  1. Looked into this a while back and, unless my wine-sodden mind is mistaken (quite possible!), to qualify for payment don’t the venues the artist plays have to be part of the PRS’s gigs and small venues scheme? At the time it seemed to me a stab in the dark (as part of a ‘toilet venue’ level band) as to whether it was worth paying the fee just for performance royalties In those kind of venues as, at least then, I don’t think there was a searchable database of participating venues, at least not prior to sign up.
  2. So, worth picking up seems to be the general consensus. In need of a lightweight head for my ‘octave up’ rig so likely to pull the trigger unless there are any good reasons why not from anyone?
  3. You’ll not have the “what if” questions if you don’t give it a go. You likely will if you don’t give it a whirl. Just my opinion obvs but where opportunity knocks it’s worth opening the door, even if you decide thereafter it’s not for you.
  4. Whore No More. In fact that gig in Brum with LGD was the last before we, er, became no more. 🤣
  5. I’ll stick my old knacker of a Ripper here, just because!
  6. HRH mate. My old band supported the guys in Birmingham last year and I hadn’t realised the lineup had changed any. Your lines were great and loud and proud out front at HRH anyhow!
  7. Congratulations! In other news I think I’ve seen you live with Last Great Dreamers this year?
  8. If memory serves I think these had a PJ configuration rather than the original soapbar pups, so from a tonal point of view they’ll have a different vibe about them to the Gibbos. Other than that I can’t be of much help. I’ve a ‘76 Ripper that’s been beaten and modded to hell so won’t sound like either of the above configs! It’s pretty light though!
  9. Lovely. Had I not just splurged on new power and pre-amps you’d have sold this already. GLWTS.
  10. Well, bloody hell. Thank you for inadvertently solving the mystery of what the pickup is that someone put in my much-modded ‘76 Ripper. Always wondered what it was! GLWTS
  11. Believe it’s due to scars.
  12. Well, I don’t know anyone on here, yet have still had nothing but great experiences buying, selling and from posting generally. It’s largely down to a community of decent people. I could count on one hand the number of threads I’ve seen in years on here that have descended into sniping. Most posts on most forums are the opposite of that IME...
  13. A big +1 for the Epiphone Jack Casady. Cracking bass.
  14. Hey all, I rarely make purchases on a whim these days but I just have, a Hilbish Design Beta pre-amp. I’ve never run a power amp/pre-amp setup before and wondering what power amp suggestions or guidance anyone’s got to kick me off on my voyage of discovery as I’ve not a clue! Thanks in advance.
  15. Resurrecting this thread as, while my heart cries that I don’t have the readies just now myself, this is worthy of sharing. Bloody lovely. https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/right-handed-bass-guitar/fender-fsr-mustang-bass-pj-black-eb-limited-edition?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoPHUoqCq5QIViKztCh3ybw3rEAQYASABEgLvevD_BwE
  16. They were on a little after 8 and it was done for just on 10. Worth sticking around for the lot though for sure, they were ace. Had similar woes as live near Birmingham so up about 5 this morning to get back from Manc for work! Enjoy!
  17. Helmet last night in Manchester. They were flippin’ ace. And Page Hamilton is still rocking a pink ESP.
  18. I’m permanently on BEAD on my P and have been for 15 years or more. Never miss the G tbh, but I’ve got it on my others if I need one... Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys in answer to the question. 65-130 they are, I think. I’d never used them before getting a free restring at GuitarGuitar recently (always used Rotos), but they’re ace.
  19. I’ve canned it a few times, sometimes for a few years. It’s always worked well for me. Alternatively, have you considered (while a little left field) learning a different instrument? I did this with the uke a few years back and, maybe because I wasn’t putting any time or effort into bass, it got my love for playing bass back.
  20. I get pretty damn decent results for a ‘guitar’ signal through the aforementioned T-Rex Quint Machine (does octave up, down and 5th, all of which can be used simultaneously or turned right down). As has been mentioned it sounds weird and ‘wrong’ on its own, but with a Green Russian Muff after it in the chain sounds great.
  21. Don’t think this has been posted, and apols if so, and it’s probs a bit late but as part of their 15th anniversary celebrations GG are offering free Ernie Ball restrings this week (including the weekend I think). Call or email to book in. Lovely fella in the Birmingham store just did my Mustang. Top service and who’d say no to freebie strings, even if they’re not your brand of choice...
  22. That I’m still playing I think.
  23. I’ll take the Mojomojo if still available - PMd
