  1. Fair play to you ! I’d expect the punters would be complaining if the carpet removal is not rectified , as it sounds that was one of the main issues . Normally playing in a band , I usually found that we on stage could always hear each other in a quite mellow kind of way and the sound levels were heard by the audience . We always did soundchecks . We had the vocalist also walk around assessing the volume at the same time time. one thing on a tangent ; on a couple of soundchecks at different venues , e were approached by the landlord telling us we were very loud . We explained that when the punters arrived it would deaden the sound somewhat, also making sure we kept an eye on things . We were asked back, and all was good . Having said all that , it does sound that whoever setup the stage in that way is now going to have to have a rethink . You’ve set the ball rolling there, whether you continue or not. The rest of the band may have been heroes just for one more day , before they realised their hearing is now shot ! 😬

  4. From what I was told , it seems like a 50/50 chance of having to pay it. Tbh, I don’t understand fully the duties/ taxes etc . It’s different buying from the USA on eBay etc as the total is generally worked out . Let us know if you proceed ..
  5. Thanks for all the input. I don’t play live , or in bands these days. Just spend time recording rubbish on soundcloud these days😺 It was the Roland Bass Guitar which caught my eye …again ! I’ll just carry on with this approach, and look forward to getting the tiny Roland synth midweek.
  6. Yeah , too much hassle for what it’s worth . I’ll leave it 😼👍 Thanks for confirming . It can get very expensive , and tbh my time would be spent better trying to learn the stuff I already have etc
  7. …do they work ?? I stumbled upon various basses over the last few days. This can be dangerous, as we know. I looked at the Roland G77B with its trimmings . I decided against it for now, due to technology advancing and the chance of things going wrong and difficult to get fixed. I do have a few synths at home . I just ordered a Roland Boutique JP-X8 . A condensed version of the JX-08 which has all the sounds on the Roland Bass setup.Allegedly. This got me wondering if a Sonuus G2M would work if I used this to plug my bass into the Roland Boutique Synth! I probably won’t bother with it , but if someone tells me it works then I’ll have to get one ..
  8. The chap next Hendrix ..shaggy( scooby doo)? As for ‘Freddie ‘ he looks more like a waiter imho 🙂
  9. Great to see you live up to your name .😺Jealous about the status s2 classic . I may track one down one day .. There is a cort space bass for sale on here . If it’s still here after the weekend , I may take the plunge .🤔
  10. I think it’s true that nobody bettered sabbath . Skipping school and going through my siblings record collection , I first stumbled upon Vol4 , then master of reality . Then the 1st album. I ended up buying all ozzy era sabbath asap back in the day . I’d say the first side of sabotage is the last great thing they did ..with ozzy! As for Dio fantastic voice , but I couldn’t gel with that era . I was at the heaven and hell gig at hammy o , and myself and friend were bored out of our skulls . Dio solo was much better . Ozzy solo , I got bored around the ultimate sun era. I’m convinced he wore wig on that tour, as he apparently shaved his head around that time . He looked very much like Sharon in east Enders at the time . I liked no more tears , and I think Perry mason is the best song he did for years . It’s a shame that he did the mtv series , as it made him a laughing stock imho. I went to The Hyde park gig 10 years ago, and I thought that would be a fitting way to bow out . I had to eat my words , when I saw the villa park gig on you tube ( most of it anyway ) . He was struggling with not being able to stand up , but sabbath played well. The bands that turned up made the day also . Ozzy ..and sabbath true legends . One other thing ; although I was lucky to be front row on blizzard of ozz tour at hammy o , I was puzzzled to receive a letter from hammy o regarding the diary of a madman tour at the time . He was due to return for uk tour , and was offered a refund which I took. I cannot remember if it was because of the bat , or Randy Rhodes .
  11. Groovy ! How easy is it to change the strings ?
  12. Thanks @HeadlessBassist😸 I saw the lobster review ( very positive ), and a few you tube clips . Plus a review from a uk bass magazine . All reviews are positive from what I’ve seen . I have ( and have had) headless basses . The Washburn status is a powerful beast . The jack Daniels bass feels like a hohner which I used to have , and the custom fretless I purchased from my bass is similar to a kubicki/ bootlegger bass. I couldn’t get on with the feel of the full bodied Steinberger xm2 I had , but the sound was awesome ! That’s now gone . Regarding sound , not sure what I want . This is because I just use a bass I decide to pick-up , and plug into mixer to record rubbish on SoundCloud . Sometimes with effects , sometimes just straight bass . Regarding which bootlegger model ..it’d be the long scale one . The idea I have is to ( maybe) get a comfy 5 string to finish off my collection. I prefer headless , due to space and less faffing around ..
