  1. I had the C4 and that was great. Although I've heard nothing but good things about the newer MXR Bass synth. pricey though.
  2. I didn't find any usable synth sounds from my B3n. I loved mine too, but for synths, not much use. To be fair, my HX stomp is pretty useless for synths too.
  3. Sounds like you more than half way there anyway so aye, maybe indivudal pedals will suit your needs and budjet.
  4. problem with building a "cheap" pedal board is that you still need to get a power supply, cables, and preferrably something to mount them on and a case. Alll the boring bits of a pedal board quickly add up. That's why, IME, a multifx is far more suitable for people who either only need a simple setup or who dont require a specific set of sounds that certain standalone pedals offer.

There is definatley 10+ that I can't think of right now which I 'll come back and add when i can!
  6. Sell the pedals you've got and get a 2nd hand HX stomp. They seem to be about £300 just now. Ok, slightly more money, but you'd be sorted for life for a bass set up, guitar set up, and a general effects unit. Or a tonex one brand new. that would give the same functionality as to what your potential pedal board could do.
  7. I cant help you with a bass but how long you in Tenerife for?
  8. I've mainly used P/Js as my main bass for the past 15 years. Always felt the PJ combo gives you quite a neutral sound. Some say boring sounding. But If i was to start again, think id still stick with PJs!
  9. No probs. Weirdly when i did this, the range between settings sounded very much smaller than playing live. I pretty much have mine set flat the whole time and if I max out any of the EQ knobs it either distorts, or the sound just disappears. Too much of a range unless you have a soundperson adjusting FOH. That's not unique to this bass though, i think pretty much any active bass has that issue. Genuinely though, this thing plays and sounds great. For a brand new sub 1k bass, dont think you can do better.
  10. Dunno if this tells you much.. doesnt tell me much, but i tried.
  11. looks like a good wee project now the nights are fair drawing in.
  12. I can easily go a month without touching a bass, but other times ill play dailly, even if it's just 5 minutes. Can't see a time where i stop completely, even if i stop gigging. You'll be back to it within a few months i suspect!
  13. My 2 pack arrived... and it's a 2 pack! Keep us posted. I'd be interested in this!
  14. This is the answer. Or if you're put in a corner, just say you enjoyed your night. If he's a proper pal though, you can rip the band to shreds.
  15. It's an art form in itself if it can be tailored to the crowd and event. The worse on stage patter though is in-band jokes that noone else gets.
  16. Get an ACG. Mine was easily the best built instrument I've ever owned. They come up 2nd hand for under a k easily.
  17. Do this. Or even potentially, get you existing cab closer to being in line with your ears. If you need more volume for FOH then maybe not, but if your amp is prety much just for on stage, then you probably have enough volume already, its just not directed at you adequately. It's advice I got decades ago and it still stands up today! I've no scientific evidence to back this up, but I think thats why 8x10s tend to sound brilliant... there's speakers in pretty much ear height so you're hearing the amp better. 2 2x10s stacked vertically, or a single vertical 2x10 raised to ear heigh does the same job, kind of.
  18. I didn't have this exact thing but i had an amp head that had this built into it... probably about 20 years ago. It was a bit shit, even for back then. Your version is an obvious rip off of the line 6 pod from around the same time! not sure id spend the money getting a power supply for it, but id also probably keep a hold of it incase I find one going free!
  19. Depends on your situation. You could literally go DI straight into the FOH. Turn up to a gig with a bass and lead, get a clip on tuner for a tenner and your pretty much sorted. If you want a bit of tone sculpting plus a tuner, then you're spoilt for choice. I'm an HX stomp man, but I also happily use a 10 year old Zoom MS60b for basic needs. Pretty much anything these days will do a decent job. Don't discount something without an XLR out, that seems to be a deal breaker for some when it's really not.
  20. Really depends on what you need. An old Zoom b3 would be incredibly simple as its basically lined up as individual pedals which you can mix and match. Once you learn how the menus work, its pretty easy and they sound decent enough. Bit old and limited as to whats available these days though. If you're not after major flexibility, one of those "flyrig" type systems would probably be as easy as you can get... not digital menus etc. I've never tried one but always fancied having one as a wee back up system.
  21. Some very interesting ideas in his rig! the switchable talk back mic makes alot of sense!
  22. I like living in the central belt of Scotland, and I feel there's everything I need here. But, when I'm in the classifieds or when an offer like this crops up, I realise the UK is a big place!
  23. nope but the Wee DI looks like something I'd use
  24. Afraid not but thanks for the offer, very good of you.
