Bought a 1995 Stingray off Pete. Good comms through, and two sugars in the tea - smooth transaction and would use deal with again

Just a note on the fatigue - this is a very common issue these days, since our modern lives have changed so much from those of our ancestors. Exercise will work; the right nutrition will work; some sun, even, will work - there are many ways to getting some energy back into yourself, without needing to do anything too drastic. It's just a case of finding a little time and space to have a look at the problem. But, following from some of the above, you can be amazed at what impact it can have on your efforts - it's like going from a standing start, and be it work or band, sometimes you can never seem to get up to speed. Have very much noticed this from personal experience - it's a tangent to the OP's original issue, which sounded more a case of opposed-objectives, but one worth bearing in mind. Glad it all got sorted.

Another huge fan of the Laklands. I have a Darryl Jones 4 Skyline, and love it

Led zeppelin and black sabbath just dont do anything for me !
Gust0o replied to gub's topic in General Discussion
I don't think you have to like them - it's just a shame that they're not doing anything for you, given their relative influence. But, then again, I can't stood Wooten, Miller, etc. Great technique and ability; not going on my stereo, sadly. It's all horses for courses, and neither outcome is wrong. -
Spent the morning tinkering with mine. All good so far... and some nice sun to do it all by, too!
Yh I realise that, but is there a recognised leader in "cheapness"! Sorry to keep pushing but buying new guitars is something I dont do very often. I know how and where to buy second hand. I have done some basic searches and found very little price differences which surprised me.
... you might also consider balancing "cheapness" with service, if shopping online. No point getting a deal if they ship with f***wit Palet Freight Ltd, of ******h-by-the-Sea, Timbuktu.

Is a bass more aesthetically pleasing than a guitar?
Gust0o replied to Marvin's topic in General Discussion
I votes yes... But there are exceptions when you consider Schecter, Gibson, and PRS!!
Get out. -
Is a bass more aesthetically pleasing than a guitar?

There are many aesthetically pleasing guitars; however I would prefer to play the bass. That said, given the choice, I'd prefer to play with The Saturdays, who are also more aesthetically pleasing than the bass. -

He does have the look of "Jesus, my strap just went" about him. With 4ks worth of expensive Timbuktu balsa-wood dropping away from him.

Metal bassists - What sort of tones are you using?
exactly. A lotta people ask me why I dont get a 5 string, then I tell them it's drop B (BF#BE) and they reply 'Oh'. it's not just having one phat string, they're ALL phat personally sound-wise I've kinda gone with the non-scientific 'plug in a Big Muff, that sounds fuzzed up and meaty' and left it at that. im long overdue for some sounds homework, but between what you get on stage/different cabs, i'm never really fully in control so as long as it's fairly reliable, I'm happy. We usually get complimented on sounding meaty/rumbling/fat, so thats cool I would also suffer from distortion getting covered by the two guitars as they're distorted too, but I'm pretty damn low n bassy, so there should be (even more) low end there. http://thorun.bandca...ck/god-particle my bass kicks this one off. Probably our best riff to highlight my dodgy timing, it's an odd bastard and im always glad when the band kicks in around me!!! to answer the OP, Distortion 3 sounds Awesome to me!!! \m/
Ah, Chesty - I like that, right up my street! £3? Bargain! -
Nothing says "****" like a Status Kingbass, eh? It's no good for metal.
Anything that would look out of place on stage. For example, it wouldn't look right to be playing soul with a BC Rich, or Metal with a Hofner.
Using a BC Rich for soul would totally suck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeYk6mFSwIk&feature=related

Might have missed this elsewhere in the thread, but could people not close to her name her favourite songs? This would help with the set list, and allow you to position the songs out to the audience - you can explain a little about why she liked each one, if people know. Might go a little more smoothly that way.
Wals - The Delorean of the bass world. Stylistically stuck in the 80s and were never actually cool. Geeks tried to make it cool and in turn created a new low on the geek scale, so lesser geeks finally had someone to bully.
Bam!

Finding *THE* bass - following from the 'end of GAS' topic...
Gust0o replied to Gust0o's topic in General Discussion
Strange, because I seem to be able to make all basses sound like me.
That's probably the subject of another worthwhile thread, for new players wondering how to go about setting their sound up. -
BC Rich-type stuff - what's the point?
Yeah, I hate BC Rich - it's all pointy, bollock-shaped tat...

Just a quick update. Turns out I'd never owned a Stingray before. Blummin' 'eck, they don't half make a racket. The one: found? -
You have to view it in the context of the Asian/Japanese tradition of stringed instruments.
I would, if only I were steeped more in that tradition. As a western consumer I think my original comment is fair reflection of the average consumer's reaction to it's chair leg nature and new kidney price tag.
