Finding high-end bassists amongst the groceries

Here you go -
The latest Fender Rumble combos get good feedback.

This ^^^^^^^^ Over the years, I've not had a bad MIJ/CIJ Fender. On the other hand, I've had one average and a few knock-out MIA Fenders. I've no experience with MIM Fenders.

Finding high-end bassists amongst the groceries

He's been active and at the top of his game from the 1960's until present day. A session god as well as touring in support of top flight global acts (eg. Phil Collins, Jackson Browne etc). Apparently his passions include hot rod cars. -
Nice story! I always tell my missus that it is a bass that is being returned after having had some fret work done. Rave about how good the guy was and how fast he turned it around.

I finally managed to meet Jamie in person this weekend. I've bought a couple of basses from him. The most recent a lovely Moon JJ4. Buy with confidence .....he has quality gear, maintains it well and describes it exactly what he is selling/trading. Top Basschatter.......Top Marks!!

Where did we all start this journey from?
BlueMoon replied to NancyJohnson's topic in General Discussion
This image is from around 1973 and was of a rehearsal in Maldon, Essex. School band who thought we'd all be "rock stars"....some hope!! Bass player (with fashionable hair and shirt collars) is me and I still have the 1964 Burns Jazz you can just about see on the right of the pic. It came from a music shop in Chelmsford when I traded up from my first bass ....a Columbus Jazz copy. The Burns cost me 12 GBP if I recall correctly. Hey ho...fond memories. -

I have dealt with this guy in Spain - he's a luthier and bass builder. He sells direct and through e-bay. Links below for ramps, although I have not personally bought one. I have bought some Hipshot stuff from him and everything worked out OK. He makes them with radius in wood of your choice (ebony in your case) and polycarbonate. Just measure the gap between the bridge and neck pups carefully. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ebony-ramp-for-Jazz-Bass-with-radius-72mm-or-73mm-spacing-83mm-in-ash-or-wenge/261846956314?hash=item3cf74b791a:g:KWsAAOSwymxVKQtv http://egilegorbasses.com/egilegorbassesshop/en/home/65-blackwood-ramp-for-jazz-bass.html

Fantastic fretless basses. I have a Buzz4 that is wonderful to play. Does that mean everything "Pedulla" comes to a professional end?

Fondly adopted in France, since Peter Kingsbery lived there and could hold his own talking in interviews in French. I listened to one and it seems he's a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist as well.

Yes.....that one's a beauty!

Yep....great guy to deal with. He also works closely with Danny Stewart in Japan and between them can source some really exciting MIJ basses (old and new).

Lifetime member here. I do get tired of the constant e-mails though, which often just repeat the same stuff up to a certain cut-off deadline. But I did see that he now gives you an option to decline further e-mails on a certain topic. Like the SBL strap "offer", for example. If I recall that was where you needed to pay import tax from the U.S. No thanks.

OK ..... here is a pair of Sandberg Ken Taylor 5's

Impressed by Bacchus jazz basses. Any thoughts/experience?
BlueMoon replied to Mike's topic in Bass Guitars
I have some experience with both Moon and Atelier Z Jazz Basses, although not yet with Bacchus. You are correct with their (Japanese) quality control and attention to detail. Superb workmanship and "not in your face" looks. I love them. -
Yes....in the 60's she was behind many a great groove and is also a talented guitar player. One of my favourites is I'm A Believer (Monkees)....great line IMO. I guess it's no surprise that Macca rates her as one his great inspirations.

Yes... Great stuff. I've just read through the whole posting and would definitely be up to try making a pair of the Mk II's. Thanks so much for all the ground-work you guys have done!

Do I really need the power of the XLS1502 ? Or will an XLS1002 suffice? It will always be in bridge mode In one of my rigs I run a Crown XLS1502 bridged through a Vanderkley 212. There is plenty of power available for most small/mid-sized venues. I use an Avalon U5 as pre or EBS Microbass II to drive if I need more eq control. For the price difference I would always going for more power since the difference is not massive between the XLS1002 and 1502. Great amps for what they are....and super light weight.
