    really nice. i was told - when hunting for mine circa 1992 - best ones were pre 1996/97. I wouldn't trade my 1991 NT 5 Thumb for anything - my 1988 defretted NT4 has EMGs and it's hotter than the 5 string but the 5 is still THE one. I'd love another NT5 string from 1990/91/92. dont do it!!!

    unfashionable though they may be (at the moment) and having owned a Ray, a 1959 P-bass and still own a 1964 P-bass, my 1990 NT 5 string Thumb blows them all away - I can get any tone I want from it and it'll never leave me whilst I draw breath - prob same goes for my 1988 NT 4 string - dont bother with new ones (anything after 2003) go for a 80s/90s Thumb. nothing compares!! PS: I dont do metal, Nu or anyway!!

    great review and pix!! happy to see he has gone back to the Thumb (dont we all!!). I was playing at the Blues Fest every day except Friday and so couldnt get up to see him. absolute legend - hope I can still manage it when I'm his age!
