9.
Lovely bass, what is the top made out of?
Its an alder core with a top and back of ash. The colour is crimsonburst & I believe one of the reason its darker at the edges is to hide the join.

Awesome supercharged Jazz with the John Suhr designed pickups and pre amp. Love the sound, though fingerboard is a bit wide for me. photos here: http://www.mcollinge...azz%20DLXV.html soundclips here: https://soundcloud.c...-mid-blend-both https://soundcloud.c...llm2002/neck-pu https://soundcloud.c...m2002/bridge-pu https://soundcloud.c...02/both-plus-eq https://soundcloud.c...oth-plus-treble 1996 50th Anniversary DLX model finished in crimson burst - with mother of pearl type scratchplate. reasonably light weight with a smaller than usual jazz body and comfortable to play. the bass is well played and has a few scars - mainly four chips on the bottom edge of the body. small ding on the back of the neck and the top horn straplock has been glued in - without cleaning off the residue properly. small surface crack next to B string tuner - previous owner had hipshot tuners on that, when original tuners replaced, may have caused it. perfectly stable though. N61****** (N6 = 1996) Your guitar was made at the Corona Plant (Fender), USA in the Year(s): 1996 - 1997 DLX jazzes 1995-98 had electronics and pups designed by John Suhr who worked for Fender R&D at that time, one reason to consider this particular run of Deluxe Fender Basses to be one of the companies best. bass is strung through the body and bridge. straplocks fitted. the first USA made ‘Active’ Jazz Bass by Fender. It’s a 9volt, three-band EQ with stacked knobs.. New Design Jazz Bass V Humbucking Pickups the fact that this was Fender’s first production ‘Active’ bass and the array of features may make it a future collectable. The body is alder augmented with gorgeous ash veneer on both the top and the back - really light and slightly smaller than a standard Jazz body. weighs approximately 9ibs 2ozs or 4.2kg on my bathroom scales. Pau Ferro fingerboard, tighter and denser than rosewood but avoids the extra bite of maple. The neck itself is maple with graphite reinforcement. The Five String Deluxe is stock with Gotoh tuners. All USA Fenders made during 1996 bore a Fender 50th anniversary emblem on the back of the headstock. The bass comes withor without a moulded flight case- see options. any questions, get in touch. photos here: http://www.mcollinge...azz%20DLXV.html located in south east Lancashire. can deliver within 50 miles for fuel costs or meet within same distance - or can collect and try out. have the moulded case or a heavy duty case and cardboard box so could, theoretically, post. would have to have cleared payment first and speak to buyer about shipping options and costs.
 21. THE BASS (well, one of two apparently!) that started my long love affair with Thumbs! If I had the ££s spare I'd buy it just for ogling purposes!!! no doubt it will sound as awesome as my 88 and 90 Thumbs do.
 22. bought 2 low B strings from Protium. great guy to deal with and arrived quickly.
 23. I have one of these and they are seriously good recorders!! the mikes are amazing but can also record another stereo pair with the XLR mike inputs ( i record the front of house sound with the mikes plus a di feed from the desk and then blend the two pairs in Logic audio) - plus it has a 4 track mode to record demos with a guitar amp simulator!!! amazing piece of kit - about £230 new at the moment.
 24. that is really nice and Brian(who lives a few miles down the road and rebuilt my '64 P bass) does excellent work.
