1. Session 1x12 cabinet old Session cabinet - may have been a combo once upon a time. I replaced the driver with a 250 watt Eminence bass driver and it made a great, lightweight cab. front ported too. covering a bit tatty. I opened the cab up and these are the details on the speaker. Eminence Beta 12A 121794B-EP 8 ohm 250 watt I'm not sure how old the cab is - 1980s for sure - I got it around 15 years ago and replaced the 100watt speaker with the Eminence. It's loud enough for most pub type gigs or bigger gigs as a monitor (when the PA does all the work.) Soundwise, it's pretty good - only time I found it lacking was with a 5 string bass - when 15" cab is really needed. I used it along with a 15" cab as my near field monitor. 8. "they were a small exclusive bass builder making it all by hand..." late 80's/early 90's NT Warwicks are a totally different beast than the new models. mass produced, inferior woods etc. the early ones are stunning in terms of playability, sound, retail values etc. new ones are totally overpriced in comparison. my 1990 NT5 will have to prised from my dead hands. I'll play it til I can no longer physically play it. (though I do enjoy playing the Ray and Jazz Vdlx - just not as much)
9. Just re-entered the Stingray world - having had a new one in 1996/97 and, apart from the obvious great design and light weight, hated the sound. it was just too clean and clinical - esp next to my Thumb - so, it didnt last long but, I just got an 3 band EQ 1989 Ray and it's awesome in every way. So powerful and it feels heavier, weight-wise, than the '97 model. I guess certain era Rays will give the player the sound they are looking for - I have definitely found mine. Need a 5 string from the same time now!!!
