  1. I 2nd Dunlop Stainless Steel Superbrights. Brilliant strings!
  2. Hi folks. Hoping to get some advice. I have started to get some hum from my Tone Hammer DI. I use a MXR iso brick power supply using an 18v supply. I only seem to get a hum since I have added my Cali76 CB compressor (also 18v) to my signal chain. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks
  3. That is a stunning bass! Congrats!
  4. Clever, I like it. I might have to make one of these for my own rig!
  5. I would agree that it would be worth trying the RS210 & RS212. The RS cabs are designed to sound best with the RH heads. I have one of each and the sound is amazing!
  6. I use a RH450 and I also love it. Great to have different settings for different basses, also it’s incredibly versatile with the tube tone! I think I would miss the presets which I find incredibly handy when playing gigs with other bands and I end up supplying the bass amp. Doesn’t matter what the other bass players do, I am back at my settings with 1 touch of a button.
  7. Those are the pickups I have with 4 way switching for each pickup! Good choice! It’s incredibly versatile. It will be worth the wait
  8. Yeah the burnt ash is a beauty! I saw the body in the flesh when I was down a few months ago! I was very tempted to go the same route for my next bass. But I wanted a light coloured bass. I’m going with a walnut body, Italian sycamore top wood, sycamore neck and fingerboard, with a walnut scratch plate. Chris and Al are great guys, who are masters of their craft! I don’t think I will ever buy an instrument from another company.
  9. There is a lot to help now, but to be honest it has a lot of downfalls to! We can all learn from looking to the past, my ears have gotten so much better since I made the conscious decision not to look for scores / tab for songs I want to learn, and just transcribe by ear. That being said learning theory helps as it narrows down possible note Choices and make the process much quicker.
  10. You Tube is your friend here. There are lots of online bass schools that use you tube to advertise the types of lessons they give. I would recommend checking out the following people: Janek Gwizdala Scotts Bass Lessons Jayme Lewis Adam Neely Once you get an idea of who would give you the most inspiration, you could either sign up to their school, or just take advantage of all you Tube has to offer.
  11. Bought a Radial JDI from Michael. Very fast postage and great packaging. Thanks again Michael!
  12. I reported this instrument too. It winds me up that people list this stuff like this. I don’t believe for a second that the seller believed the bass to be genuine, because if they did the asking price would have been closer to £1000. Some one trying to pull a fast one on some uninformed parents before xmas!
  13. Play everything and anything you can get your hands on. My experience with P basses is that I have played custom shop and vintage instruments that if I was blind folded I would have guessed they were squires, and vice versa. You might find your perfect instrument is a lot more affordable than you first thought!
  14. I acquired my Alpher 2nd hand but it’s a masterpiece! So much so that I have my own spec of Alpher in order. My current Alpher is a Claro Walnut body, Buckeye Top, Rosewood Neck, Ziricote fingerboard. Nordstrand big man pickups. It’s a beast!
  15. I love the cure, but I think they are a shining example on the fact that the masses listen with their eyes and not their ears. It always confused me that they were labelled a goth band when so much of their output is very joyful! People looked at their image more than they listened to their music.
  16. Thanks Dannybouy. I know the reddi will only affect the FOH tone. I do like the Tone Hammer and it is really flexible, I’m just sick of arguing with sound guys that don’t want to take a post eq Di from my pedal board, and I end up going through whatever cheap DI they have lying around. I not bashing the Aguilar at all it is still on my board, and I will use the AGS for some grit when needed.
  17. Thanks for the input Roman_sub, did you ever use it with an active bass?
  18. I think the gig bag you use inside the SKB would also be a contributing factor. Following Janeks VLOG showed that Fodera being checked in numerous time and no major damage, so perhaps a good gig bad and an SKB could do the trick for one bass, then hand luggage the 2nd bass.
  19. For the routing you could use Jimmy Egypt in the west end of Glasgow. He is a really good luthier/ tech. I have heard great things about ki0gon’s wiring kits, I’m going to get one myself.
  20. Bit late to the party here, but as a first DAW it’s worth looking at Mixcraft if your running Windows. It’s got a very easy learning curve and is fully featured. Plus it doesn’t cost a lot.
  21. Thanks for the picture! I knew it was pretty big but great to see it to scale. I think it will fit on my cab...
  22. The Tone Hammer is good, but it’s a pre amp, I would rather just have the DI box as most sound engineers want the signal pre eq, so for gigs it never gets used.
  23. Michele Camilo Big Band - Caribe Absolute masterclass by Anthony Jackson, and the bass is really high in the mix.
  24. Any price listed is an “Invitation to barter” shops don’t have to honour an incorrect price, but you will find a lot of the time they will honour it in the name of customer service.
