  1. Welcome Spaniel. @ambient has nailed it with his response IMO. Best of luck whatever path you choose.
  2. Yep........i started 2019 being really strict with myself and limiting where I looked so that I wouldn't fall victim to GAS. Just like Paul, Stewie and many others.......I failed miserably. Ended up with 8 additional basses, one combo, a HX Stomp and I'm happier than ever. I reasoned that you only live once!!
  3. That is indeed a very nice Warwick. I have a 2003 limited edition FNA Jazzman that I regret to say I don't play that much these days. Enjoy your new bass!!
  4. Yeah.......all the best, Sam. Here's hoping you'll be able to get back to playing again.
  5. A promo shot in a disused warehouse. Go figure!!!
  6. I think this says it all. Well said, Stub.
  7. Did they make fretless versions in all of the above models listed? Coated fingerboards?
  8. Another shout for Ben. Nice guy, down to earth and not pretentious. He has a changing stock, some from the estates of late jazz musicians.......eg Trefor Williams.
  9. Kim Wilde - Rockin Around The Christmas Tree. Don't much like it, but the punters' seem go for it
  10. I switch between basses (fretted and fretless) and double bass. I used to worry that because each was different that I had to concentrate on those differences. A revelation for me was to let the muscle memory develop and , if your technique is basically OK, you will not notice and eventually it will appear seamless. Enjoy practicing and changing....it's a whole new world.
  11. I love it that a request of this sort comes on this forum! I watched Ivor the Engine as a kid and loved it, especially the accent of the narrator.
  12. I feel your pain!! It'll just make what you've ordered better when they do finally arrive.
  13. Nice one.....and an excursion to add to the anticipation.
  14. Here is my first relic bass. Lake Placid Blue in the style of a '63 P with tort pick guard. It weighs in at 7.9 Ibs, so easy on the shoulder. Aged Gotoh Res-o-lites also ensure a good balance. It sounds super - extremely resonant. Currently strung with Fender 9050 flatwounds. Mark did a great job in my opinion and order time was around 17 weeks. Super happy.
  15. I joined my main giging band through a formal try-out and audition process. We are band mates and colleagues. Don't see them socially outside of after-gig wind-down. So, not really friends.......but, then again, I'm "Billy no mates"!
  16. Yes.......Grace & Danger has some classic fretless playing on it. One of my favourite albums from way back.
  17. It's a friendly community, and a knowledgeable one at that.
  18. I switched from an old heavy 4x10 to a Vanderkley neo 2x12 simply based on weight. The neo is more than enough for the typical type of gigs I play....so I guess the trend will continue toward lighter, more easily handled cabs without losing out on sound quality.
  19. I heard that Ronnie once commented that he didn't rate himself as a bass player......."a bit of a technical numpty".....or words to that effect. I think he under-rated himself big time. I still love his licks on Stay With Me, for example.
