Great first show of two this weekend at the lovely Trading Boundaries venue in East Sussex, fairly local for us. Roy and Rob the sound guys are great and always do us proud. Fantastic sound out the GB Spitfire /puma/LFsys Monza set up. Very receptive audience as always, nice not to have to break everything down, just take my basses home . Looking forward to tonight’s one now . Happy Christmas everyone! Xx😊

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2025?
tubbybloke68 replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Acquired two basses this year, early in January a Goodfellow spitfire 5, and then in the spring time a Yammy trb5 mk1 slapcut job . Both completely different but I’m really enjoying that, and it’s a privilege to be the lastest custodian of them x -

Just back from our gig at The Stables, Milton Keynes. We always sell out, such a special venue, wonderful staff (mostly volunteers) and such an appreciative audience. Took the Smithy up for a blast as I’ve been reacquainting myself with her lately. Fantastic! A guy last year unbelievably donated £1000 to our homeless charity we collect for, and blow me he done exactly the same last night!! Incredibly humbling peoples generosity, it really is! Great night as usual up there x 😊

LFSys and Barefaced Questions - Super Compact, Monaco and Monza?
tubbybloke68 replied to Linus27's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have two Monzas but often use just one, they are extremely capable units and every time I’m lugging out after a rehearsal/gig I’m pretty sure I made the right choice over the Monaco…. though it doesn’t stop me wanting one! I have versatility now when needed. I doubt very much you’ll be disappointed . Go for it! X -
G. Gould Basses - some internet nostalgia

Oooo liking the headstock too, sort of reminds me of that friendly old horse we’ve all met whilst out walking int‘countryside who plods over to ya and sticks his head over the fence and tries to nibble ya hand off ….. or am i just losing it? 🤣x -
I’m so sorry to hear this for you Greg, not much help i know but i can only offer you my sincerest best wishes for the future mate. Hope treatments go as best as possible for you. Bless you mate x

They're rubbish!! or maybe you just don't like them
tubbybloke68 replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
Well to be honest from my perspective anyway it was a joke ! Of course I don’t ‘hate’ him! I’ve never met the bloke! Just have always found his voice irritating. But! As others have said musically speaking the smiths had some great moments. -

Morning! Everyone is entitled to their opinion, just some are more vocal about it than others., which is fine in itself as long as they don’t try to ‘ram it down my throat’ so to speak. Personally I’ve yet to find any type of P bass that remotely interested me but hey ho! I appreciate that they’re probably the most widely used bass ever! As regards Morissey well….🤣x -
My stingray neck needs adjustment quite often, it’s roasted (pretty sure anyway) . It’s one of the later ones, charcoal sparkle, yet my USA Sterling is very stable and a fair bit older. They’re both stored in the same room in the house too. X

KEN SMITH BLACK TIGER 5 - *WITHDRAWN*
tubbybloke68 replied to tubbybloke68's topic in Basses For Sale
It’s amazing! What on earth was I thinking putting this up?? 🤣.Been re acquainting myself with this beauty over the last couple of weeks and just back from a funk/soul band rehearsal and wow, with a bit of mid boost this thing cuts like a knife through a mix . So I’m going to withdraw this please, I’m not ever gonna get something better than this! Cheers x -
My old vinyl Hawkwind album warriors on the edge of time has a track called the demented man on the cover, but the inside of the actual record says ‘the demented king’ . Dunno if they are all like that but still enjoy listening to it. Used to love playing the album with a few cans and smokes back in the day… x

Yeah I did move it round a bit before we started, so many bloody cables behind it as usual. Yes the yammy’s been a bit of a revelation since I got it actually. Extremely light bass as well, quite handy seeing as it was a very long setlist last night! all my best, Jeff

Another dep job tonight (seem to be doing alot lately) with a fairly local funk/soul outfit down in a Worthing pub. Went well I think, the band members seemed very happy with my performance. Used my yammy TRB 5 through my trusty puma 900 and a single LFsys Monza. Very happy with that rig. Pissing down for the load out but hey ho! A fun evening! X

Just seen this ☹️x

He and Geddy Lee my biggest influences by far.XTC, a totally unique , eccentric band that sounded like no other. Amazing stuff.

I hope you enjoy your Monza , I decided to get two at the time …. Just because…. Well y’know! .It’s nice to have that luxury even if you don’t always need it 😊.They do indeed sound sublime together but i regularly use just one. They are very capable units.

Best wishes on future endeavours!

Hi folks, don’t sell much on here, usually end up buying instead 🤣.This thing is pretty special, only putting this up for the usual reasons of too many other basses etc, oh and the fact I need a new van for work!! Any try out is of course most welcome and actively encouraged, kettle’s always on! Weight is 4.4kg. UK sale only and I won’t post. If anyone is seriously interested in this I’m sure they would what to try it first as I indeed would! many thanks for looking kind regards Jeff

Hi Dave, just lately I’ve been using my GB spitfire 5 or a fairly recently acquired Yamaha trb5 mk1 . I’m very lucky to have such a choice I guess. All the best mate x
