1.
Mine's a 2 EQ version of the one above. I use that and a jazz live, and at Saturdays gig, the ray sounded so awesome, the jazz didn't get a look in all night. Power, punch and clarity all rolled in to one sexy body................ and the bass is nice too. I'd always wanted one, now I've got one, and it's my number one, I love it.
Same here - my Jazz is purely a backup bass, will never take the number one spot.
2. I don't bother with Birmingham SC anymore - not an inspiring bass stock in the slightest. Also the dark cellar so you can't inspect an instrument properly, and terrible acoustics just make me not waste my time. The Salford SC was great for instruments (Warwick, Spector), but you had more chance of knitting fog than finding someone to help you. I did however buy my Spector Q6 Pro for £330 from there, sold it for £300 a year later so I got a good deal. I only really go to PMT - super range of gear and genuinely friendly staff. Plus loads of Sandbergs to GAS over..
3. Yeah - the JJ's are very nice but i'd opt for the JM instead - unless of course you want it to be more Fender like.
4. I'm yet to try one - but I've not heard anyone give anything but a glowing review for these.
5. Ooh nice, always fancied one of these - bit can't help but wonder if i'd learnt to love it.
6. What an ugly POS, can't seen how it's even called a bass.
7. I'd probably keep the flats on it for that Beatles vibe.. oddly enough as I clicked on this thread I was listening to Here Comes the Sun.
8. Tough call. Personally i'd say it down to each buyer to review the instrument for faults as best they can before buying.. although not always possible on things like this. If I were the 2nd owner i'd wouldn't be expecting anything from you.
9. I started with a pick, then a bit of both - now I never use a plectrum. When I try it it just doesn't feel right and sounds too thin for me.
10. I'd LOVE that VM Jazz but I hate being skint . I'll trade you for a night of hot passion with ped ?

12. I don't usually like Rics but that black/chrome affair has me all giddy.
13. I don't think they're any substitute for any of the models it tries to emulate. However if you're a recording artist and need lots of tones in one piece of wood (and silicon chips) then it's unbeatable.
14.
Bugger should never have sold this, I was well short of cash and things conspired, used it again a couple of times, she was well beat, but thats how I like em.
That is beautiful - i'd kick myself too .
15. Higher Ground funks it up for me - can't resist it.
16. I played on this when homer had it - amazingly gorgeous and just a dream to play.
17. I stack my MAG210 vertically and have the shallower EB12 combo on top. I couldn't have it the other way round as i'd experience the same problem as bobpalt.
18. I think anyone selling anything at the moment has noticed that selling anything is hard work, even when stupidly underpriced. People seem to have alot less spare cash available than they did a couple of years ago - a sign of the times ?
19. I found my Stingray a bit difficult to adapt to at first having no neck pickup, all ok now I'm used to it.
20. I defretted my Yamaha RBX775 as it was being underused. Sounds great - just wish I could do it justice.
21. Argh ! Don't trust anyone but yourself with your gear - it isn't worth the hassle.
22. Just got it - he played Higher Ground live at the clinic last year - I'm so glad it's on the album. Has a few tracks I don't think i'll listen to twice, but most are utterly fantastic.
23. Yep I agree with the above on PMT. Dave Sheriff is very knowledgeable and always happy to help you no matter what your budget.
