1. Yep - it's about 200 pages, of which 150-odd are transcriptions. It shouldn't be considered a biog.
2. This is it, and my copy has just arrived...
3. I'd love to get another - unfortunately it's not possible to spec a lightweight. Understandable, but a shame!
4. Nice!
5.
Have to confess, I've not read this entire thread, but does anyone here know where in Poland Maruszcyk are based? I'm going to Krakow and wondering if there's any chance of getting to try some basses.
Germany. :-)
6. Hello! Can you get an accurate weight of it..?
7. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Precision-Bass-Guitar-Usa-/272798499591
8.
Hardly surprising though... it's pretty blatant.
Yep.. a blatant rip-off of songs that were blatantly ripped off of songs that were blantantly ripped off... etc.
9.
most gigging musicians have no original bone in their body, all they can do is mimic someone else. A cover song is interesting until I learn it, then it's boring to play it, unless it's Zeppelin. But I don't look like JPJ so no tribute band will take me. Me, I've always preferred to play originals, to far fewer people and for far less money than a coverband would get. Young people these days only want to hear what they've been told to like, they want a song they've heard a zillion times because they know how to dance to it lol. we are regressing...."I don't beLIEVE it"
Can you post some of your stuff, so we can decide how original it is, please? As for me, I play originals and covers, and I don't really make any distinction.
10. I've always been a fan of early 70's (that said I'm thinking of springing for something 60s in the future). Differences... apart from cosmetic (tuners, decals, colours etc.) the big difference will probably be neck profile, with the '71 probably (but not necessarily) being chunkier front-to-back.
11. No ruffled feathers - just different points of view :-)
12. The Who totally started out doing covers, as many original bands do.
13.
Whilst this thread is kind of amusing in a car crash "how long before Mick asks for a refund whilst TE string him and ever other person along who's pre-ordered one" kind of way, it is intensely unamusing that after all this stress, hardship and chasing them to the gates of Hades for a delivery date, the amp (if it ever arrives) will probably be an underpowered matchbox gimmick only capable of holding it's own against a drummer with brushes. I can't see how a 200w class D amp will cut it in any loud situation at all. Were it 1000w I'd be saying it was genius, but not for 200w. I hope it doesn't go this way.
:-D
14. That nowadays money-grabbing music industry, eh? It's such a recent phenomenon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BKt07B3A6U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdSmokR0Enk ...etc.
15. Pretty sure he used the Washburn at Hyde Park, too.
16. Slapped fretless, innit? Incidentally, I just got the Hyde Park blu-ray the other day. It's bloody marvellous.
17. There is also - correct me if I'm wrong - another approach used in the likes of the Walkabout, which runs the valves at a higher voltage.. is that right?
18. Yeah.. I'm aware I keep banging on about the HandBox like a stuck record, but it's actually frustrating that an amp like this exists with such a low profile. It deserves to be massive, so I'm just going to shout it from the rooftops 🙂
19. My HandBox R-400 sounds beautiful - like, really beautiful - not like any head I've owned before. I wonder what it would sound like entirely SS? My guess is as they've gone to the effort of shoe-horning three valves into it, it's having some effect on the tone.
20. I can't comment about the indoor stuff, but I believe the outdoor gig had to be mixed from the stage. Nightmare.
21.
What's that by the bridge?
'Tis a mute.
22. Only one choice for my money... build your own. Go nuts.
23. FWIW neither of mine have this affliction...
24. "By the time I arrived at Joe Sabatini's bar, the rain was cascading from the eaves. At the far reaches of the bar, I could see the unmistakeable figure of Al Francesco, hunched over a scotch, with the collars of his raincoat keeping out the distractions around him. As I approached, I reached into my back pocket, and dropped my TE Elf onto the bar, next to his. I couldn't help but notice his was the slightly newer model, with subtly reworked graphics on the front of the case. This guy means business."
