  1. I fully endorse the positive comments that others have written about Claude. I just bought a nice bass from him and had the good fortune to meet up at his place in Brussels. The bass was exactly as described, his communication excellent and a very knowledgeable fellow!! Buy with confidence from a man who has knows his stuff. Mille merci, Claude!!
  2. For what it's worth, I use masking tape stuck on to the area that is to be drilled. I find it easier to mark (bradawl) and then drill a pilot hole. Good luck.
  3. Welcome, Christophe! I'm also near Leuven!
  4. Totally agree. Bernie's basses are right up there in terms of build quality and aesthetics etc, and...........seem to be competitively priced. Please don't work on that GAS attack button. Help me, for I am weak.
  5. Amazing bass.........just wish that I had £2500 spare.
  6. Great shout for the hardcase, thanks! Do you find that the I-Spot CS-12 has enough umph to power the HX Stomp? I seem to struggle with a Cioks DC5 Link under my nano board powering the Stomp.
  7. Based on a recent purchase of a bass from Rob, I can confirm that he keeps all his gear in pristine condition!
  8. This is where my main motivation comes from. Maybe not for others, but then I ask "why do it?".
  9. Probably the one he used on Jackson Browne's "Running on Empty" tour.....was around that time, me thinks. He was using a double necked bass as well around then, according to pics in the vinyl sleeve.
  10. Me too, but I always feared the dreaded colour-bleed into the body binding. Not sure why blue seemed to be particularly affected or whether they eventually got it sorted.
  11. This^^^^^ Normally works for me.
  12. Great story!! Goed gedaan!!
  13. .......and if he is really enjoying it? I was in this type of situation a few years back. Lovely guy - he was actually relieved when option d was put to him. He had felt under enormous pressure to perform at another level and knew it was beyond him at that point in time. He was afraid to let anybody down by bailing, so sucked up the pressure, which only made things worse for him. We've stayed in touch as friends since then.
  14. Anybody know if Zero-Mod thumb rests are available on this side of the pond? I've seen them on flea-bay, but would like to try one on a Rick 4003 without doubling my outlay on import charges etc. Basically I'm not sure if it is exactly what I want, so it's a look, see and try type of thing. Grateful any feedback from those who have them and have used them. Thanks.
  15. Well I guess that I'm a bit the same. One always takes a bit of a risk (as buyer or seller), but BC is still far better than some others imo. Maybe just a run of bad luck Stewie?
  16. Does Alembic make them or are they contracted out to a core-business string manufacturer? Never tried them; just curious.
  17. Glad you got it sorted and that you got great service and advice.
  18. Welkom Emiel!!
  19. Personally, I've not experienced any adverse reactions, but there could be some residual chemicals on the surface or leaching out during prolonged use with body heat/sweat etc. Have you tried giving the buds a thorough wipe with alcohol-based wipes.......like those used to clean glasses, camera lenses etc?
  20. Wow!!! Fantastic attention to detail @rubis. I missed this thread somehow, but have just spent time to read it. The skills, patience and dedication are there for all to see. Thank you for sharing. Well done!!
  21. I think it may also be that you have limited expectations of such an instrument, so when it delivers you can't help but be impressed. This becomes a somewhat virtuous circle. I have this with a bitsa bass as well. Thing was put together on a shoestring and plays quite nicely. Strange how the psyche works!
  22. Sorry, just saw that @walshy picked this up yesterday.
  23. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Jazz-bass-special/233471083775?hash=item365bf604ff:g:MJsAAOSww5ZdxsjS The asking price is 9 grand!!! One line description. What is up with these guys? It doesn't even have the fancy gold thumb rest. Am I crazy or is 900 a closer figure and maybe indicative of a typo?
