2. I have an '88 Thumb NT4 - and confirm that the neck is super-slim. fantastic basses. incidentally this one - E1344-88 - was built in May 1988 and was the 1,344th bass built in that year. good price too.......
3. Here's my effort for this month's competition: https://soundcloud.com/collm2002/funkingreen enjoy!
4. absolutely stunning - I'd buy it but I'm about £3000 short...................!!
5. Ha ha...glad I have my '89 Ray!! fabulous sound and beautiful figured necks. buy with confidence.....
6. Cheers, thanks for your comment.
7. I'd be really interested in pix and hearing this - Im close to you and looking for a Jazz 'plus'.
8. Hi guys, here's a link to my new album - fairly bass orientated but not exclusively. have a listen and shoot me some feedback. cheers, Mike http://mikecollinge.bandcamp.com/
9.
Voila
that'a the sound of a Wal!! Glorious - just wish I has the ££££sss. Beautiful bass bump!
10. rubbish photo but current rig is: MarkBass Tube 500 Eden 110 Markbass 151 combo (used as 15" cab mainly but, occasionally, use Eden World Tour pre-amp and MB combo amp instead of MB Tube) 600 watts of pure, light goodness!
11. i was gutted when i found out he was in bolton - and i'm gigging that night! only member of Free i've not seen play live.
12. that is just awesome!!
13.
Seems like you're in the minority - no interest at all so far.
There'll be plenty of interest - I'd love it! but, like a lot of others, just cant afford it - beautiful bass. a Wal is the only thing I have true GAS for now. best of luck with the sale - it will go!
14. I have 2 x Thumbs (one 5 string and one de-fretted four) and 2 x Stingrays (one five and one four) - usually swap between the two fivers depending on the band I work with - although the Thumb NT5 is THE one I go to usually - I like my Ray 5 though. totally different sounds from each. I also have a Fender Jazz 5 deluxe and a 64 P bass - but the build quality on the Ray is far superior to the Jazz. I find I play differently on different basses too - esp the move from Warwick to Ray scale length.
15. that's still great news and the extra verified info and pix should help with the sale - wish my neck stamp was as easy to read. very best of luck with the sale.
16.
Saw them at the Barbican last night, stirring stuff indeed. Among my favourite rhythm sections can be found Guy Evans and Hugh Banton's feet.
they were awesome in Manchester - Guy Evans is one of my favourite drummers and, at one point, I was totally mesmerised watching Hugh Banton play a complex bass line with left hand and bass pedals (needing both feet!) and playing a different right hand part too - astounding dexterity! there's a recording of the Barbican gig here: http://www.guitars101.com/forums/f90/van-der-graaf-generator-barbican-hall-london-30-june-2013-a-160427.html as for missing the saxes....for a trio the sound is huge plus Hugh B covers the sax parts on keys - most of them were heavily 'treated' anyway so they didnt sound like a sax! stunning live though, such intense power.
17. I'd be suspicious as there is no continuity in the images - obviously not taken by the seller.
18. Thumb NT - no contest! I have two a 1990 5 string and a 1988 defretted 4 string. amazing sound, feel and comfortable to play. bit heavy to carry but on a good, wide strap, not noticable when playing - no neck dive on mine either. seek out pre - 1997 models though. 19. yeah, tis an Indie A**** R***** clone.
20. wow! this is a revelation - how did I miss this thread in 2011? absolutely stunning band in all it's formats. looking forward greatly to seeing them again in Manchester on June 28th 2013.
21. gorgeous, I have a defretted '88 NT4 - the EMGs are much more powerful than MECs.
22. you need to check pot and neck dates - Fender serial project dates this as 1965: Guitar Info Your guitar was made at the Fullerton Plant (Fender - Pre CBS Era), USA in the Year(s): 1965 http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx my 1964 P has a 1963 stamped neck and an L20***** serial number. lovely condition though, mine was used and abused and hasd to be restored.
