I was in a certain band for about 15 yrs, great players and people (well most of the time 🤣) We’d all say’must update the set’ but nothing would get done! Guess I was the one that used to suggest it the most. so after 14 years or so we finally started to learn more/new stuff and it was a revelation! Everyone agreed the newbies sounded great and it seemed to give everyone a boost, audience feedback was not suprisingly very positive. Then out of the blue the singer turned round and said he ‘wasn’t feeling it anymore’ and jacked it in! People are strange ……🥴.Really whizzed me off at the time 🤣

Ok, thanks for your reply, the digbeth aren’t particularly compact though, I thought Laney were a bit late to the party, but correct in introducing the sls heads to keep up with the other manufacturers going lightweight and modern looking y’know .I think the digbeth just look a bit’dated’ and old fashioned, but each to his/her own I guess .

These appear to be discontinued? Anyone know why? The reviews and opinions of them were very positive i thought? Seems a shame? Were they actually U.K. built?

Like someone else said, solid but very interesting player who could throw in some pretty dam technical phases/fills when he wanted to. Always thought of them as “ prog punk” for want of a better term. I’m pretty sure he was playing a modulus graphite both times I saw them. The prairie prince wasn’t too shabby either! Amazing stuff indeed! X

That’s really sad news, fantastic players all of ‘em . Saw them at the Brook, Southampton a couple of times. So entertaining. Gutted

Double header , Friday and Saturday night at Trading boundaries in East Sussex with No jacket required Phil Collins tribute. Great venue and atmosphere.we do these every year about this time, punters have a sit down meal etc and we come on after the food is done, generally about 9.30pm. Played both my WAL 5,s different one per evening. Really enjoyable. Happy Christmas everyone xx🥰

What abou Brian Eastwood? The prototype short scale that he made for Scott Whitley looked bloody amazing, the forerunner of the chowny swb production ones.Beautiful workmanship I thought

Hi everyone, apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere, has anyone experience of these new models? Are they even out yet? I’ve never owned any EBS gear but it’s quality stuff isn’t it?? Form factor/weight looks very appealing to me on this one. Any views gratefully received. many thanks, jeff

Ibanez Musician, my life long friend :)

Wonderful basses indeed! Mine is battered a bit now but every time I play her it’s like putting on that old pair of boots that are soooo comfortable 🤣. My only gigging rig for 20 years, that bugger and a AH300 series 6 …… then I stumbled across Basschat 🤣x -

If you don’t already know the song, XTCs ‘the mayor of simpleton’ is a fantastic example of a melodic bass line. colin moulding was/is a master at coming up with quirky, very unusual and unique ideas I’d say. 😎

Absolutely correct in my opinion too. Think the last musician basses were nicknamed the ‘bean bass’ regarding the body shape .The latter ones, as mine have much more slimmer/shallow necks I believe? Wonderful instruments indeed. Enjoy!

Oops, sorry think I’m getting the hang of this picture lark now 🤣x

I got my mc924 in 1985 from a little shop called tiger music , Sydney st Brighton.I fell in love with it after playing it in there but was genuinely 50 quid short of the asking price £450. I was absolutely gutted and I think the bloke took pity on me as I left the shop with a hang dog expression with my mate and trudged off down the street.we’d gone about 50 yds down the street and he came out the door and shouted at me that i could have it. Never run so fast in my life back there and kept thanking him so much, guess my face must’ve said it all !Still have her to this day, very well used with various scars but oh what a bloody gorgeous thing, beautiful shallow neck and like someone else said, on the back pup with a bit of top rolled off THAT sound, very Wal ish, thick, punchy smooth. wonderful basses.I have actually tried various Arias from the same era, but I know where my money would go. Good luck in your quest anyway. Best regards, jeff
