  1. Hi all,in my quest/wish to achieve an all home grown set up I’ve come across these but haven’t had time to try one yet.I prefer a clean/quick responsive type amp but not averse to being able to dial in some grit at all.i use barefaced cabs with tweeters.many years ago my first proper amp was a laney pro bass combo which served me very well.Any thoughts /experiences would be appreciated please.I noticed andertons in Guildford sell them which is pretty local to me. the videos I’ve found are informative but just wondering about real word experience/reliability etc. any comments greatly received.cheers
  2. +1 to all the above comments. Second to none for customer services imo
  3. Hi there, please let me know if this becomes available .thanks
  4. Played a one hour set at the marvellous festival near Bracknell/Wokingham way with ‘ no jacket required ‘ Phil Collins tribute.sun was shining, crowd were fantastic and the backstage crew and organisers were brilliant getting bands on/off with minimal hassle.all round a very enjoyable time! Great stuff x😊
  5. Although I do own American and Japanese basses, these days I pretty much always use British gear .wal/status/barefaced but like you Chris b I can’t think of/haven’t tried a decent lightweight amp built in this country so still use my tecamp puma 900 which I have to say is a fantastic bit of kit..if a decent British built non valve head came on the market I definitely get one! Aren’t barefaced developing an amp??
  6. Glen frey ‘ the heat is on ‘ and Phil Collins ‘sussudio’ are great bass lines of this type to emulate
  7. Well I never had the pleasure of meeting him,but sounds like a wonderful guy.A great loss for the bass playing community and may I offer my sincere condolences to all his family and friends x
  8. I have these on my swb standard Chowny bass and definitely make the bass sound tighter and punchier to my ears.i upgraded to damarzio pickups aswell.great little bass.in fact I prefer it to the swb pro I brought on here too!
  9. Really wanna try one of these!
  10. Looks great with loads of features and undoubtably berg quality, just wish more amps these days had built in tuners like I believe their other one has? I also can’t fathom why they don’t put the tilt back casters on more of the cabs? Basic stuff really but think they’d sell more products if they did
  11. Think you’d do alot worse than try a barefaced bb2
  12. Fantastic! May the bass be with you my friend x
  13. These basses are up there with the best! No question about it.lovely bass.!!
  14. Hey Tim,pretty sure they use 45to100 sets.i asked the same question
  15. For me it’s a Wal into a puma 900 into a barefaced bb2 or super12t.thats all I’ve ever wanted really:-)
  16. Wow this looks interesting! Love the form factor as opposed to standard 4x10 units, think the extra height would help you hear it better standing nxt to it and defo easier to get through doorways etc.Now if it only had tilt back wheels and a top handle I reckon it would be pretty well perfect.only 47lbs for a 4x10 ! Crazy! Would love to have a blast on one:-) x

  17. Done a gig in dorking last weekend, keyboardist left his pointy edged stand leaning up against a circular shelf around a column.muggings here turned around, nudged it slightly and it fell and smashed on of his keys to bits! (Keyboard was in a soft case on floor) luckily after a while he got over it and actually played a blinder on said synth! Said nxf time I’ll bring a hammer and bolster and tap a few more if it gets the best out of him!! :-)
  18. Ok thanks mr chowny! :-) x cheers!
  19. Best small head out there I reckon, brilliant things
  20. The swb1 is a fab little bass,i asked chowny a few months ago if they could upgrade the innards of mine to pro spec and how much it would cost, they said their guitar tech guy would contact me with details but never did:-( I eventually put dimarzio model j pickups in it which has improved it,Can anyone recommend a pre amp upgrade please? Thanks x
  21. That is amazing! What wood/ finish is that then ??
  22. ‘Twas a nice little shop, fairly local to me and used to pop quite often.
  23. Fantastic little basses these! Without wanting to derail this do the DiMarzios fit right in with no mods, I’m looking to replace my pups too, want a bit more mid punch on the bridge one, but don’t know what would be the best aftermarket one, so much choice! Thanks
