1. Thanks for that. I 'll probably have to get from Apple tho' ,as I'm mac and the cheaper ones are pc. Geetting annoyed when my tutorial book refers to loops that are not on version 7 . Either my files are corrupted ,or it's just basic loops. I did checkout that guys you tube site, but what I'm after isn't on there (ie beginning logic 7 etc) Maybe it's just me Will probably order upgrade to logic 9 tomorrow. Cheers for now
2.
Thanking you all for your input. One question I do have tho': I'm on logic express 7 The layout is different to logic pro. and different from the tutorial book I mentioned. Is it worth upgrading to logic express9 ,and if I do so,is the layout the same as logic pro 8 /9? (i understand it's the express version, and iI don't need all of the other features yet) Please advise Cheers
5.
a sitar
God no! I hate ravi schenker ,Kashmere etc. Thanks for your suggestion tho'
6. Thanks folks! Still wondering ....
7. Thanks for your advice folks! (more needed). Will look at that you tube clip later Today , I followed book. It's a pain at the moment. (most loops not playing! ) Looking for the basic controls is awkward as well,as it's more aimed at logic pro. Will persist, and give my good friend a call who gave it to me as a present. Aaaargh!
8. Active bass? My washburn status ,kept picking up bbc radio, and local taxi stations at band practice a few times. It's now passive
9.
Harp...they are quiet...'ish and still a string instrument ...failing that comb and greaseproof paper
Harp: expensive? Comb and paper? Yeah, could do a jimi Hendrix (crosstown traffic)

11.
Hi Ray how you doing ? An electric piano could be a really useful one y'know. I run one through a 10 watt yamaha amp and it's fine in my flat with neighbors attached. Also goes through headphones too. Hi essex ,yeah I have keyboard, and logic(see other post) At my age ,learning piano doesn't appeal to me. Difficult .(tho' electric does sound nice) Thanks tho'
12.
Air guitar! Nothing is more neighbour friendly than that!!!!!!!! Thumb piano? Banjo? Electric violin?
Done the air guitar, back in my headbanging days. Banjo? too loud Violin? mmmmmmmm(thinking)
13. Howdy! I was thinking on and off to myself wether it's time to learn another instrument. The drawback is that I live in a 1st flr maisonnette. This means that, wind instruments such as trumpets ,clarinets are out. I like the look of those electronic drums( rubber?) ,but I'm not sure if that'll work. Even the triangle wouldn't work Any ideas??
14. Howdy! I have the above ,and am determined to put it to good use. I'm gonna be using the book 'Logic pro8 creating and producing professional music' by David Nahmani. Now ,I'm no professional (nor will I be) . I'm a semi-beginner. The thoughts and questions I have are :Why do all these recording interfaces involve graphs? (years ago, in the day of audiocassette, peak meters were the way forward.Simples!) Is it better to go to a course instead,on a 1-1 basis? Work /tiredness/laziness gets in the way,and I keep stop/starting. I'm a simple lad, 4 strings ,sometimes 5 . Effects sometimes, and an amp. Of course ,I'm using a mac mini ,which Logic is on ,but thats as technical as it gets.. Cheers
15. No disrespect, but that is no steinberger. I think it looks like a (very) poor imitation. Run as fast as you can from this
16. Hate: Beatles Hofner bass Steinberger imitators Jaydee bass (except yellow) Fender precisions Fender imitators Lots of Knobs on a bass looks of some ashdown amps lack of volume controls on some bass effect units The look of some acoustic /hollowbody basses peavey amps Like: Steinberger basses Look of some Dean basses ie Taxi /zone /dimebag with razor bladein green Telecaster basses walnut bodies in various finishes Schecter diamond series basses the look of some hollowbody bassses eden nemesis blue combos aguilar db cabinets in various colours kubicki basses -yet to own one the look of trace elliot amps portable amps/combos etc bass whammy bars That'll do for now
17. I suppose if they play/sound okay , one could be purchased , left in the traffic for a while, then voila a 'roadworn' bass
18. Found adjusting easy enough, but I find it more awkward playing stuff on the G string. I'm adjusting the patterns ,that used to be involving the g string on different part of the neck. Was thinking of getting one of my other basses adjusted in a shop to be permanently B E A D , and selling my 5 . Either that ,or possibly remove g string altogether ....
19. I've been in a few conversations with various people about the pub situation. We generally thought about three things that ruined it for us: Recession No smoking over£3.00 a pint . What do you think?
20.
The Red Lion is going to be a Tesco Metro. Pub shut last night. Boooo. This is why our gig on the 21st is a moveable feast at the moment. Might now be on at the Twickenham Tup?
There was talk of a Tesco Metro,at the petrol staton up the road from there a few years back . oh well......

22.
I felt very sad when Joe Strummer died, Johnny Cash' death also affected me a bit but was tempered by the thought that he really missed June and maybe he would rather not be around without her. Others who's death pissed me off are Townes Van Zandt, John Lennon, Malcolm Owen of the Ruts ( I believe that he would have become a very talented and respected songwriter had he not got involved with smack). I will probably cry like a baby when Levon Helm goes.
Forgot about Johnny cash. Legend
23. Well,Elvis was a household name when I was growing up ,and I was a young kid when he died. He was a great loss to the world ,and it's good that he's remembered. Tho', I'm still trying to get my head round Chinese Elvis, Elvis in Tesco's etc. Wasn't much of a Doors fan, but I think Jim Morrisson was a genius ,tho' losing the plot abit near the end. Lucky to have seen Bon Scott and AC/DC on the Highway to hell tour (my 1st 'proper' concert ) A legend imho Met Bob Calvert ,,and it was sad about him. Same with Cliff Burton. Then you hear of people like Robbin crosby/Layne Stayley ,who lived the dream but the drugs got them . As for John Lennon ,despite being one of the most talented songwriers ever I'm gonna be unpopular here with my views on him. Sorry, but I found him to be too opinionated, too political and I hate that Christmas song ..and Imagine! He died on my birthday . I feel more sorrow for Diamond Darrel of Pantera, who also died on my birthday.(Got shot too actually) As for the future, when Lemmy passes that that will be truly sad. One of the most larger than life characters ever. Bono? A day of celebration . Cue:angry response
