I'd also suggest the guy was on retainer for this exact situation. Seen Vince on Instagram multiple videos and absolutely asore his playing... however was always a bit dubious over how much editing was done. I'm very happy that he can do it live too.

I play in a movie themed covers band and the one song I'd love to play but it just doesn't work is the karate kid theme, you're the best around. Massive theme tune which fits the profile, it just doesn't work .

Hopefully I can hijack/resurrect this thread and ask, what's a good option out there under £250? I'd prefer a 12" and wil only be used for monitoring, but I fancy one. I've tried the headrush 12" which would be ideal but if something out there for a good wedge cheaper can do the same job id be keen to hear.

I've got the l12 and it's wonderful. Us it doubles up as a proper mixer and an in ear setup for live use.

I might be daft, but I can't imagine this having enough of an impact on the sound that id swap an interface for.

If you're fine with a mono backing track then you can literally use your phone. Backing tracks fully panned left, click track fully right on a single wav file. Send your drummer the click track to his ears and right to foh, via a splitter cable. No need for fancy gear or even a laptop

If we're talking in ear setup then 100%. Yamaha pb734 into an hx stomp. Then into my ears through some kz iems. Ampwise I have an old school TE which is great for the occasional gig that requires a big amp. In an ideal world I'd own a wee 1x10 or 1x12 combo too, just for those gigs that iems aren't available but I'd need a monitor... but really can't justify that given that type of gig doesn't crop up often for me! But my main setup, can't see that changing anytime!

My early learning was a billion sheehan vhs so I taught myself a rigid 3 finger technique. This has very much evolved but anything constant semi quaver is still 3 fingers. Broken rhythm stuff is a mix. When I play 2 finger though its often 1 and 3.. finger 2 is least used

If you need it to be the size of an M81, and you're keen on it. then just get one. I highly doubt there will be too many other options which fit your criteria.

I'd be happy with that TE setup for volume and quality. If its not loud ebough then chances are the band are too loud, or youre playing a venue that youll be needing pa support anyway-your amp would them mainly be for monitoring. Te stuff is heavy and lumping it about can become tedious pretty quickly I find. I love my te though and because I rarely play gigs where I need it, I don't mind rolling it out on the occasions that I need it. All really depends on your usage!

I've bought plenty things over the years that I end up not liking but I generally buy 2nd hand so I never really lose out financially cos I just resell. No biggie!

Has to be the Yamaha 605 for me. Although it's not a bass that looks right getting played with a pick!

Never owned a dedicated HPF pedal but always HP'd on my various multifx over the years. It just makes sense. Can't say for certain that it makes a big difference cos I've never properly A/B'd it but I also can't say I've ever really had a problem with boomy stages for the past decade or so and I'm always always happy with the sound I make... they all might be related to the HPF

I own the ZS10 (non pro) and the AS10. I find the AS10's ever so slightly more smiley face EQ...... but it isnt massive. both great.

Pretty much from day 1 of gigging I knew there was no real prospect of going pro whether that was in a band or a working musician. I've been in many originals bands which I'd say only 1 did anything of worth but even that I knew was never going to be a career.

I'm not pro but work with pros and semi pros. Think most has been covered above but for emphasis I'll just repeat a few things in different words. Reading: clearly is advantageous but really depends on the circles you frequent. Plenty gigs out there that Reading isn't a requirement. Prep: always make sure your gear is fine, and you have replacement bits. If you're given a set to learn, make sure you learn it. Faffing about: don't do it. Everyone wins if you just turn up, plug in, line check and everything sounds like a bass. Nobody wants to hear you spend 20 minutes dialling in a tone. Over playing: don't do it. There's definitely a time and place for it. But that's a small percent. Other band members might look like they're enjoying it, but over playing gets tedious very quickly. I'm sure there's more but Scotland have scored so going to concentrate on the football now.

Me neither. Mines last ages so the cost vs usage is not a particularly big worry of mine. Plus mine just degenerates slowly.. it doesn't juat die mid gig... unless there's circuits out there that do!

Received them this afternoon. Very comfortable, and seem really well put together. Soundwise, they are extremely loud compared to my old Sennheiser HD206's. They have a bit of "smiley face" EQ, which i quite like for general listening but not so good for recording, or bass playing IME. One niggle is that the left ear squeaks when moved and is quite loud but hopefully that disappears once they're worked in! Overall, quite happy for less than £40.
