I use Z-syn as my main synth pedal. ITs limited to what it can do, but it does it brilliantly in my experience. I generally keep the synth side quite low in the mix. i'd about a 80/20 mix just enough to hear the attack of the note (assuming your going for that staccato type synth). For Kids In Americafor the intro bit I'd play up an octave with the synth on and a chorus afterwards, I quite like the Clone chorus on it. Then when the proper bass kicks in id probably just go back to normal and switch the synth off.

is it just me or are he frets chocking a bit in that youtube demo?

I had the white version as my first decent bass... After a few years I added a trem, took the frets off, and sanded the body down to natural wood. What a monstrosity haha. Ive been looking for another one though for memories sake. Great bass!

If it's anything like the vintage jazz I had, it'll be a very playable bass indeed. Just watch out for weight though, my hb was the heaviest bass I've ever owned! And a big neck.

I had one briefly. Did the job nicely. I only got rid as it was a bit Rawk for my taste, but that's not the pedals fault, that was my error for getting the wrong pedal.

I'm thinking about going back to a 6 string. I had an Ibanez one for a while as my main bass but got rid as it it didn't really fit the image of the band I was in at the time. So what is worth checking out? I'm not a brand snob at all. I'd prefer a thin and small neck. Dont mind it having a small string width. And I don't want a pointy body. But apart from that I'm easy... what have you all got?

Bear in mind too, when you listen to the classic tunes, the bass sound is produced exactly for the track. You'll not be able to sound like the Ox then Flea within a song or two. Aslong as you have the feel, then you will! Sound good.

Not sure why oasis get such a hard time. People love them and will go nuts for a tune. I'm doing a dep next week playing a little mix tune ffs! Does it bother me? No. Because if the punters have fun , then I'll enjoy myself!

I've literally spent this afternoon learning 30 odd tunes for a wedding dep next weekend. On top of that alot of the the other ones I already knew are in odd keys. Fun! 😶 the first dance is a bloody masterpiece on bass too.

I have my zoom ms60b set as a preamp and I try to di before I got whatever amp I'm playing through. I literally never touch the settings on it. And then I just set the amp flat. I'm ready to play within 30 seconds of being on stage.

There's a peach of a solo on an n sync tune from a few years ago... 'larger than life' I'm sure its called.

Anyone had a go at the 5 string?

Done a few medium size weddings with this as an onstage monitor. But the wee thing fairly belts out! Still not got an ext cab but that's not a priority. Sound wise it's lovely and the eq is powerful. Overall I'm delighted!

Ed sheeran tune will go down well plus it'll be bloody easy. That castle one goes down sooo well. Locked out of heaven by Bruno mars can be rocked up pretty nicely.. but can also be really funky. Great sing along.

Tonally there's a difference on you tube. For almost all applications all 3 of those times would be fine. However it would be interesting to get his thoughts on how they feel to play. Thats the biscuit I'd like to see him munch.
