1.
This might be controversial for all you Marus fans, but in my opinion there's something very off putting about the body shape of those Jakes. The original Fender shape is beautiful, a design classic. I don't know but perhaps it makes good use of the 'Golden Ratio', French curves and all that. The Jake looks like someone tried to make a Precision template drawn freehand in one attempt just from memory. I'm not saying all P/J clones need to faithfully copy the original. For instance the new Sandberg shapes I find very nice indeed!
Out of interest, what are you seeing? when I A/B my Jakes and '71 P's, the main visual difference I can see is that the pickguard on the lower horn of the Jakes is rounder than the P's. Apart from that, the Jakes have more of a scoop to the lower cutaway, and that's pretty much it...
 2.
Why did I think these basses were quite a lot cheaper than that?? Swear there was talk of £600 and £700 for a marusisjfhgysikz not so long ago?
Not quite that cheap. The stock basses can be a bit cheaper, though.
 3. ..in fact, I've built one for you. They don't do vintage olive, but hopefully it's not a dealbreaker. Lots of other colours to choose from, too. And it was so much cheaper, I've thrown in some Hipshot Ultralites and Hipshot bridge for you. Comes out at about 1100 quid.
 4. Play with this, build a better bass, and save a ton of money.
 5.
Exactly, that's us, We're tacky.
Oh really? Ha ha. The first one we played at, we laughed so hard during the Trilogy we got asked to leave
 6. TBH, when I think of the Confederate flag in a U.K. context, it just reminds me of the terrible Country and Western dos at holiday camps I played at a few times in the past. It's tacky.
 7.
Indeed. It doesn't take long to type confederate flag into Google and the first few hits are all from the last few days about various people taking down or refusing to take down the flags. Which don't seem to have been an issue up to now.
Ha ha ha. You dafty.
 8.
No. In the US upto about a year ago it was just seen by the majority of Americans as a symbol of southern American pride. It's only in the last few weeks it's become more than that by a larger proportion. The war wasn't about Slavery as such but the right to keep their lives the same, which included keeping slaves. Looks like an awful lot of big, long established American institutions are now hurriedly removing the flag from their premises, ensignia and regalia and distancing themselves from it. That's very sad.
You're just making this up, aren't you?
 9.
It's just one of the old pre-independence US flags.

I have absolutely no interest in American history
^^^ This is evident.
 10. Cheesy and obvious. Oh, and offensive to some people, too. Lose 'em.
 11. Good tunes and performances, strangled at birth by lifeless, plastic production.
 12. Total bargain. Awesome cabs!
 13. Freebo played one in the early 70s, maybe late 60s?
 14. ...and a quick check at 3:22 to see if he's going to miss his bus...
 15.
It's owned by José Enciso and is parked outside his diner/restaurant, 'Triple XXX Root Beer' near Issaquah, Washington State. Draws a fair bit of business from passing trade, as you'd expect.
Ta for the info. Here it is... I hope he's looking after it :-)
 16.
Buddy Holly's Tour Bus, 1958 'Er Indoors and The Boy are in Seattle visiting relatives. They went out for dinner this evening and came across this - Buddy Holly's Tour Bus, 1958. And they sent me a picture. Amazing that it still exists. Felt a bit weird seeing it really, a mixture of incredulity, a sense of musical history and an unexpectedly poignant feeling, too. Or maybe that's just the drugs.
That's marvellous! What's the crack with it? Is it in a museum, or...?
 17.
Is this a posthumous book?
Yes.
 18. It's not switch mode (I don't think?) - just a traditional supply.
 19. The sofa is in Germany, is it not..?
 20.
I'm pretty sure the Ashdown MAG in Whistlebinkies is old enough to be one of the class AB models, and the Orange is a solid state guitar amp, no valves. I wouldn't say that output topology is the issue here.
Ah, my mistake - fair comment. On a wider point, I do think output topology has a lot to answer for, but I guess it's been discussed ad infinitum on other threads...
 21. Strangely, most (if not all?) 600w class-D 'powerhouses' have hi-pass filters to remove the really power-soaking lows, yet a 120w valve head can outperform them. But watts is watts, right? *raises eyebrow*
 22. It's like molten lava! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2017-FENDER-PRECISION-1964-CUSTOM-SHOP-4-STRING-P-BASS-64-RELIC-3TSB-SPARKLE-/362068369033?hash=item544cf4de89:g:rhcAAOSwClJZjnxu
 23. ...|I don't think I've ever used a transcription in my life, TBH.
 24.
Anything Duck Dunn is good. . . . but if you can't get his bass lines from listening to the records you need to sharpen up your playing by ear more than you need transcrpitions.
I didn't buy it for that. I bought it for the first 50-odd pages.
