1. Now taking custom orders!
 2.
There's not a stringed instrument on the planet more aesthetically pleasing than this-
Jazzmaster bass, yeah!
 3.
It's all about the offset shape I think. My jazz bass is often in the living room and it looks great. I've got a jazzmaster also but its not on show in the living room as its got a nitro finish and I'm afraid if anyone even as much as looks at it, it'll get damaged! I can't stand seeing my acoustic 6 stringer in the living room but my double bass on the other hand makes the room look brilliant! Can't play the bugger very well though
How 'bout one of these!
 4.
Very nice pickup, and bass! I suspect it sounds fairly dark, how about some sound samples???
It sounds killer! lots of growl! Very similar to a Fender 50's p-bass but not far off the later split pickup. No sound samples yet. Cheers, Gaz
 5.
Nicely done!!! It dawned on me after I asked that there was no such thing so it must have been a custom job Does your mentor do any custom fabrication work? I've still never managed to find anyone to make me a chrome pickup ring, I've made a temp one from plastic and the chrome paint I bought just doesn't look like chrome...
Sorry bud I would like to help but there's just not enough time, it's very labor intensive so we're just concentrating on making guitars for now, not spare parts. If you have a look around for companys that are selling sheet metal they should be able to do some fabrication work for you. Cheers, Gaz
 6.
When I bought mine secondhand I wrote to Fender and they kindly sent me the manual! The two "normal" knobs are volume and tone. The three on the lower horn are on/off for the two pickups and series/parallel for them. The switch on the top horn is active/passive and the two rollers are bass and treble boost. Easy, eh? It's made in Japan, so the neck is smooth and fast. The edges are rolled and the action is very low, so it's very comfortable to play if Jazz necks are your thing. I gigged it last night for the first time and felt the sound was perhaps too warm (a bit less defined than I'd like). I swapped to my Corvette Standard for the second half. It's a passive one so I had to turn the volume on the amp up quite a bit, so obviously the Jag puts out quite a punch. I asked a semi-pro bassist I really respect what he thought and he told me he really liked the tone, so perhaps it was better out there than on stage. He also told me he likes it when he can hear the bass over the guitars, so it can't have been as muddy as I feared!
Yeah it's easy, just way more than I needed! A great lookin' and playing bass! Fender Japan stuff is excellent and all for a very fair price. Glad it worked out for you. All the best, gaz
 7.
That's lovely, colour, pickup, everything. Anymore details?
Thanks, There's more info and pics in the build diaries section of bass chat, or search forums for Jazzmaster bass.
 8.
There doesn't appear to be a thread for these, so I thought I'd start one. My recently-acquired Jaguar: And one of it with my Aerodyne (okay, so it's a Jazz...):
Hey Buddy, I bought one of those jap jag basses when they first came out, super cool looks and a great player but I didn't need active circuitry and all the switching options, I realised I wanted something more simple like a p-bass but with the aesthetics of a jazzmaster guitar. Anyway after many years dreaming about such a creation I persuaded a good friend to help me build this...
 9.
Cheers for the comments guys! Got it strung up now, practically finished - apart from the pickup ring which can be done anytime. You can't really tell she's a burn victim unless you look closely Either way I'm still going to do it, but it's nice to be able to play something that six months ago was just something I knocked up in Photoshop. Surprisingly it's nicely balanced with no neckdive or similar issues. Does need a set up, frets buzz above the 12th if the saddles go any lower, so might need a bit of adjustment with the truss rod. Other than that, no buzz or anything, quite impressed with the neck (Mighty Mite Jazz). Pickup is a custom Catswhisker coil tapped humbucker (alnico 5) wired to a switch for series HB and SC. It's got a nice character, deep and thick when rolled off but still with an element of clarity, and when open it's got plenty of top end without being too 'zingy'. Be interesting to hear how it changes as the strings settle in and dull down a bit. Also using a PIO tone cap I got from nick I think? Overall I'm really pleased with how everything turned out despite how long it took! Would just like to say thanks to all the folks on here who have offered help, advice and recommendations
Nice job dude!
 10.
That's gorgeous! Lovely colour, lovely design, just... lovely haha. I could do with that same bridge for my 'Telemaster' bass - as the bottom end of the body looks a little bit bare and I thought that might fill the gap a bit. Where can those be sourced?
Thanks for the kind comment. The bridge is an ace-tone original, based on the jazzmaster guitar but without trem, fabricated by my mentor Mr. Jon Rickards. Here's a pic before it was chromed.
 11.
I love that pickup - is it a wide coiled single just like a Jazzmaster but with 4 poles?
Here's a closer peek.
 12.
I love that pickup - is it a wide coiled single just like a Jazzmaster but with 4 poles?
Hello mate, yeah it's a custom made single coil jazzmaster style pickup. Alnico 3 poles wound around 8.5k made by my good friend Robbie at RIM basses. Rob has done a great job, it sounds killer!!!
 13.
Hello and welcome. Nice 'creation', and that wireless set in the background looks just dandy too.
Thanks buddy, I see you have a 70's tele bass, nice! O yes the wireless! More projects!
 14.
Loving the Seafoam with that white pickup and blocks. *Like*
Thanks buddy, Neck is also bound!
 15.
absolutely gorgeous! Can I ask where you got the neck from? I'd suggest posting this over at http://www.offsetguitars.com Muchos love for beauties like this!
By the way, neck is allparts, had it for a long time.
