1. Was a huge Hawkfan, up until '87 . The Xenon codex being the last album I have. Yeah,I agree with 97 or so % of people that Lemmy is/was the man. Did like Harvey Bainbrdige and Adrian Shaws playing(High Rise). Lemmy on Orgone Accumulator rocks big time. Somehow lost interest in Hawkwind after Codex. There was alot of overpriced, legal bootleg vinyl in the '80s that was put in awful sleeves. The weird tapes were great tho'. May try to hunt down the cd equivalent one day. Recently met up with an old friend I haven't seen for years. He took a pic of my bass collection. Then he asked me why I haven't got a Rick Bass. Don't really know to be honest. I always remember an old Ricky of Lemmy's was for sale in the Record and tape exchange. Never got it as I was too young and skint. Coulldn't play much then Must say that the Sonic Attack tour was one of the best
2. aaarrghh! my eyes!
3. Think it's a shortscale bass,so shortscale bass strings. Probably on fleabay
4.
Thanks for the offer but I don't need another amp at the moment. I've got no internet connection until tomorrow now (thanks to my fantastic ISP) so full pictures up then. As for trades I may be interested in a decent cab, 4x10 or 2x12 etc but I'd really prefer cash as I have something on order that needs paying for.
Thanks for reply, have a bump
5. £30.00 collected? I'll be checking to see if I still have my gigbag(far better for me on public transport). If interested ,let me know. Based in Twickenham, can meet in central London .
6. I'm based in Twickenham. Had this in spare room and it did the above very well. It looks good (one or two minor knocks). Looks like a cupboard from the office, but folds down into a single bed. Need the space now, so this has to go ASAP It is heavy, and has weights inside. Let me know ,if you're interested in this free bed
7. Would you fancy a trade for my Eden Combo? Straight swap ?
8.
If I'm honest, I don't understand the problem. The song's in C#/Db and G'n'R tune down to Eb, so if you're going to play it in D, just detune, learn it, then tune up to standard and play it exactly the same.
Yep ! That's what I did It's just that, I was under pressure from the rest of the band to have it ready in short notice. Then , some of the band were ready, and some were not....
9. Well, after all the ooing & aahing weplayed it 1st encore as originally planned. what happened ? O ne of the guitarists wanted me to come in with him, but I could only go by the song. Mr . vocals sang one too many whoas! So that put me outta sync . Mr guitar fluffed it. I didn't like the indeciseiveness of the others, and think we should have played the proclaimers 500 miles instead. I did the intro okay ,and mr drums was fine too. We still got away with it (just!) I say, if nobody is 100 % ,then don't do it. But who listens to the bassplayer ??
10. the links don't seem to be working, altho' I'm using mac
11.
I wouldn't worry about getting the fills correct note for note. I would go over all the fills then put the music away and play from memory adding your own stamp to it, thats why i love playing this tune. Enjoy!
Funny enough,that's what I'm doin'
12.
Good luck dude. If i was local i'd come and spy on you playing this song! haha.
cheers!
13. Well, I've spent a good hour on it , and am 90% there. I'll bluff it a bit(or is that Duff) on sat. once I've got the gig out the way, I'll have sorted good and proper. Thanks to all ,for your kind help
14. Silly question: is it easier to play this on a 5 string? Or am I better off using a 4 string tuning down ?
15.
This any use?
Thanks alot
16.
No... but it is buskable easily enough I'd have thought. You could use the Nashville method when transposing.. I'd be guessing D, C and G . just do frilly bass bits over those major chords which is also the verse. bridge is A, C and D... and then just the intro top the Gtr solos changes...prob an E.. can't hear them off the top of my head out of context.. You are going to have to listen to it a bit to get how Duff M would phrase or play it...but there isn't anything in it to scare you... It's Duff fer crissakes.... edited..as I would have f***** the bridge if the gtr hadn't have told me he was going to play an A.... Do it in soundcheck and it should be sorted if you know where the song is going....
We had a brief run througfh on Sunday, and yep it's d c g bridge a c d . It's mainly the intro. What's a soundcheck? Gig i s on sat and I've gotta avoid sounding like LesDawson.. Thanks for all replies btw keep ideas coming......
17. Trouble is ,they wanna play it in' D ' Has anyone got any tab?(I know..) I do have the rough feel of the song, but it's mainly the 'intro bass solo' bit. I have a 5 string, which could make it easier?? Please help
18. why not use it for 1 or 2 encore songs, and repeat what you did years ago? That way, you'll save yourself repair bills and you can still use your other bass when you want. Also, you'll look cool kicking the bass around at the end of your set
19.
partial trade for a Marcus Miller Jazz?
No thanks. I'm really only interested in the things I mentioned earlier
20. I've got a Stiletto Elite 5 Diamond series (bit of a mouthfull). in cherry/black. Awesome (and the amber colour, which I haven't got) looks amazing. Schecter have a good rep,but are still uncommon here in the yuk. Don't know why...
21. A great book that was a help for me is 'the bass guitar scale manual' by Harvey Vinson .Not very complicated It was supposed to have a poster with it,which I never got(so that's why it was cheap)
