  1. The audient ID4 is great and can be used with an iPad if you have the camera adapter and a powered USB hub. Another more expensive option but could kill many birds with one stone would be the Line 6 HX Stomp.
  2. Warwick Reds again for me. Under £10 on Amazon. I am a total convert to them, I used to spend £30 a pop on dunlops but I am more than happy with the Warwicks.
  3. I haven’t heard that song before... Going to have to transcribe that now. I properly love a bit of Bruno Mars
  4. My 2 cents would be if you don’t want to play the music and don’t need the money, don’t go to the audition and tell them as soon as possible that you are not going to go, no use in going into an audition half hearted. Thst being said it’s always easier to find a new band when you are in a band. But if you go down this route learn the material and give it your all...
  5. Great bassline. Loved playing that one in my last covers band.
  6. Progress on my new build! Can’t wait to get my hands on this beast!
  7. If you do decide to go down the route of getting a different amp, i think it would be a decent shout to try a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 or above. Tube pre amp and solid state power amp. Sounds fantastic and is very light. You can pick them up used pretty cheap.
  8. I totally agree! Just unfortunately most of the time when you see the pharse “best value” what people actually mean is cheapest that will actually do the job...
  9. This is a great plan mate! Excellent structure and you have given yourself clear goals that you can measure! I need to do the same thing for myself! The other suggestion I would have for you is stick the radio on, or a Spotify playlist of the genre of music you like and just try to play along. Listen for a few bars then just try to play. It’s really hard at first but stick with it and you will be surprised with how quickly your ear improves.
  10. I agree Ableton is awesome, and can do things that most DAW’s can only dream of, but for the full fat version it’s expensive, but I guess that opens up the value vs cost can of worms...
  11. Peavey Cirrus has a 35” scale and they are brilliant basses. Even the BXP’s which were made in Indonesia would be a good shout. Would get a BXP for about £200, he would probably be able to find an America full fat Cirrus for his £800.
  12. My main bass is a 5 string tuned E-C, with a drop D tuner. It’s really good for chordal playing and soloing. The other big benefit for me of this instead of a 6 string is that muting is not as much of a challenge. From reading the thread it sounds like a good octave pedal might be your best friend for this gig.
  13. Location: Fury Murray’s - Glasgow 2006 - Age 21 Bass - Schick Zebra
  14. When I had this amp I paired it with an RS210 & an RS212, it sounded great, and the cabs happily stack vertically. I would recommend the RS212 especially when you can get a brand new one for £299 from Andertons just now!
  15. However buys this bass is gonna super happy with it! Great basses! GLWTS
  16. Were there other bass players using the amp the same night? If so did they have the same problem? I agree that on the face of it it sounds like a faulty connection some where in the amp being shaken loose by the drums.
  17. I think this is probably how they get around it.
  18. Not illegal at all. Even if the wrong price is displayed the retailer has no legal responsibility to honour the price, as all displayed prices are an invitation to barter. Trading Standards can make recommendations to retailers regarding trading practices, but I believe they have little power to enforce anything, the retailer may need to show due diligence, however there are many loopholes. All that being said in the age of social media, the customer has truly become king, and most large businesses will honour wrong prices etc as an act of goodwill in order to give “good service”.
  19. When you say you might get some monitors I would say I have some G3 KRK Rokit 5’s and I don’t recommend them at all, I find it much easier to hear with decent headphones. The other advice I would give is stick the track into the DAW of your choice and EQ it to bring out the frequencies of the part you are trying to learn.
  20. Thanks for these! I love the fact there’s no tab, it will really help my reading skills.
  21. For some instrumental modern progressive rock Polyphia & Chon really caught my ear. For funk KC Roberts & The Live Revolution.
  22. A new addition to my favourite music, just happens to have awesome bass on it: KC Roberts & The Live Revolution - From the North Part 1 Great modern funk band!
  23. This is probably quite a common story. Some one buys a high end bass thinking it will make them sound like the pro’s that play them. They don’t sound like the pro, so the bass must go...
  24. I was asking about active cabs. I have no problem with people using my amp, it would just be one less thing to carry for some gigs if I knew I wouldn’t be amp sharing. Sorry for all the confusion.
