It seems so much is done on MPC and groove boxes these days , plus synths and software . There will always be a retro angle on things . Turntables back in fashion etc. Maybe upright , EUB and quirky basses like old Kubicki and Steinbergers will always hold their value . It just takes something in a film to make certain instruments fashionable . So many basses and guitars made in Indonesia these days . Doubt if they'd hold the value . Much more lighter basses and guitars out there, and the beginner basses are really good quality these days compared to the past . Synths were losing popularity in the late '80s / early '90s but those 'vintage ' synths cost a premium now . Get a Moog Liberation and keep it ! For gigs you can get a cheap Begringher version . Maybe Keytars will be the next collectible thing 😬

Why not stick with GarageBand ? As for interface , Behringher Uphoria Umc 22 is cheap and cheerful .only 2 inputs and no midi , but is straightforward to use .

Mmm.. I think of nerd bass as something more complicated , Steve Bailey or Michael Manring territory. Mainly 6 strings , fretless , lots of wood like Zon or Warwick . Micheal manring is a genius , but his playing in front of live audiences is extroadinary. He seems to keep adjusting the tuning every few seconds . You'd expect somebody to shout out "leave it alone ". Having said that , I wish I had the chance to see him .

I was thinking for quite some time of tracking down a Squier Badtz Maru bass. Two main reasons ; 1) to see how I get on with a short scale for a change . 2) It's odd, collectable ( for some meaning I'd get my money back if I did sell ) and would be a bass just to pickup and noodle . However , the more I looked at it I see it as really a kiddies beginners bass( which it is ) with awful tuning pegs and bridge .For the extortionate prices they go for now , I took a different route .. I got a Squier Mini Bass instead , and for the £110 I paid it is brilliant ! I've just got to think of a sticker / stickers to put on the scratch plate . It also saved me having to change the bridge and tuning pegs if I did get the Batz Maru . That's the kind of bass where mods can only benefit the bass.

Seems like the wheels of confusion are still spinning . If Ozzy is as sick as constantly stated , one wonders how/ why he is able to have his own set before the headliners. Will he be sitting on his throne , or be a hologram!.? Possibly both? Will the other bands just play solely sabbath songs ? It'll probably be a really good gig bar one or two bands , if you're into outdoor gigs . I'll probably watch the pay per view , if the price is not outrageous ..

Could be wrong , but with social media I imagine it'd be a lot harder to avoid these sort of problems . Two instances of band name issue spring to mind from the '90s ; 1) 2 bands called Wrathchild . Eventually became Wrathchild uk / Wrathchild America. 2) my friends band at the time got contacted by someone , who told them another more established band had the same name . Problem solved by my friend's band called " the ----s " People moan more these days it seems , so maybe an entirely different name is the best way to go . ( until someone else has it

This seems to be unravelling from the Black Sabbath performance , to another ozzfestt to what looks like "a tribute to "Show.(If it still goes ahead ) No doubt the DVD / record/ cd / download releases will make it sound and possibly look like a very energetic show. More money for Sharon . The poor punters killing themselves to give . ( to charidee:)

You've done well to be in the same covrr band for so long imho . . I think being in gigging bands is like a job in itself . Trying to book rehearsals with band members going on holiday/ looking after the kids etc can be a pain . Then there may be times when band members are in more than one band . Booking gigs and following 5hem up can be messy. I think the best feeling of all is playing in front of people . A great rehearsal is great too . I don't miss it at all , but it took about a month to realise that . When the fun stops stop 🙂 wishing you all the best anyway

I saw the you tube clip yesterday . Only imho , but I think it sounds much better on guitar than bass .

Yeah, I was at The Hyde Park gig too. I was reluctant as I had enough of outdoor gigs . Pleasantly surprised . Geezer was phenomenal . Imho apart from Sabbath , Faith No More were the best band of the day . Soundgarden bored me , and Chris Cornell was in black days then nbeknown to us . He just seemed disinterested. As for Ozzy , 4th Row at Blizzard of Ozz gig at Hammy and it was a great gig . I couldn't go to the following tour, due to receiving a letter and refund due to him biting that bat . Saw him at donington and hammy o on the ultimate gin tour. He was going through his wig wearing stage and looked like Sharon from Eastenders. Tbh, I think the tour at Hyde park should really have been the end , but Sharon and money = cash 🐄