  13. …anyone tried one ?? I’m considering getting a 5 string headless . If I was a gigging bassist I’d go for something like a status , or something in a higher price bracket . But, I’m not . I considered a Steinberger spirit , but the reviews are mixed . Thought about Ibanez , but not too blown away tbh. Considered a cort artisan space 5 , and the necks on them and Ibanez seem to be more or less the same ..Made In Indonesia. A trend imho . I contacted Chuck Wilson , the main man of Bootlegger guitars . Nice chap, who responded swiftly to my email. The colour I wanted ( wine red ) is on back order ,but will be 25% more . Regarding price to purchase one including shipping works out around £865 approx . That is without customs costs etc Chuck did say that people from the uk purchased without incurring customs charges, but obviously it isn’t guaranteed I’ll escape customs charges . Normally a 4 stringer when I’m bothered these days . I was wondering maybe if I’m better off just getting my Warwick set up as B-E-A-D instead 🤔 some say G strings are mainly for strippers anyway . ..
  14. That colour! Something that would appeal more to Barbie ,and my little pony fans . Not very metal imho .
  15. These are great ! If I didn’t recently purchase the Akai tomcat, I’d have had this . Glwts !
  16. Just heard also, a huge fan for many years . Saw him a few times over the years , The best being 4th row on the Blizzard of ozz tour . i have removed the Sharon comments as rightly told by @BassApprentice as now really isn’t the time .😬
  17. It’s a status . Fantastic bass ! Times are hard ! I did have a 5 string once . Now I want another ..Glwts
  18. I was gonna ask if this was good for metal 🤦😺.Nice ..Glwts !
  19. Yes he was getting frustrated and worked up about kids starving to death ,and swearing on tv at 7pm. Yeah, what an insensitive scruffy oaf , no class at all .
  20. About 30 years ago, I had a few lessons with a really nice bass tutor . He showed me his Wal ,and let me have a go on it .At the time , I wasn’t too familiar and thought they were a custom jobbie like mansons who were always mentioned in the uk mags at the time . This led to me purchasing a Vester custom bass . ( Copy of Warwick Thumb) Other than the weight which we took for granted back then , the bass was superb . Surprisingly I did very few Les Dawson impersonations, and was wondering what all the fuss was about . I even took it to a few rehearsals . I’ve still got it . I purchased a nice headless made by mybass 8 or 9 years ago . I remember seeing in the uk mags that metal players don’t / shouldn’t play fretless 😮‍💨. Oh how times have changed . I don’t play much these days . I do wish I did purchase a Wal for obvious reasons 🙂
  21. This thing was hyped to death …and then some . The scruffy unwashed Geldoff telling family audiences , “ Just send your f**in money! “ ( or words to that effect) during the middle of the day was not very nice to hear before the waters head . Classy person he is not . From what I remember, the gig made Bono , the edge and the other 2 global superstars 🤢🤮. To this day , I don’t know who I dislike most ..Bono or St.Bob . Probably a draw . We kept hearing about Phil Collins playing 2 countries in one day etc . The amount of Colombian marching powder he must have had that day , was probably more than the rest of the celebs combined. I watched bits here and there . I thought the quo did a cracking job . Freddie stole the show imho , as has been said by many. I remember watching Neil Young / Tom Petty / Bob Dylan being in the USA one . They looked pretty stoned ,and said “ do farm aid instead “ I think . They were relaxed about it and I liked that . I remember the gig being shown constantly on the pubs in Portugal where I was on holiday around that time . “ money for nothing “ was played to death , and I hated it for a very long time . I quite like it now 😬 It seems not much has changed and tbh , the BBC could have sent the Groundforce. team out there with Tommy Walsh , Charlie Dimmock and a few others to make a difference . 🤔 not sure if those programmes were on then .. plus the amount of crisps Gary Linekar could’ve donated
