An unusual gig this morning at a classic car breakfast meet down in Hampshire with the new funk band and then back home to Horsham to play at kings Lea school fate this afternoon with some old musician friends. Really enjoying my GB Spitfire 5 since it came out back from a service by Bernie recently. Sounds fantastic though the puma and LFsys Monzas . Now to enjoy a nice relaxing evening ( not playing) x😊

Didn’t some of them suffer from warped necks at some point? Maybe it’s one of those? -
Just got hold of a trb5 mk1, absolutely blown away by how good these buggers are! A tad under 34 inch scale and the b string is amazing . Very versatile. Enjoy yours x

Ok , so it was actually Saturday night just gone but we had a fab local one for us at the hawth theatre in Crawley, 600 tickets sold, and such an appreciative audience. I recently purchased a Trb 5 mk1 Yamaha, one with the ‘slap cut’ recess. Second show I’ve done with it and I’m bloody well blown away by how good it is! The b string is sooo good, i never imagined I’d get on with the wide neck, but it’s nice and shallow and seems to fit me like a glove! Lightweight as well ( from what I’m used to anyway) the B string actually interacts with the other strings and is so useable.Ironic as it’s by far the cheapest 5 string I have. happy days! X

Yes I still own the puma 900 and am still very happy with its performance 😊

I’m in Horsham, West Sussex and have two Monzas if you are around my way and want to try them 😊

Glad you like it, I had one too, but strangely, out of all the barefaced cabs i owned (5) it was the one i couldn’t get on with.I suppose it did make me realise that i preferred cabs with tweeters

Bloody tragic, another home grown company gone FFS!! ☹️

Yes i played that one in bass direct direct but decided against getting it. I’ve got the slapcut bolt on job though I am on the lookout for a trb5p . I paid £730 for mine and it’s 33 7/8 i believe. The action was pretty low but I’ve managed to get it even lower. Funny because I’ve never particularly been a fan of wide necks but it just seems to fit like a nice glove! Appy days! Cheers terry x

I recently brought a trb5 mk1 off the very nice joe geezer on here( though he was selling it on eBay. The thing is absolutely amazing for the money I paid, and all I can say is the legendary reputation is totally justified. It’s just under 34”scale and the B string note definition has blown me away.😊.very lightweight aswell x

I’m glad you’re liking your cab, whilst I don’t play double bass, i have a pair of the Monza 10” cabs and can confirm they are fantastic little units too. . One does me for 90% of gig situations .Stevie is very easy to deal and has great products. It’s nice to support small home grown businesses. For the record, I’ve owned loads of different barefaced cabs too what served me very well.keep enjoying your sound! 😊x

How far have you travelled to pick up a Bass?

I drove 550 miles to Preston and back to pick up a Wal Mk 1 . Bloody long day but no regrets!! X 😊 -
My main amp for a good few years has been the Tecamp puma 900, forerunner of the eich t900. I tried loads before I settled on it.It can be all whatever you want it to be, very versatile and easy to use. Some have said it’s sterile, but by simply using the’taste’ function it is anything but. Quick, punchy and loud.would definitely try the eich 900. I think they are virtually the same. Form factor tiny aswell. Good luck with your search x

To feet or not to feet, that is the question...
tubbybloke68 replied to TRBboy's topic in Amps and Cabs
I decided to put feet on my LFSYS monzas as i felt the locking corners didn’t feel stable enough when stacked. l also used a flexible adhesive and measured the screws carefully beforehand and am very happy with the results. Road testing a new cab hey?? Oooo that’s a teaser! Pray tell ….🤣x -

I’ve just bagged a yammy Trb mk1 5 off of the very nice Joe geezer on here for substantially under the OPs budget. The thing is unbelievable in terms of quality/sound and value for money. I own quite a few high end 5ers and the B string on this is as good if not better than most of’em . Go second hand every time! Good luck with your quest! X

Just got my recently acquired spitfire 5 back from a general make over, new nut, fret dress etc. Absolutely chuffed! A lovely few hours spent with Bernie and Jim down at the Brighton basement. Great guys! X

Hi, it’s a 3D printed dummy PU stuck on with double sided tape. It’s positioned at my ‘sweet spot’ . Think it looks much better than a thumb rest. Also have one on my Wal pro reissue, match the exsisting single PU . Sorry to disappoint you!! X -

I very rarely need to use both, but it’s a very nice luxury to have when I do decide to take both.
