permission to allow another company to bombard your email address with as much crap as they like as often as they like. Because I didn't like those terms I didn't sign up for it, dead easy.
I think that's in the terms and conditions of every e-mail service, ever. -
Sadly it is a sign of the times (recession but government would say otherwise). Money is too tight to mention...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrUB0g8Vjgg&ob=av2e Well, you get what you pay for; and this is free. Also, let's face it, we're not infallible - people do make mistakes. I was recently talking to a Basschat'er about picking his bass up, and we'd merrily gone through the hoops before we realised we were at other ends of the country, and I was proven wrong in assuming that bass came only in Black. Sigh. I apologised; we learnt; we moved on.

Sigh. We do this a lot. Thanks for the heads up, Warwick - I took a look at your page, and decided I would like to enter your competition. After all, I said to myself, it's no worse than the other users spamming their f***ing "Like" requests. I'm down to earth like that, you see. -
"The Hayman 40 40".....anybody got a spare 7 grand?!?!

This is where the "Make an Offer" facility comes in hand - you can offer him the opportunity to f*** himself. This is my favourite part of the add:
The deep, lush finish became checked (spider cracks) on the back of the body at a gig in 1985 when the case was opened too fast on an extremely cold night.
That's been my experience of deep, lush finishes alright. -
Musicman stingray and lakland both came to mind?
Do use both for my rock band - which is tad heavier than the influences you listed. It's all in the EQ, for me - and the forum members here have been great in helping me tweaking it.
-
Did a deal with Tom, swapping out my Lakland for his Stingray - superb comms throughout; absolutely no fuss; and stopped and had a natter over a cup of tea for an hour. A nicer Basschat'er you could not meet. I'd recommend him to you all

TRADED: Lakland Skyline 44-02 - 3 tone trans w. maple board and neck
Gust0o replied to Gust0o's topic in Basses For Sale
This is the one Lakland I loose sleep over !! The right colour and a maple neck. Sadly I don't have anything on your list to trade. I am subscribed tho' just in case a cash price comes up.
They're very, very nice basses - very refined, very light. This one, however, has just been traded - sorry to disappoint. Hope you get one in the end, as I think you'll really enjoy it -
Fair play, lah, if the sound is killing it for you, then let them know. Always good to feedback
You're an awful person. Why post this when I can't afford it
Seconded. You're a bad person, rumblebum Beautiful bass mate. One day, one day, I'd like one - but not today. Best of luck with the sale and have a bump
Both? Pretty sure that's the switch up there - trying to imagine how the hell I'd reach that mid-song.
Oh, the how is easy; the trick will come with how not to hit it mid-song

Funny things you've heard at a gig/soundcheck?
Gust0o replied to krispn's topic in General Discussion
I was running stage sound for Hawkwind once. The band roadies set everything up and then I rigged up all the interconnects to the desks. I walked over to check levels on the mics and when I got near to Dave Brock's one the tour manager yelled at me to keep away from it and ran across the stage at breakneck speed. It turned out that the only person who was allowed to even speak into Dave's mic was Dave himself because he was worried about germs. We then had to wait about 20 minutes for Dave to amble out of the dressing room where the band were partaking of 'refreshments'. He walked to the mic, flicked it with his finger, a thump came through the monitors & he ambled back again. . . I also once worked at an outdoor festival where Sade was headlining with Bad Manners on directly before them. Both bands were using the same core stage setup & vocal mics. Sade (or her crew) had apparently been a bit stroppy with Bad Manners during soundcheck. When they finished their set I saw Buster Bloodvessel take the lead vocal mic, stuff it down the back of his bands and give his bum a really good wipe with it. As he came off stage he said "that'll teach her to 'arsey' with me, now she'll know what it smells like:
Brilliant! -
Hit it with some very fine sand paper, that should sort you out.
Would wire wool work too, chief? I've never tried it with a waxed neck, mind.

Is that a selector switch, then? Or the guitar equivalent of a third nipple?
I feel very dowdy by comparison
We all do
I don't think I'm really ready to join a proper band yet. I've been having a look at various ads on joinmyband. I'm too old for most and too inexperienced for many. I don't think I'm ready to start my own band yet either.
You're never ready to join your first band - or so you think... Relax. Deep breaths. Take the plunge. It will probably surprise, as it must have done hundreds of members of this forum

Covers bands "openers" what do you start with?

Ouch Good luck, chief - it's a very distinctive bass, so I hope it surfaces.

I'll second the above. We ended up chopping and changing singers, and that necessitated some down time whilst we got the new guy up to speed - I thought, after that, I couldn't hear them again; all changed the second we got on stage with them
