1. Will give it a try
2. Like using the Zoom pedal, but that noise is doing my head in. Sounds like I'm crushing a rodent with my foot.(which is very cruel) Should I use wd 40 or something? Please advise
3.
I'd bet it will help a lot more than any commercial moisturizer & it's 100% natural. Have you got a plant? A mate years ago working as a scaffolder used to always piss on his hands & rub it in, he said it was the only thing to stop your hands cracking, working outdoors all weather. Worth a try - wash your hands before playing though
That scaffolder ,sounds a bit like a p**taker...(gets coat)....
4. All of the above mentioned, are top notch quality basses You could possibly add an original Steinberger,to your list If you're gonna sell/buy equipment ,you'd do much better here than flea bay.
5. I've just been playing around on my,Kustom KBA 16 . A nice, cheap, fairly small practice combo. Maybe you want something like that.
6.
Depending on what bass it is, I'd be tempted just to leave it as it is... it adds to the mojo
me too. Sanding it down,(or attempting to) could make it a lot worse. What bass is it? What does the pic look like of the whole bass?
7. may seem a sill question but, have you checked the bass(battery) ,the amp head(dirty pots) and the cables?
8. A live nation event? No f***ing way! They make hassle of selling gig tkts to people as it is! I think that the novelty,of going to these things has gone for me now. I've got enough equipment as it is ,and don't need to do this anymore. I've been to a few indoor ones in the past, but got bored of it .
9. Wow! Thanks again for all your help. I suppose ,when you see something'different' from the norm basswise, you do start to wonder. Must say that I had a result, as I've been looking on 'n' off for sometime . I expect to get some strange looks, and plenty of comments from the band nxt wk. Now to get the new strings sorted..........
10. Actually, it does look like neck is a bit f***ed I looked at other ones on the net. Wonder how much I'll get stung for adjustment. It's a 'set neck' . Hopefully ,it's not set too badly. It does need new strings anyway, but I don't really wanna fork out a huge amount for a 'bargain bass'.
11.
I'd agree with that. The fretboard itself looks flat; it's just the bottom edge of the neck that's been kind of chamfered off. Maybe it's supposed to look cool. Give it a couple of years though, and there'll be enough dust in that gap that there won't be a gap any more.
oh, there's dust in there I'm beginning to feel reassured (he says ,crossing his fingers)
12. I'm a bit confused I've got one (purchased'88) It's a ''24-fret phenolic neck made under licence from status uk''. What's a ''phenolic neck''? There's me thinking I had this, bright sounding, graphite necked ,headless bass........
13. Lemmy is the man
14.
Im certainly no expert but it looks like its meant to be that way. And you say it plays ok.. if its sounds good too, enjoy it!
Hope you're right. (just looks a bit odd I think) Thanks for your kind words
15. Well, I managed to track down camera,(and tiny usb lead!!) please advise,if you can I think it looks worse close up,gulp!
16. if you're gonna pay for something,I'd just forget about using the amp,and get a recording interface from say line 6 (toneportgx). If you want something more adventurous ,you could go for something like reason or logic. There are thousands of things you can do on those. Free stuff: Audacity
17. Still here...(Cabbie bass not needed now)
18. Thanks for your replies folks. I will ,at some stage upload a couple of pics. At the moment, my relatively new phone is hopeless with apple macs. So ,when I find my camera, I'll upload. Back to the issue, I think it's a combination of what you've both said. Set/glued neck deliberately (hopefully) det in a certain position, with room for a shim Any more ideas? Cheers
19. I have just collected my Dean Cabbie bass in bright yellow. (flea bay bargain) I know it needs new strings. I've played it at different times in the office, and briefly at home to test the electrics. Well, everything feels/sounds ok,but there may be a neck issue. (please tell me it's not too serious ) Condition wise,I'd say it's about 9 out of 10. (Slight corrosion at bridge. No dent's/scratches/chips etc.) However, around the 23rd fret the neck seems to be missing glue towards the pickup. The neck looks like it's rising slightly (gap about the size if a 2p coin) Question is, is this seriously damaged ? Or is it a quick fix by mr. repairman? Things to bear in mind are, if it's too costly to fix I won't bother. Also ,as I mentioned above , it plays ok . Please bear in mind,it's a big hollowbody bass.neck thru, not bolt on . Please advise Cheers
20. Not my cup of tea either. Reminds me of one of those'80s funk basses.
