1. Hi 3 basses are now sold: the 4 fretted and fretless and the 5 string I still have the double neck but I plan on keeping that for now - can't completely go Wal-less
2. Paul - yes I bought it on eBay a few years back. As I suspected, not much interest in the double neck so that will likely be the one I keep
3. A quick update: the fretless has been sold, the others are still available
4. Despite a lot of requests for more info/pictures, all 4 of these basses are still available.
5.
Could you tell what the controls are on the doubleneck...?
There is an overall volume and two tone controls all of which have the standard Wal pull switches for the tone shaping and pick attack. The fourth control allows you to blend the top and bottom necks: T of all top (fretted) neck, B for all bottom (fret less) neck or somewhere in between. This can be useful when using the MIDI from the top neck to trigger pads or sequences and then playing your lines on the fret less. Tricky to do but quite impressive if you can pull it off!
6.
My god, i love the 5 strings. A trade with a Benavente Vortex Custom 5 strings ? I think That your response is " no ", but i must try !!! Good sale.
A few people have asked about trades: sorry I'm not interested in a trade as I'm reducing the number of basses I have as I'm no longer playing much due to a shoulder injury. Thanks for the interest.
7.
I assume the seller is referring to the walbassesnaturally forum http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/walbassesnaturally/messages/13193?xm=1&o=1&l=1
Yes that was what I was referring to
8. Since I've completely failed to work out how to add attachments to personal message replies, for all those people who wanted more pcitures, here they are. I've included shots of the cases, front, back, headstock, serial plate, controls etc as appropriate. You can see any minor bumps and wear from these.
9.
Could you tell me where the dots are situated on the side of the fretless neck of the doubleneck ? (between or on the lines ?) A picture would be helpfull.. Thanks..
The fretless neck is lined so the dots are between the fret lines. The 4 string fretless is unlined, so the dots are "on the fret"
10.
how heavy is the double neck?
It is quite heavy - play for a while and you know it. It made from American Walnut so my mates refer to it as the "coffee table"
11. Yes, the fretted 4 string is Mk 1 not a Mk 2 - sorry for the confusion. I'm based in Somerset and I'm happy for people to come and try the basses first. Since I need to put a figure on the fretless and the double neck, I'm going to ask £1300 for the fretless and at least £4000 for the double neck Adam
12. I should have also said that I'm know to the Wal community in the UK & US so be assured this isn't a scam!
13. I am the lucky owner of four Wal's but, in recent years, I'm playing less and less ... and after a recent motorcycle accident which has left my left shoulder in a mess, I'm simply not playing at all. It seems a shame and waste of their talents for my basses to just sit there unused so the time has come to sell on one or more of them. So, in no particular order: - W2043 4 String Fretless. This is has a single pick up at the bridge and is passive, not active. There is slight wear on the fretboard (use of round wound strings) and a chip in the lacquer on the top/back of the body (see pic). Original brown Wal case (no keys for the locks however). I've owned this bass for over 20 years. I have no idea what this is worth as nothing comparable has come up for sale. - W2225 Mach II 4 String. Wenge body. Non Wal hard case. £2500 - W3742 Mach II 5 String, Birds Eye Maple, Original blue Wal case (one lock missing. no keys either). £3000 - W2783 Double Neck, 4 String MIDI bass and 4 string fretless. American Walnut body & gold hardware. I have all the cables, manuals and the rack mounted MIDI processor. Original fitted flight case. This was made for Steve Payne (his name is on the headstock) and I bought it from him a few years back. As I understand it, this is one of only two ever made, the other belongs to Jonas Hellborg - Make me an offer! To be completely open, all these basses have been used live, except the double neck which I've only used in the studio. There are some slight marks on the head stocks etc but nothing serious, The damage to the fretless is more serious but it was like that when I got it, it could be repaired pretty easily I think, I've just never done it I guess not all of these are "for sale", but I can't decide which I would keep - so I'll see what the interest is. I also have a red Yamaha TRB 6 string going for £500
14. I've been a signed up member for a while, thought it was about time I posted an intro ... I've been playing for 25 years, in a bunch of mostly covers bands playing anything from Iron Maiden to ABBA and The Nolans (!). Moved to the south west a little over a year ago so currently without a gig (hint hint!). I guess my strongest influence has to be Geddy Lee, been a huge Rush fans since before I started playing but I'd also add John Myung, Steve Harris, Cliff Burton, Colin Edwin, Chris Wolstenholme, Stuart Zender, ... I could go on As for gear, I've been lucky enough to keep every bass I've ever owned, except for the very first one (but that was a plank so no loss!) so I have a small collection of 4, 5 & 6 string basses (Musicman, Yamaha and even Wal). They all go via a GK RB700 head into a couple of SWR cabs. Adam
