1. Active - have never got the sound I like for my band from a passive bass yet.
2. I'd like to take one of those, stick a black pickguard and pickup cover on it... mmmm. That's got me GASing now.
3. I played one of these in Johnny Roadhouse in Manc - was quite impressed. How do you get on with just one pickup Luke ? Was the only thing that put me off.
4. I find i'm making a few less than I used to - more to do with familiarity with the songs than anything else. When we get some new ones I expect i'll make a few fluff ups again. No-one's perfect..
5. http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/shop/products.php...mp;product=1478 http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/shop/products.php...mp;product=1479 I know you said it's a S1 - but i'm sure the US Standard would be same pickguard.
6. http://www.wdmusic.co.uk - they are pricey on torts though.
7. Looks about right price for a Tribute.
8. These are great strings - would cost you at least £26 online so this is a great price. EDIT: I've got these on my Jazz and they are thumptastic.
9. There aren't many luthiers that also make amps so it's quite limiting.. suppose i'd have to go Musicman (they used to make amps, right ?).
10. It was my intention to as soon as I got a standard pickguard. Much better where it should be...
11. Might as well join in .
12. http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user?region=gb_...mp;event=228560
13. Well I don't have any problems with mine - my amp has EQ control if I really need the mids.
14.
Mine's a 2 EQ version of the one above. I use that and a jazz live, and at Saturdays gig, the ray sounded so awesome, the jazz didn't get a look in all night. Power, punch and clarity all rolled in to one sexy body................ and the bass is nice too. I'd always wanted one, now I've got one, and it's my number one, I love it.
Same here - my Jazz is purely a backup bass, will never take the number one spot.
15. I don't bother with Birmingham SC anymore - not an inspiring bass stock in the slightest. Also the dark cellar so you can't inspect an instrument properly, and terrible acoustics just make me not waste my time. The Salford SC was great for instruments (Warwick, Spector), but you had more chance of knitting fog than finding someone to help you. I did however buy my Spector Q6 Pro for £330 from there, sold it for £300 a year later so I got a good deal. I only really go to PMT - super range of gear and genuinely friendly staff. Plus loads of Sandbergs to GAS over..
16. Yeah - the JJ's are very nice but i'd opt for the JM instead - unless of course you want it to be more Fender like.
17. I'm yet to try one - but I've not heard anyone give anything but a glowing review for these.
18. Ooh nice, always fancied one of these - bit can't help but wonder if i'd learnt to love it.
19. What an ugly POS, can't seen how it's even called a bass.
20. I'd probably keep the flats on it for that Beatles vibe.. oddly enough as I clicked on this thread I was listening to Here Comes the Sun.
21. Tough call. Personally i'd say it down to each buyer to review the instrument for faults as best they can before buying.. although not always possible on things like this. If I were the 2nd owner i'd wouldn't be expecting anything from you.
