  1. Good luck to all getting tkts. The press will be saying how everyone was mad for it / tkts sold out in less than 20 mins/ internet crashes etc . Plus the cost . Things were easier in 1994 ..
  2. That pretty much sums it up for me too. An "edgy" band for celebrities .
  3. Plus of course , it's "parent " these days . The nuclear family is " so last century ". Only imho of course πŸ™‚
  4. Previously owned by JR Hartley ?πŸ€”
  5. These days Ken Barlow can dance better than me . Well done for persisting . Hope it all goes well , and it pays off .
  6. It's a very interesting topic . I look on this from a background of mainly heavy metal / head banging gigs over the years.. For example , a friend and I were at a Diamond Head gig at the Borderline back n the mid '90s. My friend says " there's Glenn Hughes " . Yes the super talented bassist/ vocalist/ druggie . He is smaller than us , and all I saw was a fairly unkempt guy with a large bald patch on the top of his head . We saw him play a few gigs headlining and supporting other bands and him and his band rocked. Looked the ultimate aging rock star from a distance ...but we know what he looks like in real life . Then of course there's Ozzy Ozbourne . I've seen pics of him recently without the makeup and tbh he looks more like Donald trump. There is a minorish guitar god , Michael Angelo Batio who still seems to have a full head of jet black hair . He's getting on a bit , but the hair dye seems to suit him . You can tell he's getting on facially though . Then there's Alice Cooper . Not sure what he looks like without the makeup,, but he looks fine imho . A bit like Colleen Nolan . The trouble with Botox ( allegedly ) , is that if you start doing it, you have to keep it up. The trouble I find with us ordinary folk , is that the bags below the eyes resembling more baggage than Heathrow Airport is the worst about ageing facially . Good luck to you if you can pull it off .
  7. Also remember how many times E-A-D-G appear on the fretboard on each string .
  8. Groovy ! I like that the jack socket is on the front , rather than on the bottom . Ideal for sitting down and recording etc are the strings hard to come by , or standard headless size ?
  9. Not sure if a Gibson thunderbird bass case would be any good . πŸ€”
  10. The original Boss power supply is a chunky 14v ? . Model BRC -230 . Made in Japan . In : AC 230v -50Hz 18 VA Out : AC14v -800mA There's probably a more compact Chinese version about these days .
  11. Meatoaf - 2 out of three ain't bad . Guns and roses- one in a million / I used to love her/ patience Limp bizkit- Rollin'/ Faith/ Tom waits - step right up Henry Rollins- liar presidents of the USA - lump nine inch nails - head like a hole whitesnake- crying in the rain / still of the night marillion - assassin / mkt sq heroes
  12. I think he's great . He does like his slap . He did a post on you tube about the ultimate metal bass players . I mentioned to him that he left out Billy Sheehan . Fail ! πŸ™‚
  13. Mixed feeling about them .. Before I had anything by them , I tagged along with a friend and saw an amazing gig by them at the marquee . Positive mental octopus tour . I then purchased the Mother's milk album a couple of days later . I returned it . Not my thing . Saw them at the Kilburn national / forum with Henry Rollins supporting . They were ok , not as good as before . Henry Rollins didn't do much for me . Things are a bit blurry now , as I've lost interest in them now . I have the Blood sugar and One Hot Minute albums . Both really good , but I prefer one hot minute . I have the californication album , but only played it a couple of times . .meh! I saw them play Wembley arena where they were only wearing socks . Rubbish gig imho. Saw bits of them on jools Holland show , and they looked back on form . ( They may never have been off form , just my observation). The Anthony keidis book is good . The person I have most respect for in that band is Chad Smith .
  14. Yes ! I looked at various clips on YouTube , and tbh and imho my old Boss Me8- B sounds better .
  15. If used in the wrong hands ( mine ) , it would cause random sonic distress and cruelty to animals in my area . . So for that reason , I'm out πŸ˜•
  16. Lovely colour ! Too far to Cheltenham πŸ‡πŸŽ Glwts
  17. The best thump sound and feel for me , was playing the humbucker pick by the neck telecaster bass through an Aguilar amp head , through an angular cab with no tweeter . It helped that the drummer loved the sound too , after remarking that the Aguilar setup looked like something from a '50s coffee shop ..
  18. Mixed feelings about motley crue .. I saw them with some new friends at the time on the theatre of pain tour , with cheap trick supporting. The night Nikki sixx od'd They were into crue , and while only having the theatre of pain album at the time I was.more into thrash . A gigg's a gig so I went . They put on a really good show . I saw them a couple of times supporting others at donington , and imho they were awful at best . imho, when they signed the deal to finish, they should have kept to their word . They now have that 'osbourne's'' 'celebrity vibe , which to me is embarrassing . Then again , I'm as old as them and many younger fans still have a chance to see them , which means a lot to them . As for anyone replacing Steve Tyler πŸ€”I don't think anybody can tbh as most people look at him and Joe Perry - the toxic twins (;something like that ) .. Then again who would have thought axl would front ac/dc ?
  19. Funny you mention Tom Waits . Where I used to work many moons ago, both of my bosses played his entire catalogue . Right up to 1999 when I moved on . initially , I thought it was all tedious and painful . Bearing in mind listening at 7.30 am and various toms of the days to his jmaterial was hard work if you come from a heavy metal or ambient background like myself . over time , I got into it a bit and I think it made me more mature and tolerant . I think "step right up " is brilliant πŸ˜ΌπŸ‘ Listening to van morrison , ravi shankar, Edith Piaf , Bruce Springsteen and Dire straits was worse tbf . ( apologies to fans of the above . Just imho 😬)
  20. Mmm...Anthrax bring the noise , Led Zep dazed and confused ..and Kashmir . Chilli peppers under the fridge , faith no more I'm easy . Soundharden Black hole sun . Motorhead orgasmatron , eat the rich . Iron Maiden can I play with madness, bring your daughter to the slaughter , women in uniform . Guns and roses sweet child of mine , knocking on heavens door . Judas Priest Johnny b Goode , united Black sabbath planet caravan , changes. Sacred reich the rap track on the American waty album. Metallica : wow ! So many to choose from .. whiskey in the jar , unforgiven , of wolf and men , so many more . Rolling Stones angie, you can't always get what you want . Aerosmith , I don't wanna miss a thing . Faith no more , falling to pieces . Some of these are covers ,but don't like originals either . probably more to follow at some point ..πŸ™‚
  21. It's hard to explain my feelings about Aerosmith . I had a few of their earlier albums , but never kept them . I have however got the Permanent Vacation and Pump albums , which I purchased at the time . I think they're great . Very '...80s which I like . I saw them on the Pump tour at Hammy Odeon which I was lucky to see at the time , as they were used to playing arenas and apparently the stage set was stripped down. It was a great gig ! I find their catalogue very patchy after that , and imho they're mostly going to be known for I don't wanna miss a thing and walk this way . Dream on may be rightly remembered also . With Aerosmith , they always seem slick and professional on tv , videos etc . They were a mess for many periods also , as with a lot of rock bands . There have been many stories over Steve Tyler's erratic behaviour over the last few years , and tbh I thought that he was too old for that stuff . I think he was a great , slick frontman . Did Aerosmith take some of their influences from the faces / mott the hoople etc ? They treated Rush very badly among other support bands I'd imagine at the time . Fair play for Geddy reminding Joe Perry when he was supporting them . I agree with others , and think it's best call it a day now .
  22. I had one of these many moons ago . Great for live use , and built like a tank . Glwts
