No you are right, it is a crazy request. I would expect to have to change the strings on a 2nd hand instrument. Most people would want to put on strings of their own preference.

I made the switch and it does take some time to get used to. I do miss the B for playing Motown or anything in Eb, but I think for soloing and chordal playing the C is just much more useful.

I genuinely didn't realise I was opening up such a big can of worms by posting this thread. I just wanted to bring one of my favourite musicians and a dude that I thought a lot of this community would like over to the UK for a solo gig!

I agree really nice genuine guy who shares his passion. One of the finest musicians out there at the minute. If people are judging him based on stopping using an Internet forum, I don't think the problem is with him.

The mapping tonal harmony app for iPad is a pretty good tool, I think it cost about £8 or so. Scott's Bass Lessons, and videobasslessons.tv are really good learning communities but do cost quite a lot at about 40 dollars a month each. If you are willing to shell out that amount of cash I would recommend getting some proper face to face tuition, and read as much as you can. You will be surprised how quickly you will pick it up once you start reading every day with your bass on your lap. The mistake I made when doing what you are trying to do was I tried learning theory and reading as a separate thing to my playing. Have your bass in front of you as much as you can so that you relate everything to the bass.

To be fair if you watch his VLOG you would see a guy who has gone through tremendous personal growth. I think it would be a shame to miss out on the opportunity to bring one of the worlds best players over to the UK.

So today 09/01/17 Janek said on his VLOG that he is wanting to do Solo bass gigs anywhere in the world he just wants people to bring him tangible suggestions and help setting up a venue. I would love to bring him to the UK ideally Scotland or North England. Is there any one else out there that wants to help make this happen? Get in contact and we can make this happen!
