1. I used to use TE'S in various rehearsal rooms over the years. At the time ,I thought they looked and sounded great. Last experience ? : I had a 350 watt gp7sm combo, for a few months. Trouble started when I got my Tele Bass. The guitarist we had at the time ,hated the sound. Mr. Drums said it sounded' wooley'. Anyway, we did our first gig as a unit. The singer's sister recorded a rough copy. And despite all my running around etc. the bass was very hard to pickup. My Eden Nemesis combo (which is still available for sale/trade) wipes the floor with it. You don't need to mention my Aguilar.... I did initially miss the Trace when sold, but the Aguilar fits in with the furniture in my flat
2. I would've thought early 90's.wonder What does he do for an encore?
3. Sad times. I was gonna go and try to get a gig at the Red Lion at the weekend. No need to now. Strange pub,was a Filthy Mac pub for a bit. It's hard enough to find places as it is. The coach and Horses, is that closing too?? I find the guvnor (Richard) to be more interested in making a few bob, rather than look after the bands . (ie ,he'll charge £5.00 admittance fee wether ther's 2 or 22 people watching) Looks like we may be reverting to playing with ourselves ,if ther's nowhere for us
4. Ugh! That bass is awful ! (only my opinion tho')
5.
Having seen GnR open the 'Maidens show at Donnington 88, very impressed at how a thrown about Duff bass has maintained it's good looks? (Sadly Gnr were s^!*e at that gig)
I was there. Couldn't see much of them. It was the fist time I saw a crowd running backward and forward at a gig simultaneously.Dangerous. Thought they were good ,altho' they were too big for the early support slot on that tour. They played 'patience' which altho' is imho a classic ,wasn't released at the time . We were baffled as to what all the whistling was about
6.
Just got a Zoom b2.1u. Similar to the digitech I think. It's good and fairly well regarded on the forum (i think)
They're good and not too expensive either
7.
I really want a Univox Hi-Flier bass at the moment:
nice chick ! I think univox did various weird shapes ,whic h I'd like ( surf'n turf??)
8.

cool
9. Obviously ,too many . But at the moment ,I'm thinking bright yellow kubicki -ex factor . (not the simon cowell model) Then there's the hamburger bass with whammy bar, and ............
10. Could've been 'plaid bye daiv Mostang of miggadith , or Kenny Keeng of Sprayer'' I'll get me coat
11.
I just jizzed a little.
14. Haven't got the teeth,or the squeaky voice
15. Damn ! Never saw Lizzy, altho' I did see Phil at motorhead 10th anniversary gig I can imagine him upstairs ,with his father in law Lesley crowther ..... Come on down
16. I was in this bluesy cover band,a couple of years ago. They played ancient songs(obscure singles from 60'70s) Trouble is ,every other week it seemed ,they put capo's on their guitars and altered the tuning . I borrowed one for a song , but it felt and sounded wrong in our opinion. Apparently a 5 string is more convenient . (for me anyway) I'd say 'horses for courses' . If it works for you ,cool. If not, it's not the end of the world .
17. You may wanna go headless! (Think Status/Steinberger),or short scale (mustang?) As for amps,Walkabout Scout , Aguilar,Markbass etc. Or ,if there's anyone in the band who doesn't mind being your roadie.....
18. Schecters are great basses. Similar to spectors imho. I'd say try as many basses you can,you may find that there is one you tried earlier and nothing's as good as that. That would probably be the one.
19. Yep ! Hats off to a great forum, where I too am spending way too much time here. Happy new year all......
20. Shame . He's good . Saw him down at the Eel pie club in Twickenham a few times .
21. Nice bass
22. My first 'learning' bass, was a hondo 2 (precision copy). It was basically an oversized treetrunk with wire. My first 'proper' bass was a Washburn Status ,which I still have. I got it in 88' or 89 ,when they were all the rage. I had a hohner 'stick' bass , but the sound wasn't as good as the Washburn. Sold that, and now I have a Steiney XM2 . Headless are great. You should try one out.
23. Ahem........! Mine is loved by the band ! In terms of looks ,and sounds......(made in korea , basswood body) The original ,was a Kramer Duke Bass.(Tho' Mr. Anthony did use Yamaha ones for a while)
24. Don't forget the ''badtz marou'' bass . (by bronco)
25. Had a friend stay at my place ,after a gig. (2003?) He said there was a new music shop at the bottom of 'virgin Tott CT.RD, (soundcontrol) . I saw a lovely bass on the wall ,looking at me. It was a 5 string, it was a schecter Ended up buying it there and then . Joined band, never used it there . (only doodling at home) Suddenly ,this year , new guitarist starts playing stuff in low d etc. Been using alot over last few months. I find that it's easier to learn songs on a 5 than a 4 . The way I do it is ,start playing from the centre of the neck (roughly 5th-7th fret). That way,I recognise by ear the sound as I play usually on a 4 string. Only thing I find with the 5 ,is that the G string gets minimal use. (Playing covers at the mo') I may take the g string off I have been bringing 2 basses to practices, but at present we are doing everything in standard tuning,so I'm using a 4 again.
