1. Have you changed the power supply? If the pedal wasn't getting enough power (ma) it might cause it to have that type of problem
2.
Get a bitcrusher. I really like the iron ether frantabit. The mooer lo-fi machine is also good, and I also have my eye on the meris ottobit jr.
I just got a frantabit and it's incredible! But I wouldn't have it as my only pedal, I feel it gives a little extra to so many effects, plus it's crazy fun to mess with. To answer the OP question I would say an octave pedal OC2 ideally
3. I have loads loads of folks have compression as the first pedal in the signal path. I presume it's to balance out the signal before it hits any modulation, but I agree with the other comment here, try it both ways
4.
I have the dots for Mayer's Who Did You Think I Was and Pino makes it all look far too easy 😀
Pino make everything look easy! Where did you find the dots I would love to get my hands on them.
5. I think YouTube videos definitely aren't the media that will show the difference. I think a lot of the difference will be lost in the compression, then also with videos mainly being mixed to be listened to on phones and tablets.
6. I second that. Flats sound awesome with overdrive and fuzz. I have chromes on my p bass, I use the Aguilar tone hammer for overdrive and the dark glass duality for fuzz. Both sound incredible
7. After all the great advice, I have decided to get a full set up and then I will run it through an EQ. Thanks again folks
8. I would start using https://www.resolver.co.uk and use this for all your communication with the company. It gives you good templates to use and companies tend to take complaints through this website a little more seriously.
9. Thanks for all the advice guys, I appreciate it!
10. Hey folks hoping for a bit of advice. I have a 1979 Fender P Bass with a maple finger board. It's got d'addario chromes on it. The problem I am having is the E string always seems a lot louder, and it make the bass sound very boomy. I usually play the the tone rolled all the way off, I like the dead sound but the E string just doesn't sound right to me. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
11. I can't get my head around of these different genres. I love The Mars Volta but had no idea they were math rock?
12. I was the same with fret less I couldn't get used to flatwounds (even though I love them on my P Bass), I put a set of half rounds on it and started to really enjoy it!
13. Pbass with D'Addario Chromes is main bass, but thinking of trying la Bella, or TI's.
14. Acoustica Mixcraft is also a good shout for an easy to use DAW for a PC.
15. Both geniuses! I love these guys. Mike League is out of the world.
16. For my 2 cents worth, you tried the MIM and really liked it. If you have made a connection with that particular bass buy it and love it. I have found that some MIM fender stuff is nicer to play than some of the USA gear. You will have saved a ton of money and if the sound isn't cutting it you can always replace the pick ups. The other thing is I think the Deluxe range has an active circuit so if you want more tone shaping options it's maybe worth it for you.
17. I think with Janek's VLOG we need to remember he very clearly calls it a VLOG and not bass lessons. So we should expect to see an insight into his life and not just him talking about how to be a better musician. I think his content has been outstanding. He gives us loads of excellent free advice, and I like getting a glimpse of what life is like for the working musician.
18. +1 for the cello suites. Great listening, and can be transcribed fairly easily on to bass.
19. Bought an envelope filter from Robert. Great communication, great packaging and fast delivery. Highly recommended! Thanks again!
20. Can't recommend them highly enough. Paul was awesome when I was in. They have the most high end bass gear I have seen in one place in Scotland, excellent sevice, and it feels a mile away from your typical music store! Hope they get the success they deserve!
21. Just bought a TC Electronic RH450 amp from Rich. Great communication, quick delivery and packaged really really well! Thank you Rich it's been a pleasure dealing with you. I can't recommend Rich enough!
22. If you are getting into pedals it's worth following the pedals and effects you tube page. Juan Alderete pretty much rules the bass pedal world. Also worth following the Janek Gwizdala you tube page. Janek does a daily VLOG and he talks about pedals a lot and plays with pedals a lot.
23. Went into guitar guitar in Glasgow to see the new bass department. It's brilliant! Came out with a TC electronic RS212 Cab, Dark Glass Duality Fuzz pedal, and a couple of other bits and bobs. Paul was incredible even got his own vintage p bass out for me to use as none of the basses in store came with flats. This was top class customer service, great gear, great chat, and great guys! I can't recommend this place enough! If you are around the Glasgow area and need bass gear this is the place to go!
24.
I`ve had both the 350 and the 500, and unless you need very clean at high volume, combined with a very hard hitting drummer, the 350 should be fine, especially if hooked up to an efficient cab. If given the choice between the 500 and a single speaker cab, or the 350 and a multiple speaker cab, assuming the budget is the same the latter would be my choice.
Thanks for you input Lozz. I'm loving the tone hammer pedal I got from you. Do you still use a tone hammer head? If not what made you move on? Thanks
