1. rubbish photo but current rig is: MarkBass Tube 500 Eden 110 Markbass 151 combo (used as 15" cab mainly but, occasionally, use Eden World Tour pre-amp and MB combo amp instead of MB Tube) 600 watts of pure, light goodness!
2. i was gutted when i found out he was in bolton - and i'm gigging that night! only member of Free i've not seen play live.
3.
Seems like you're in the minority - no interest at all so far.
There'll be plenty of interest - I'd love it! but, like a lot of others, just cant afford it - beautiful bass. a Wal is the only thing I have true GAS for now. best of luck with the sale - it will go!
4. I have 2 x Thumbs (one 5 string and one de-fretted four) and 2 x Stingrays (one five and one four) - usually swap between the two fivers depending on the band I work with - although the Thumb NT5 is THE one I go to usually - I like my Ray 5 though. totally different sounds from each. I also have a Fender Jazz 5 deluxe and a 64 P bass - but the build quality on the Ray is far superior to the Jazz. I find I play differently on different basses too - esp the move from Warwick to Ray scale length.
5. that's still great news and the extra verified info and pix should help with the sale - wish my neck stamp was as easy to read. very best of luck with the sale.
6.
Saw them at the Barbican last night, stirring stuff indeed. Among my favourite rhythm sections can be found Guy Evans and Hugh Banton's feet.
they were awesome in Manchester - Guy Evans is one of my favourite drummers and, at one point, I was totally mesmerised watching Hugh Banton play a complex bass line with left hand and bass pedals (needing both feet!) and playing a different right hand part too - astounding dexterity! there's a recording of the Barbican gig here: http://www.guitars101.com/forums/f90/van-der-graaf-generator-barbican-hall-london-30-june-2013-a-160427.html as for missing the saxes....for a trio the sound is huge plus Hugh B covers the sax parts on keys - most of them were heavily 'treated' anyway so they didnt sound like a sax! stunning live though, such intense power.
7. I'd be suspicious as there is no continuity in the images - obviously not taken by the seller.

9. Thumb NT - no contest! I have two a 1990 5 string and a 1988 defretted 4 string. amazing sound, feel and comfortable to play. bit heavy to carry but on a good, wide strap, not noticable when playing - no neck dive on mine either. seek out pre - 1997 models though. 11. wow! this is a revelation - how did I miss this thread in 2011? absolutely stunning band in all it's formats. looking forward greatly to seeing them again in Manchester on June 28th 2013.
12. gorgeous, I have a defretted '88 NT4 - the EMGs are much more powerful than MECs.
13. you need to check pot and neck dates - Fender serial project dates this as 1965: Guitar Info Your guitar was made at the Fullerton Plant (Fender - Pre CBS Era), USA in the Year(s): 1965 http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx my 1964 P has a 1963 stamped neck and an L20***** serial number. lovely condition though, mine was used and abused and hasd to be restored.
14. Hi, if you'd consider splitting them, I'd take three of the used ones. cheers, Mike
15. Playing with the very wonderful Dean Casement Trio at the Bier Huis at 6pm today if any of you are in that area - always a great gig. then rushing up to Ye Olde Sparrowhawk in Fence to do another Trio gig just after 9pm. Loud, improvisational blues, soul, rock. Hendrix, John Mayer, requests and a few surprises (to us too!) www.facebook.com/pages/The-Dean-Casement-Trio/172610764528?ref=ts
16. Had some nice offers but none of them really what I want (or feel I could sell on quickly/easily)so.. Final Bump and if it doesn't go at this price this week I'm going to hang on to it. so, last chance guys!!
17. amazing! makes me regret having just bought my SR5 as I may have had enough for this............... absolutely fab looking bass and at that price........hmmm if I sold my Jazz and Ray 4 string........... i dont expect you'll have long to wait for this to go.
18. a price not going any lower for all you watchers type bump! although I am open to offers on stated price.
19. Would you be interested in a trade for an american standard p bass from 2009? Hi Shobaleader One, nice looking bass but My P-bass needs already catered for thanks.
20.
I've a really sexy sleek fender jazz aerodyne In great condition and plays itself I've had it for a while but I need a 5 string ??
Hi, thanks for that but tried one before and not really my thing. cheers, mike
21. bumpity bump for a great sounding bass - only selling as have car repair to pay for now and neck is not as comfortable (to me) compared to my other fivers. will look at PXs plus some cash my way - Squier VM 4/5 string jazz for example. hit me!!
22.
I think Jelly could equally be asking the OP. In which case it is flame/quilt maple.
oops!! that's what you get for reading and replying on a phone!! lovely finish on the Spector and have a mistaken identity bump on me!
23.
Lovely bass, what is the top made out of?
Its an alder core with a top and back of ash. The colour is crimsonburst & I believe one of the reason its darker at the edges is to hide the join.
24. very nice - I'm the opposite to you - love active sounds (a Thumb man really!) and I have an active Jazz fiver that I have for sale that you may like... Newcastle may be a bit too far to check it out though.. it's here anyway: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/198541-fender-jazz-dlx-five-string-bass-usa-made-soundclips-added/
