  1. I don't understand the direction this thread has taken. The original poster is talking about how much he is enjoying learning scales, and everyone has jumped in suggesting he should do this, and that. I'm glad you are enjoying playing again, and hope you continue to be inspired!
  2. A lot of good advice so far. Other things I would try is listen to some of your favourite music. Also if you are being creative when noodling try recording your practice sessions then you can listen back to what you played and find the gems.
  3. Similar set up to my band. We do Muse - Starlight, Swedish House Mafia - Save the world tonight, Frankie goes to Hollywood- 2 tribes, Coldplay - adventure of a lifetime.
  4. Thanks for all your help guys! It's a great bass. To be honest I was hoping to get another one.
  5. Hi folks. About 10 years ago I bought a hand crafted bass off eBay, it was called a Schick zebra. It states that it was hand crafted in the Czech Republic. Recently I have been trying to find out more information about this bass and it's luthier, but I am coming up empty. Does anyone know anything about these basses? I will load some pics when I have figured out how to do it on basschat. Thanks
  6. I agree, Michael League is a truely talented guy! I hope that when people look at his body of work he gets the credit he deserves!
  7. I definitely noticed a huge difference when I changed to my MXR ISO brick. My signal chain of: Dunlop mini volume pedal, boss OC2, boss PS5, dark glass duality, iron ether frantabit, soundblox envelope filter, tc electronic sky surfer reverb, tc electronic nova repeater, Aguilar tone hammer, and ditto. Given the fact that the tone hammer needs 18V, and all the other pedals take different current draws, the mxr not only eliminated some ground hum I was getting, I also got better results from each of my pedals because they were actually getting exactly the current they needed. I can't recommend a good psu highly enough
  8. I notice when you answered the question about how much you play, you said you don't play every day. I would recommend playing for even 15 mins everyday and you would be surprised how quickly the callouses will come on.
  9. This happened to me with a cheap power supply. I would definitely recommend getting an isolated power supply. The noise will most likely be coming from an underpowered pedal, or a digital pedal in the chain. I can highly recommend the MXR ISO Brick, you will also be surprised how much pedal your pedals sound when they are properly powered
  10. I got the MXR ISO brick, and I have to say it's pretty impressive. I like that there is a really good mix of outputs, even 2 adjustable ones, it looks great and the build quality appears excellent so far!
  11. +1 for Fugazi, album I would start with is The Argument. Not quite pop punk but for heavy bass in a similar genre Rage Against the Machine have great bass lines. And further afield you have Primus which are a band I think you will dig if your starting point is RHCP etc, I think the easiest album to get into is probably Antipop. Then you can dig deeper...
  12. The gator pro go gig bag is pretty awesome. I have the 2 bass version, great padding great straps, has a rain cover, and plenty of space for a TH350. Also has a padded section specially for an iPad which I find handy.
  13. It will be tricky to get the articulate sound you are talking about with a p bass. I would go the opposite direction and put some flatwounds on it and roll the tone all the way off. That's where is magic is on a p bass in my opinion. As suggestion chromes are good, I also really like la bella's
  14. The problem with the staccato is that the flat setting on each eq control isn't actually the eq set flat (this is the difference between the staccato and the RH450, it's set to Rocco prestia's preference) I'm sure that there is a way to change the response of each EQ so that you can set it flat like you could with an RH450. It's probably within the shift functions. If you can get it to set flat, you could then dial in the scoop that you like.
  15. I am also looking to get a synth mainly for bass. I really like the idea of a moog, however the keys player in my band is recommending the notation ultranova. Has anyone got experience with this, say over the Bass station 2?
  16. Bought a hipshot xtender from Mark. Great guy, buy with confidence! Great communication, super quick delivery and also just an all round nice guy! Thanks Mark!
  17. I had seen the switchblade. It got put off when the writing on the pedal makes it look like 1 input and 2 outputs, when what I am looking for is 2 inputs and 1 output.
  18. Hi folks, Does anyone know of a pedal that would allow me to run 2 inputs into my pedal board, that would also mute the input that wasn't being used? Thanks
  19. I have serious GAS for a moog right now, either a sub fatty or a sub 37. I'm wondering if any fellow basschatters have bought a moog then regretted it / not used it as much as they thought they would?
  20. Nice, I had stopped using my tone hammer but after reading this I will have to do some more experimenting!
  21. I guess it's possible that the break angle after the nut could have been affected if the tuning pegs were a slightly different height. Next time you change strings try to use more or fewer wraps around the post to create the same sort of angle you had with the original tuners.
  22. The sounds are really good. I bought it when it was first released. If you like to tinker it's fun, but it's a lot more involved that garage band. I haven't tried recording an external source with it, so I couldn't comment on that. But it is a fun app.
  23. I would give the RH450 or RH750 a play if you can. I run a RH450 with a RS212 and an RS210, and it is clear that the products have been designed to work well together. Yeah the RH heads can give you option paralysis but I find that running flat both my p bass and my active basses sound really good. It's also handy have awesome compression and a world class tuner on board.
