I have a Zoom B1, which is fairly similar I believe, and the only time I've seen this kind of wierdness was when running on batteries that were getting very low - any help?
Thanx for your reply. I too thought that it may be battery related. I know I used mains, but when I checked next day, there were no batteries in there. I had a daisy chain goin' on tho' . Ac related?

What cheap basses do you desire?
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to OutToPlayJazz's topic in Bass Guitars
was thinking of the squire 'Badtz Marou' (penguin face) or Dean Zone bass in bright green. Not tried either, but for the price ,alot of thought goes into them Don't know how to post pics up -
Must say,I love this pedal. I only use it for two songs in band situation at present. Not confident of presets etc. Anyway , last night I did a gig (which went down really well ) and I used the Zoom for the first song that we do. Switched Zoom back to 'normal setting' ie 1 press on the foot pedal ,and all was well. In the second set however, the Zoom got 'stuck' and refused to budge from a setting which I never did (think it was b something). So, just before we were gonna do the next song, I had to take lead out and play straight bass for rest of the gig. Of course, I turn on Zoom today, and it's ok Good job I wasn't relying on it too much. Mr. guitar ,had trouble with his fx too oh, well

Okay, the story of this particular Bass goes like this: I purchased this from a shop in Germany , just over four years ago. They purchased it from the original owner who got it as a gift in 1978, but never had time to play it.This bass is in 9+ /10 , mint condition and was unplayed (I've played it less than a dozen times myself, and only gigged it once). So most of the time ,this bass slept in a box for about 28 years. The old accessories are included (cloth and strap). The original flatwound strings, are still on it.They still rock! The body and neck are made in the same style as an early '50s p bass. The body is solid ash, the neck is one piece maple construction. It's the loud thuddy humbucker p/up version. Comes with a Roksak padded gigbag(or a case if collecting) Reasons for selling? Just had an unexpected large bill to pay. Plus ,I'm just not touching it these days, and find the headless basses are easier to use in the cramped conditions I'm in with the 5piece band right now. Price £1600.00

Headless gig bags
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in Accessories and Misc
Crikey! Such quick responses I'd assume the Guitar bags are cheaper,so I'll be looking at those. Cheers -
I was wondering,if anyone's converted their headless basses to the above, and what's involved. I already own a 5 string, but I'm more used to headless basses overall. I assume the truss rod will need adjusting , and maybe the nut altered to accomodate a huge B string. One thing I was wondering is, will this affect the value of the bass? (not that I intend to sell) Don't really want to buy a different bass(ie hohner/Spirit). I'll probably persist with the Schecter 5 string I have(unless I see another Steiney or a kubicki). I'm rehearsing in small rooms with the band at the mo',and as we have 2 guitars and bass on a small stage, I would like to move around a little Let me know what you think Cheers

I have an original gig bag ,which came with my Steinberger full bodied bass. I also have a cool gig bag (levinson )which I got when I purchased my Washburn Status many moons ago.(Wow ) Trouble is,they've both seen better days. The annoying thing about the Levinson ,is that it's just the part where the zips are pulled that are broken off. The zips themselves still move but I'm getting fed up pulling said zips without the proper tags. The Steinberger one is,in my opinion too tight a fit . Is it true that status/steinberger basses do fit into lead guitar bags/cases? Or is it best to track down a Status gig bag/case? Also ,regarding zips: when the tag breaks off, are they really doomed and beyond repair? Please advise

My first bass was a Hondoll (copy of a precision) Weighed more than my sister in law,but not as ugly. I would classify them in the 'columbus '/'satellite' budget category. My first 'proper' bass was headless, which was quite a relief after learning on a tree trunk. You're probably better off hanging it on a wall.(Tho, be careful your house don't collapse) Hope this helps

anyone use a guitar amp for bass?
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to 0175westwood29's topic in Amps and Cabs
The sound of angry bluebottles is coming your way if you try it. Not long after, the amp will pack up . So, I say don't do it. -
Heavy Metal Britannia BBC4 21.00 Fri 5th March
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to OldGit's topic in General Discussion
Haven't looked at the last couple of pages,so pleeeze excuse me if this has already been mentioned : I used to go to the Soundhouse in Kingsbury back in the day. When myself and a friend used to request 'heavier stuff' (Budgie,Motorhead, etc) Neal kay seemed to love playing 'pomp' stuff (styx ,triumph etc.) I could be wrong about the band names, but I was only 16 then and Neal didn't seem to like the harder stuff. Anyway, when I saw him in the Britannia programme he was almost unrecognisable: gone as the softly spoken' hey man' catweazle figure. He seemed to talk really loud and full on, a bit lik Gary Newbon the football presenter . Also ,I never recognised him at all. I know we all age, lose hair(most of us) etc. but he seemed to be the total opposite from what he was.I hope you know what I'm trying to say -
Well, I was working in soho in the mid'80s onwards(who said spanking the monkey! ) I bought my first 'proper bass in '88. Of course, I was running before I could walk. I was getting the American guitar mags, and a couple of videos(Rudy Sarzo,Stu Hamm etc.) Me and a couple of friends were regulars in tin pan alley. Flea/claypool weren't around then, and as a metalhead I despised level42(of course mk is awesome) I was trying the 'new tricks' Slapping, piano style,2 handed tapping. And to be honest ,I was useless at all that . And yes,I did impersonate scaffolding falling on top of corrugated iron sheets . Nice stuff if you can do it,but if you do,use sparingly (like precription drugs)

I use SWT daily from Twickenham -Waterloo. Not too bad(but then I leave real early) The last real problems I had ,was in the heatwave last year ,when on the way home, the trains were breaking down and diverting because of problem at Feltham. All week. When it comes to weekends, that's a different matter: I expect the trains not to run, but if they do, it's a bonus. (weekend rail works etc.) Also, in the last 2 weeks on a sunday, returning from Waterloo 'there is no driver'!! Plus there are only 4 carriages, right at the top of the platform, complete with bawling babies, prams, bikes etc. SWT are too hot imho on penalising people, when it's not the customers fault. Odd thing happened on Friday eve. btw: A beggar was walikng up and down the train begging. Why wasn't he escorted off the train? This was about 9.14.pm Also: I really ,really hate that bitch's patronising voice on the train! I've been on other trainlines, and the women's voices are more relaxed Rant over
