  1. Hi folks, This is an incredible bass, but it's time for a change. Sale price: £1800 I am interested in trades, what do you have? Specs: 1 piece Walnut body Book matched Elm burl top 1 piece roasted Birdseye maple neck Macassar ebony fingerboard Lumilay side dots 34" scale Nordstrand Blades PJ pick ups VBT controls. All hipshot hardware with d tuner. I'm based in Glasgow, I will personally deliver to mainland UK so please don't be concerned about postage. Any questions, get in touch.
  2. Yup, the Glasgow store is also great. A few years ago I was in the market for a new cabinet and a fuzz pedal. I hadn't brought my own bass with me. When they asked what I played and it happened to be a p bass with flats, the salesman let me use his own personal early 70's P bass which he had in the back. Needless to say I spent over a grand that day. If they have what I need in stock I will buy from them.
  3. I totally agree. I need a new compressor and this one looks like a contender.
  4. Hi folks, I have for sale here a fantastic condition Alpher Mako Fretless. It sounds great, I'm just not a great Fretless player, and really can't justify having this beautiful instrument. I am motivated to sell, so I can do you a deal on this for £1250! 1 piece Sapelle body - sunburst callida (burnt) finish 1 piece Ash neck Macassar Ebony fingerboard Nordstrand Dual Coil pick up (with hidden 3 way switch) All Hipshot hardware Lumilay side dot markers Alpher branded hiscox case, or Mono bass sleeve. (Your choice) Postage available, or happy to hand deliver to a lot of the UK.
  5. I always loved Janek Gwizdala's first Fodera. When he was selling it I was tempted to sell my car to buy it 🤣
  6. There are so many that I love, but I think Venice Queen is my favourite. Not completely sure why, but it just builds so well.
  7. Putting up another picture to show that the pedal is in great condition, it is only dust that can be seen in the other pictures.
  8. Yes that's then. If you are on Instagram they are worth a follow. They do incredible work.
  9. This is an Alpher Mako, with a 1 piece sapele body, ask neck & Macassar ebony fingerboard. They have burned the body to give it the sunburst effect. All hardware is hipshot & it has a Nordstrand dual soap bar pick up, with a hidden 3 way selector switch for single coil or both coils. Chris & Al make some of the best instrument in the world in my opinion. I also have another fretted 4 string & a guitar. They are also both awesome guys.
  10. I have a love hate relationship with fretless. Right now I'm in a love phase. Mostly thanks to this beauty from Alpher
  11. Origin Effects Bass Rig '64 Black Panel. Great pedal, great condition. Comes with box. Price includes shipping. Only selling as my there is almost no chance of gigs in my near future. Any questions, get in touch.
  12. Wow, what an instrument for that price. Dangerous...
  13. From a bassrig 64 from Tom. Fantastic communication, and super fast delivery, he sent it out the same day! Highly recommend. Thank you Tom.

  15. Really great questions here! Alternating fingers - My advice would be yes try to always alternative your fingers while learning this will make playing fast lines easier in the future. There are some exceptions, and in the end it doesn't actually matter. Right hand position - Where you position you right hand will massively effect the tone produced. As a general rule of thumb, the closer to the neck you pluck the string the warmer and rounder the tone, the closer to the bridge the sharper and tighter tone. Genre of music - Play whatever you want to play. Whatever music you are drawn to will make you enjoy playing more. I would suggest learning some basic theory too, scales & arpeggios as a start.
  16. Wow some one is going to get this bargain of the century with this! Sorry that the sale is forced by circumstances.
  17. Is Janek in Bob's band for this tour? Thats great news, I didn't know that. Thanks
  18. Yup no real bass on the recording at all. Still a super cool bass line. If anyone manages to put together a pedal signal chain sounding like that synth bass sound it goes to later in the song it would be awesome if they shared it.
  19. Allright, but that was 1rst rehearsal where nobody exactly kney what everybody can, so i think it's not bad to show your skills at first time, then you can talk it over and change the maintance We are quite far into this thread. When I first read it, I had the impression that it was a pre audition question. Now I get the idea you have been told you weren't hired because you played fretless and you are trying to figure out if that was the real reason?
  20. I don't think this is always a sad thing. The bass holds so much power, we can change the chord, and we can change the whole feel of the groove. To use a cheesy quote, "with great power comes great responsibility". This is very true of the bass guitars role in a band. When auditioning for a band it's important to know what they are looking for from a bassist. If they want some one to play the fundamentals and keep the band together, excellent there are plenty of bass players (including myself) who are more than happy to do that. If you want to play a different role in the band, adding more to the melody for example, it's important that the band know that, otherwise there's going to be a lot of frustration for all involved.

  22. I looking to buy my first synth. I am stuck between a Moog, or possibly buying into NI Komplete & getting a separate minotaur. Is there anywhere similar to Basschat when instruments switch hands between good people? I'm going to put a wanted ad up on Basschat, but wondered if I can reach a wider audience somewhere.
