  1. It's one of the main jobs of the drummer, keeping tempo! If he's not doing it right, then he's not doing his job very well! Tell him that. See how that goes down. 😅
  2. Deep down I quite enjoy playing mustang Sally too.
  3. Why does moon dance get the negativy? 😅 I quite enjoy that
  4. If you're OK with the rubbish headstock decor, then consider a bass collection jazz. The one with the babicz bridge. One of the comfiest jazzes I've ever played and was really punchy! You'll have plenty of change too.
  5. I can't offer much but I'd definitely watch/listen!
  6. So am I the only one not really understanding why 11 songs with weeks of notice is an issue? Are they 10 minute jazz pieces? A dream theater cover band? If we're talking standard rock covers then 11 songs should be very doable! Especially the if you want the gig!
  7. 11 covers? Give us a list. Surely can't be that hard? If you want the gig, spend the hour or two learning the tunes. You'll need to know them when you join!
  8. I did at the time, this was years ago!
  9. I've lost close to 200 quid on here from a deal that didn't come through. Lost the money. Haven't learned my lesson though cos I'm never out the classifieds! 😅
  10. You looking at any trades at all?
  11. What's people's thoughts on cases for 2 bass guitars? How practical are they? Are they big clumsy things that are only really good for storage and short journeys back and forth to the car? Or are they perfectly fine? Never had one, and none of my bass playing mates use one, so not really got a chance to test them out! I know not all cases are created equal, but I'd like to hear about any recommendations!
  12. Everyone should own of these at some point just to get an idea of how good a jazz can play. I gigged one for a few years. Amazing neck!
  13. I let the sansamp clone on my b3n do all my tone sculpting. I also have a roll off everything below 50hz, I feel it just makes a better defined bass tone. I also ride the tone knob for fatter bits. But after that, I just accep whatevers coming out FOH and just go with it. I don't spend ten minutes fine tuning before every set, I don't see the point.
  14. My mates ibanez bass. The cheap branded one, sound gear I think? Plays terribly no matter how set up, and sounds awful, so much so it sounds broke!
  15. I agree with blue to a certain extent however I know changing between fretless/fretted makes sense. I don't know if its just age or experience, but for me, less gear the better. Less 'knobs' to twiddle and less things to go wrong. Changing basses mid set (outwith for fretted/fretless or different tunings) doesn't make sense to me.
  16. Let them do it, enjoy your holiday. I bet you're not as key to the sound as you think you are.. No offence! If you're pals with them, let them use your stuff.. That's what pals do!
  17. My new project has everyone going through the pa, and I've bee. Kind of volunteered to run the sound... I thought I had a decent understanding but trying to 'gauge' the sound throughout the night is almost impossible from behind the pa. I'm sure it gets easier, but I do miss the days of turning up and playing! 😅
  18. I had one and it did it too. Made it almost completely useless so GAK (I think) took it back off me and I replaced it with a mark bass head.
  19. Personally, I think there will always be a need for some sort of physical medium. So, I think cd will be about for good. I still buy cds. I enjoy going into charity shops or fayres and going through them! I get a wee buzz when I find an album I like!
  20. a slight twist on the classic look.... some right bad photoshopping!
  21. Just purchased my first this week from a fellow basschatter, and I'm nothing short of stunned how good this thing is. I notice there isn't already a fan thread as of yet but I think there's some love, so lets start one! This is probably a 325 (!?) but I'm happy to be corrected! lets see yours!
  22. Played in a band that done sxsw, played on radio 1, headlined a tent at t in the park, nearly won Scottish album of the year, and played umpteen sold out headline shows. So much so, I was occasionally recognised on the street by actual real life fans (rather than the usual friends of a band member type fan). Done lots of cool things but it never really turned into a chance of doing it full time. That for me would've been the sign of success.
  23. I've got quite deep into the whole depping thing over the past 3 years. I dep regularly for one band and got another 4 that I play from time to time. This actually adds up to a lot of gigs without the need for weekly rehearsals (which I love). The only thing expected of me is to know the material and be solid - nothing more!. The rest will come together as the rest of the band will be tight and know their stuff. Its actually really simple!
  24. Got a fender US special jazz, and I had to replace the saddles as the screws were seized up. I bought some on the cheap and I have a feeling they're moving slightly when I play, affecting the playability. So, I'm thinking I'd be as well just to get a new bridge. There seems to be about a million of them, ranging from a tenner to Alot, so just wondering what I should go for! Think Id prefer a high mass bridge in chrome, but apart from that, not got any preferences, Any suggestions? What benefit is there going for a really expensive one, over say the fender himass iv Bridge, at about 40 quid?
