How far have you travelled to pick up a Bass?
tubbybloke68 replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in Bass Guitars
I drove 550 miles to Preston and back to pick up a Wal Mk 1 . Bloody long day but no regrets!! X 😊 -
My main amp for a good few years has been the Tecamp puma 900, forerunner of the eich t900. I tried loads before I settled on it.It can be all whatever you want it to be, very versatile and easy to use. Some have said it’s sterile, but by simply using the’taste’ function it is anything but. Quick, punchy and loud.would definitely try the eich 900. I think they are virtually the same. Form factor tiny aswell. Good luck with your search x

To feet or not to feet, that is the question...
tubbybloke68 replied to TRBboy's topic in Amps and Cabs
I decided to put feet on my LFSYS monzas as i felt the locking corners didn’t feel stable enough when stacked. l also used a flexible adhesive and measured the screws carefully beforehand and am very happy with the results. Road testing a new cab hey?? Oooo that’s a teaser! Pray tell ….🤣x -

I’ve just bagged a yammy Trb mk1 5 off of the very nice Joe geezer on here for substantially under the OPs budget. The thing is unbelievable in terms of quality/sound and value for money. I own quite a few high end 5ers and the B string on this is as good if not better than most of’em . Go second hand every time! Good luck with your quest! X

Just got my recently acquired spitfire 5 back from a general make over, new nut, fret dress etc. Absolutely chuffed! A lovely few hours spent with Bernie and Jim down at the Brighton basement. Great guys! X

Do you multiple cabs from the same company, what do you have & why?

Hi, it’s a 3D printed dummy PU stuck on with double sided tape. It’s positioned at my ‘sweet spot’ . Think it looks much better than a thumb rest. Also have one on my Wal pro reissue, match the exsisting single PU . Sorry to disappoint you!! X -

I very rarely need to use both, but it’s a very nice luxury to have when I do decide to take both. -

Are my band expectations simply too high?
tubbybloke68 replied to NancyJohnson's topic in General Discussion
Like when a band advertises a vacancy, you express interest, send a few video clips of your playing etc and they can’t even be bothered to say thanks but no thanks sort of thing.obviously there’s a lot better players out there than myself , but at the same time i wouldn’t rate myself as crap ! I’d call it common courtesy?? Sp prehaps my expectations ARE too high?🤣. Drivers or cyclists not using indicators/hand signals expecting you to be telepathic in knowing what they’re gonna do Dog owners decorating bushes with their shit bags and conveniently forgetting to take them home. Going for a walk and saying ‘good morning’ to someone and just getting ignored or at best some type of inaudible grunt. oh i could go on ….🤣 room 101 beckons! Yep! I my expectations of people are definitely too high 🤣, or I’m just getting grumpy with age 🤣x -
What really impacts on your bass tone?
tubbybloke68 replied to KingPrawn's topic in General Discussion
I must admit I’ve never used effects, when I did briefly experiment many many years ago i just found myself disappearing in the band mix .like someone else said, I’ve been to watch too many gigs where the bass sound has been one big inaudible mush/rumble with no definition. Therefore i always turn the bass control on my amp down to 10’o clock, and boost the mids on the bass itself.90% of the time I’m playing on the bridge pickup. Yes, it can sound a bit honky on stage i suppose but i do seem to get alot of positive comments about my sound WITH the band from out front, so im quite happy to pay that price. -

Here you go! Unfortunately one of its previous owners decided to put the strap holders in different positions, so it has a couple of excess screw holes in it. Shame but shit happens I suppose x

‘He’s bloody good with a plectrum that bugger! X

My lot at the SE Bassbash a while ago . Love ‘em!! X
-
Yes they are heavy basses, but personally it has never bothered me, and still doesn’t even now I’m a lot older. As long as you’ve a nice wide strap,no problem. They were just SO well made, quality indeed 😊
-
Love the old Ibanez basses, still got my mc924 I’ve had new since ‘83 . She’s well battered , not through abuse, just general use and tonnes of gigs . Fantastic instruments and proper ‘80’s ! 😊x

We all wonder if we’re doing the right thing sometimes.Did you voice your concerns about the ‘issues’ ? If they value you, then maybe they might bend a bit now, and compromise on certain aspects? If the situation is irreversible, then i wish you all the best in your future ventures, and never say never regarding getting involved with another band, something might just pop up! . All da best, Jeff
