    Definitely worth the money, it'll easily outclass the Squier/Westfield and is definitely good enough to play for years. The only possible con I can think of is it's resale value - Yamahas really don't hold their value very well, then again they are cheap to begin with ! I had a BB614 and only sold it to fund the acquisition of my Stingray.

    Offering to post will definitely help you here... people might not be willing to travel far for a (relatively) cheap instrument. Postage should be about £20 putting your price to £170, still a good saving on a new one.

    I posted £10 to Mart for a Stingray pickguard, this was during the post strikes and it never arrived. I said to put it back up for sale as I didn't fancy paying £20 in total for it - he sent it to me anyway ! What a super chap !

    I started on guitar when I was 18, got a bass about 4 months later.

    I have 2Gb of RAM in my home PC, never use more than 50% of it, work PC has 1Gb and same applies.. I can't see you having any need for 4Gb, let alone more than that.

    They list at about £600-£650 online, so £400-£450 sounds very reasonable to me.

Personally single cuts don't feel comfortable to me. I have played 2 Shukers (the doodle included), and though very nice, aren't for me.

    Yeah my '96 is a bit grubby - looks even worse when you take the strings off. The dirt does seem engrained into the wood, thus I feel the very light steel wool might be the only option.

    The Stingray 2EQ I find well suited - it doesn't distort the natural sound of the bass only accentuate it. I've played a few Ibanez and been impressed, especially the SR505. The EQ on that was terribly powerful..
