  1. So many of you lot seem such very lovely, patient, understanding people.... I’m not where band matters go though. For me it’s a tell him straight you’ve no interest in playing someone else’s lines and if that ain’t in agreement with his view, walk. This said, I am a self-diagnosed bolshy git! 🤣 Hope it works out for you, regardless of which approach you decide to take.
  2. Common fault then possibly On those as mine had the exact same issue. GuitarGuitar fixes it under warranty for nowt just after purchase. Been perfect since.
  3. IMO you’re not getting a full comparison just playing seated. The different in scale feels more pronounced to me when standing and comfort/fatigue of your left arm may differ as a result. if you’re moving from guitar then a shorty is an ideal mid-point in scale, and ultimately it was the market Fender had in mind when they first came out. The suggestion above re: Squiers is a decent one, particularly the Vistas. if you do prefer the feel of a Mustang in further consideration, have a look at the MIM Mustangs. P/J pickup configuration on them so you can get some sort of approximation of the P and J bass tone, or a blend of both. if you’re savvy these can be had secondhand for the £350-£400 mark. Anyway, as primarily a P and Mustang player now, either are good safe bets for me. But I am kinda biased as, in their own way, both kinda feel like ‘home’.
  4. I play both a P and a Mustang. First thing I’d ask is whether you’ve played both on a strap when testing? Standing up and feeling the difference in the scale length and the difference the extra ‘reach’ that playing a P will bring may direct you to your answer. in terms of price, there’s a beauty of a Vintera Mustang on here, unless it’s sold in the last few days, for less than £500.
  5. No sweat and thanks right back! It doesn’t do clean, that’s for sure. Rages like hell though. Great bit of kit!
  6. There’ll be little if any price difference, so I’d say go for a 3u if ventilation is something you’re concerned about. Then get a vented plate to fit the ‘extra’ rack space. That’s the route I’ve gone down at least...
  7. Not specifically bass related, but maybe gravy would make it super heavy on the bottom end?! 🤣 Crazy cats.
  8. Of the pedals you mention my experience is limited to the TC Mojomojo and the Joyo American Sound. The Mojomojo is ace. Gives a decent amount of grit when cranked but it’s a pretty dark sounding pedal So be aware of that. The really great thing with these is you can pick them up used for pretty much what you’ll sell them for again, which is practically nowt. Think I paid about £25 for mine. I got some decent enough ‘hair’ out of the American Sound. Not bad at all for the price in that respect but mine was noisy as hell. I may well have just been unfortunate but I guess it’s always the risk with the budget mass produced stuff. Hope that’s off some use.
  9. Mine arrived Thursday. Gave it a run at rehearsal last night. Very impressed. Simple to use and while the EQ is very straight forward it gives some decent tonal shaping. I also couldn’t get a bad tone out of it. Just good, solid bass. The included bag is rubbish, cheap feeling/looking and offers no protection but could kind of serve a function, the tuner is a bit crap too (though OKish as a backup) and yes, the fan is a little on the loud side, but it won’t cause any issues for what I’ll use the amp for. All in all on first impressions I’m very happy indeed for the price paid.
  10. Mike Watt dropped pics of his Wattplower Mkii the other day too...
  11. Looked into this a while back and, unless my wine-sodden mind is mistaken (quite possible!), to qualify for payment don’t the venues the artist plays have to be part of the PRS’s gigs and small venues scheme? At the time it seemed to me a stab in the dark (as part of a ‘toilet venue’ level band) as to whether it was worth paying the fee just for performance royalties In those kind of venues as, at least then, I don’t think there was a searchable database of participating venues, at least not prior to sign up.
  12. So, worth picking up seems to be the general consensus. In need of a lightweight head for my ‘octave up’ rig so likely to pull the trigger unless there are any good reasons why not from anyone?
  13. You’ll not have the “what if” questions if you don’t give it a go. You likely will if you don’t give it a whirl. Just my opinion obvs but where opportunity knocks it’s worth opening the door, even if you decide thereafter it’s not for you.
  14. Whore No More. In fact that gig in Brum with LGD was the last before we, er, became no more. 🤣
  15. HRH mate. My old band supported the guys in Birmingham last year and I hadn’t realised the lineup had changed any. Your lines were great and loud and proud out front at HRH anyhow!
  16. Congratulations! In other news I think I’ve seen you live with Last Great Dreamers this year?
  17. If memory serves I think these had a PJ configuration rather than the original soapbar pups, so from a tonal point of view they’ll have a different vibe about them to the Gibbos. Other than that I can’t be of much help. I’ve a ‘76 Ripper that’s been beaten and modded to hell so won’t sound like either of the above configs! It’s pretty light though!
  18. Lovely. Had I not just splurged on new power and pre-amps you’d have sold this already. GLWTS.
  19. Well, bloody hell. Thank you for inadvertently solving the mystery of what the pickup is that someone put in my much-modded ‘76 Ripper. Always wondered what it was! GLWTS
  20. Well, I don’t know anyone on here, yet have still had nothing but great experiences buying, selling and from posting generally. It’s largely down to a community of decent people. I could count on one hand the number of threads I’ve seen in years on here that have descended into sniping. Most posts on most forums are the opposite of that IME...
  21. A big +1 for the Epiphone Jack Casady. Cracking bass.
