1. I played in 'sponge fingers' once.
2. What style of music do you play? Original or covers?
3.
My Ibanez is very lightweight at just over 7lbs, and the neck is very thin and easy to move about. I've got a doctors appointment next Saturday, but I guess I should start thinking about moving to short scale. I'm gonna be selling off most of my gear so will have some cash from that. What do you lot think of these two? There aren't any music shops around here that stock short scales so I'd have to purchase "blind" http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars_detail.asp?stock=05071310103518 http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_corvette_short_scale_bk_aktive.htm
Mmm, they both look great. I'm sure there were mustangs being for sale on here. Have you thought about putting a wanted ad here first?
4. I used to love looking at laserdisc players in the 70s in the shops. Cost a fortune.window shopping only for me at the time. Never knew anyone that actually had one. I think a film was often split into two discs. They looked really cool. Have a nostalgic bump
5. Lots of good advice here already . What can I add? Well , for your back - Pilates . For both of your issues, then a physio . Basswise, short scale or headless. Having said that, I've been playing with my vester fretless(copy of warwick) and it feels very light and great. One other thing; I hope you have got the bass. set so that you have it the same height standing as well as sitting. (Checkout billy Sheehan ), and not like Peter hook. Hope it helps
6. Anything is better than onions or garlic ( IMHO of course Maybe if you put pot pourri in there and a gel air freshner , it may help .
7.
I just bought an otherwise lovelyTC BC210 bass cab from another BC'er. I say 'otherwise' because he admits the cab was kept in a room with two smokers. And boy does it honk. Speaking as an ex-30 a day man, with an ex-smoker missus, you'd think we'd be tolerant but the stink just pervaded the house. So out it went to the barn, where it spent several days in the sun and wind. Still honked. So i washed the cab (not ther speakers, capiche) with mild soap. Then I treated it with Frebreeze. Then I washed it with detergent. Then treated it with AutoGlym Autofresh. Then I washed it in water and car body detergent. Know what? It still honked. Just ever so slightly less. Next time you see an advert claiming an item to be from a 'pet and smoke free home' don't laugh. it really is an issue, unless you're smoker.
All this cleaning, could be the start of a soap opera.
8.
yea, got some of mine up too, never had a issue with them hanging they spend a long time in the shop like that. i think they have coffee and biscuits and a good natter when im out. good enough for mark, good enough for me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-7pQJN9v58
I quite enjoyed watching that. Not normally my thing, but I watched it till the end .
9. There's me thinking this was about a whammy bar ..
10.
Blasphemous post alert!
;)
11.
I think somebody posted a photo of a long haired, tattooed noise maker with a run of the mill P bass over your picture of the worlds best looking bass...
12. I'm trying to workout whether its just 2 pickguards cutout , rather than a paint job. If so, it should be inexpensive to DIY . Forgot about the trimmings and west ham badge .
13. The first 'worn' looking bass I saw live , was Burke shelleys yellowish colour precision back in 1980. I would imagine it must have been made in the '60s or something. When I was a young , naive kid I would've thought it odd that bands on the telly would. Use secondhand instruments. On the other side of the coin, you had the guitarist (or bass player) who preferred copies rather than the original.
14. At the end of the day, it's just a precision . If it were me, I'd take bass down to s I m s and get them to do artwork on it.
15. Nice bass . Have a bump
16. Sounds like a good thread here. I have reduced my collection from 9.. to ..8. I have 3 for sale (2of which are cheap imho), but I will probably keep them. The bass I sold recently (schecter 5 string ) was real eye candy .Cherry black with gold hardware. The newish bass( which kinda answers your question) is my Dean Taxi Bass, which is bright yellow. I often get envious of guitarists who can 'frame' their guitars onto a wall.Basses are much heavier. My washburn status and Steinberger xm2 would look great this way.
17. Hard 'n'heavy? Yeah I got some of those.
18. I know I want a headless bass but, if somebody bought my bass for sale , I would have this.have a green finger bump
19. Haven't seen the vids on this thread yet. When I was gigging, I always did rock poses/acting the loon . This was basically to make sure I got rid of any gig nerves. Every gig I played, people always commented on how much they enjoyed watching me . They said I was enjoying it. (I'm far from arrogant, just saying). The thing is, there were gigs that I wern't enjoying as much, but. My enthusiasm made it look like I was. Horses for courses, but it seems people enjoy seeing a lively live band
20. Many questions via pm, but not what I'm looking for
