  1. I’ll get my coat 😬 ( yes , it’s very old I know )
  2. That’s right that’s right that’s right that’s right …🙂
  3. For the sake of inflation etc I’d say £2,500-£3,000. For that kind of price today ,you can get a brand new fender with case , candy and in showroom condition. It also takes you into the Rick turner handmade / custom options for example , or Rickenbacker territory., or status graphite . Plus of course used Telecaster ,thunderbirds etc. Back in the late ‘80s / early ‘90s we used to go to the annual music shows at Wembley or Hammersmith. This was a time when I was learning the bass on a more ‘proper’ level ( The time to ditch the firewood beginner bass and slightly upgrade to something more playable ). The best basses I ever played around that time , were the full bodied steinberger and Status models . I knew my Washburn status was a copy of the status ,and that was all ! I always wanted to own one of the real status or steinberger since then , but even back then they were very expensive and out of my budget . Back around then a friend of mine who has a nice synth collection asked me how much a custom bass would cost , and I’d say around £2-3,000. There are a couple of status basses that have recently been listed here for around the figure I mentioned. Very hard to get hold of and in the scheme of things reassuringly expensive . As someone who only messes around at home , I don’t know if I can justify shelling out that kind of money when I can afford to do so ! However , it’d be like having a custom made bass without the guesswork ..
  4. I suppose the first thing to do ,is to post on the local next door website and check local crack converters etc.
  5. Well have you left your reviews on trustpilot and /or the other sites mentioned?? If not , why not ? Do not bother with them on the phone ! Get a full refund ! With that attitude guitar guitar may be gone gone ,and then obliviously wonder why .
  6. If this was listed in the spring then it’d be on its way to me . Unfortunately it isn’t 😮‍💨so I’ll just say Glwts
  7. In that case you still have time to return it . Go onto those sites and shame them ! Maybe have a look on moneysaving expert or similar for a template to write to them. Don’t be fobbed off on the phone ! Do everything in writing. Cc the head office/ ceo on an email . 🤞you get the desired resolution
  8. I don’t know how many days you have had it , but as I say that is unacceptable on so many levels ..especially the attitude! I don’t know how long you have left to return it , but take it up with your credit/ debit card …and then crucify them on the sites I have mentioned right away !
  9. That is Bs! The bass has come from a bad batch of poor quality control ! First thing I would do if it were me , is to condemn them on trustpilot , farce book , X etc .You could also point them to this topic here ! If you are still in the timeframe , then you have your consumer rights . You’ve done me a favour by mentioning Guitar Guitar , who will be avoided by me in the future . On a slight tangent ; I did post a topic about cort space 5 a couple of weeks ago ,regarding the fluctuating prices. I’ve since seen that the price for the green one has gone down to £679 .However I had a look at the picture and it seems ‘off’ . What I mean by that is it looks like these basses are being churned out by the shed load without much due care and attention imho ..similar to yours ! It’s put me off of wanting one now . If I do go for a 5 string , I’ll choose a completely different brand of headless .
  10. Measurements for the fender seats:( each seat ) 48cm tall/ 35 cm across / 31 cm depth ..approximately !
  11. It’d be interesting to hear your version of mustang sally . This tuning is going far beyond beard twitching territory. If I was in a gigging band with a 5 string ( bead) ,I’d be a little put out as more often than not Low B is supposedly enough to deal with lower range of vocals etc . Your vocalist must sound like a dying dog . Having said that, I do like the Warwick vampyre tuning for some reason but it would seem to have very ltd purpose , unless I was in a gigging death metal band etc . Speaking of Warwick vampyre it doesn’t seem to be available anywhere anymore . Maybe lack of demand or price ? The other thing I was wondering is , how many 4 string basses are available down tuned as standard ?
  12. King diamond - no presents for Christmas
  13. @Dad3353your explanation has done the job ! Top man ! 🙂
  14. Thanks for that ! It does seem pointless with my post having pictures with no text . It looks so straightforward to delete photos with the x in place in the corner. 😮‍💨 Maybe the Moderators could highlight the fact that images cannot be deleted once uploaded 🤔
  15. On off topic , I retitled my post as Problem Solved Please Ignore ! Can somebody tell me how to delete the post entirely ?? It seems an unnecessary pita to do so. 😮‍💨 Thank you in advance
  16. This is true . Trying to find a fretless one is a lot harder to track down . 🙂
  17. My first ‘proper ‘ bass amp with cabinet was an OHM . Bought cheap as chips at the time from a friend . Not only was the head amp very big , heavy and bulky . The cabinet could fit a whole road crew inside . My cat used to sleep in it ! Great sound …very loud ! Buzzing windows! That big click sound whenever it was turned on .Mine had a flanger on it , with a foot switch . Times were hard then ,and it was the stone age . Bass players are blessed these days…
  18. I have a couple of things to add .. Imho the status look way better than the Ibanez . That blue just looks uninviting. Looking at the necks of those and the cort space basses, it looks to me that the neck on my Washburn status is better quality 🤔. Are the necks of the Ibanez really that different ?? I have seen people having issues with the Ibanez basses with marks on the neck - plus having issues changing strings causing scratch marks on the neck .Quality control has been mentioned about them . just looking at that last pic of the Ibanez fretless . The tuning knobs look much better placed than the cort space basses ,and Hillman which look awful imho .
  19. Good points ! My Washburn status is a bit deceptive though . Whenever anyone sees that they say what a lovely bass , followed by “ that’s heavy !”🙂
  20. This seems to be the best ,and I’m tempted . Of course I don’t know if I’d have a chance due to the shipping costs etc and whether the seller would ship to uk .
  21. I have a vester custom shop fretless copy of a Warwick thumb . Great bass ,apart from being a little on the heavy side . Great neck and action. A couple of basschatters saw it and were mightily impressed . Never heard any bad comments on bc about vesters .
  22. Thanks for that ! 🙂 I did have a 5 string many moons ago , and hardly used it in rehearsals or a band situation. Of course I as told by all and sundry “ you don’t need a 5 string “😮‍💨 In one of the bands I was in , the 2 guitarists were putting hair bands on my bass for 2 or 3 songs ,giving a capo effect . I assume that if I had a 5 string or was confident enough to go BEAD everything would have been more immediate. On one occasion it was funny when one of the guitarists in one of the other bands heard me playing an open B on my 5 string “ what note is that ?” 😆 All this was in rock cover bands. The good thing I guess by lounging around at home , is that it’s either BEAD or EADG basses whatever mood I’m in 🙂
  23. I’ve seen many of those basses , and had a hohner cricket bat . It’s just that it’s hard to find a fretless version these days .
