Yeah it’s definitely not live there. Yeah most new music would definitely be a struggle to pull off without a keys player, as most commercial pop from the last few years has been either minimalist or overly produced, neither of which makes for easy covers in a guitar based covers band. It does however leave a lot of room for creative covers.

I would try this version of Bad Guy.

I’m only in an originals band just now. But if I was still in my covers band I would be advocating for both of those track in the set.

Sorry to hear that dude, And I totally know how you feel. When my mum passed away last year, I had the same feeling and wanted to get rid of a bunch of expensive equipment I had lying around not being used. I did get rid of some of it mainly guitars. To be honest I haven’t regretted it. But I wouldn’t get rid of my dream bass. Hopefully you will find the joy in it very soon!

But in a more serious note Bad Guy - Billie Eilish, and Don’t start now - Dua Lipa, could be pretty decent covers.

Warwick used to do a set that I bought on amazon for like £15, they always came from Germany, but I’ve not seen them for a while. Failing that by the 6 string set, or on strings direct you can buy single C strings, my preference was always 0.32

I am open, my aim is to broaden my horizons and listen to music I wouldn’t find on my own.

I have decided to set myself a New Years challenge of listening to 1 new album per day (New to me anyway) . I realised how much of my time I have spent watching TV, which always makes me feel crap, where as when I listen to music I feel great. Suggestions of must listen to albums are welcome! 🙏

I’m falling into the grey area...Just arranged a trade that won’t happen until the 2nd of January, so either I am covered in 2019 as it was arranged today, or I am an extremely early casualty...Either way I’m ok with it as I will be getting the P bass of my dreams.

I got this, it should keep me practicing for at least the next year...

Where do you live? I’m sure there is probably a local basschatter with a 6 string that you could try?

My 2 cents would be: If you are tuning BEADG and it’s a bass for grooving go for 18/19mm, if you want to tune EADGC and want it for chordal playing / soloing 16.5mm is the way to go.

The maroon 5 track wouldn’t have been out of place in the 1600’s...

I think it mainly gets a bad rap due to how the band feel about it, and that they basically haven’t played any of it live since Dave left the band. I think it is a good album, just a different feel.

I think Andy got the list just about right. The only song I think is missing and should be on the album is Hard to Concentrate.
