1. I fancy a Warwick, then again I would come into the metalhead/rock category. An Infinity SN5 in Zebrano would be lovely...
2. Good review ! I have an EB180-12 running into a MAG210 cab which isn't far off the MAG combo really - the head is identical bar it's output rating and colour. The cab is indeed front heavy and is a major pain up and down my narrow stairs - but it's not really any heavier than other amps in the same range. I use the VU meter more for getting the right signal into the DI (since the XLR socket is post EQ). Having it clip at no more than 0dB helps the soundman a fair bit. I generally have the EQ flat, maybe a slight 220Hz boost depending on the room.
3. Yeah they are awesome - however he does look in a bit of a strange posture.. hmmm..
4. Worry not I have issues too (i'm 24). I find I learn songs ok - but forget them easily within a few weeks if I don't play them. At a recent gig I murdered Pantera - Cemetary Gates with some awful bits i'd forgotten.
5. Posting this for Bernmeister - please do not PM me regarding this . For sale my trusty well looked after Swr 2x10 cab. Only for sale as I now use their 8ohm versions. In very good condition for its age, it has the soft cloth front grille, with wooden struts down the front to protect the centre of the drivers. The grille frame can be removed, to show the drivers uncovered or so that the grille cover can be replaced. The cab is approx 45-50lbs in weight & has only banana plug connection on the rear, but I have an obbm made 1m length banana – speakon cable available if required for a small additional cost . Oh must mention that the circle shown on the picture of the rear of the cab is mark made by my camera & is definitely “not” on the cab. Would prefer to meet on most of the service stations nearest the Birmingham area or I can send as I have an Swr 2x10 box I can send it in for around £20 p&p. Thanks for looking. Bernie.
6. Check out this guy using a Vampyre.. http://www.myspace.com/sethhoran
7.
I love the BADASS on my jazz, you should definatly get one if your thinking of changing the bridge. But personally I think it would look stupid to have a modern look like the BADASS with a retro look of the chrome covers. Just my opinion.
Tell that to Marcus Miller . By the way I don't think the ashtray fits over a BADASS 2.
8. Some pics would help sell this - great basses.
9. Nice Corvette - only tried the 4 $$ but it was a meaty beast.
10. I nearly spat out my drink when I saw them lined up against the fence . That's an amazing collection - some fine specimens in there.
11. More like are there ANY Bongo copies ?
12. Took it's time didn't it Kev ? I almost felt like I was waiting for it myself ! I had my doubts when you first said you wanted a Vampyre, thought it was a bit stereo-typed to the metal genre but it's much more versatile after hearing Seth's work. There was the Sandbergs, then Yamaha TRB JP, then Vampyre then Katana and then back to the Vampyre ! I hope it was worth the wait and does you justice .
13. Yeah Ibanez always seem quite close to me.. great for finger style.
14. Nearest I could find.. http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/shop/products.php...mp;product=2447
15. Just the 3 for me as per sig - i've owned 10 in the last 4 years. Of course i'd like to still have them all plus more..
16. I gig my EB180-12 quite regularly. Admittedly I do have a MAG210 hooked up to it, but haven't had to crank it past 4 on the volume so far. It's nice and punchy and I think it sounds great, I generally have the EQ totally flat with the Jazz or with a slight 220Hz + 1.6Khz boost with my Stingray. I have a little experience with Laney amps (used them at practise and as a borrowed rig). I find them to be a bit muddy sounding, but that could have been just lack of familiarity with the EQ settings. By the way you can get the EB180-12 cheaper here: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~A...Amp~ID~3075.asp (ignore the old pic it will be the new model). Here it is in action last week:
17. That's pretty much the Ashdown rig i'd like to own but the normal head instead of rackmount. That Stingray 4 has me drooling too.. very nice.
18. They're quite good, I defretted mine a few months ago. It has a very bright tone all the time.. it's not easy to get thump out of it, but it is a modern bass and not meant for old school tone. Perfect for rock/metal.
19.
And I dont have time to keep answering questions that get asked over and over again.
But you do have time to whinge bout it .
20. D'Addario Chromes are wonderfully thumpy...
21. Dawsons usually have a couple of them - call them up to make sure.
