  1. Am in a bass/drums two piece so split my signal - one bass and one an octave up with dirt for ‘guitar’ sounds. Use a T-Rex Quint for the octave up (also gives the option to mix in a 5th above which helps with power chord sounds) into a Green Russian amongst others...
  2. I’ve now got as many shorties as I do long scale basses, more of you count my Revelation bass vi...
  3. I’d consider a V1 MiniMax then if you can get hold of one. Plenty of power on tap and light as a feather. Resale values are low too, especially after the Thomann blow out when they were selling them off a little while back. Think I picked mine up new for about £160...
  4. Peavey MiniMax is an option if you’re not after something top end...
  5. I had one of the isobaric 2x12 Orange Terror Bass combos for a while. Stupidly loud for it’s small size if you can find one used. But otherwise yeah, BF plus micro head, of which there are plenty of very decent options.
  6. Neil Young and Old Black. Not the only guitar he uses (White Falcon, Hank Williams old Martin D-28 etc) but Old Black has been his main electric since the late 60s...
  7. Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys (65-130). Had the nut filed for the wider strings. Plays and sounds a dream and always has.
  8. I love having a bass strung BEAD and have had one this way for 20 years or so. Can’t comment on any other makes and models but it worked a treat on the two mid-90s Japanese Precisions I’ve done it to.
  9. YES! Very, very interested in one of these.
  10. Briefly looked at both of these a while back and seem to remember the nut width is different but don’t think there’s much other than that.
  11. The Vintage Jaco tributes (V74MRJP) are a lot of bass for the money. I picked mine up used for about £140 if memory serves. Very decent starting point.
  12. MG and Ashdown are so great. That reminds me, my ABM400 needs a service...
  13. I love a deal and generally buy secondhand stuff. My favourite deals? Probs the £350 I paid for my ‘76 Ripper about 15 years ago, and the £275 I paid for my Jap Foto flame Precision, which is my absolute favourite bass of all time. New stuff a deal is harder to come by and I generally end up moving new stuff on.
  14. “I’m not gonna get all weird”, says bloke who spent the previous 4 minutes getting all weird. Move on, Roger. Everyone else has...
  15. Having read this thread my long held view that I just can’t fully trust wall hangers enough to use them remains steadfast,
  16. Cool and thank you - I’ll definitely have it off you if you do have a change of heart. I’ve been thinking of picking one up for a while to give it a whirl in my bass and drums two piece. All the best.
  17. No clue on these but I’ve found that a Dano Longhorn is pretty on the money in terms of body dimensions and weight for my just turned 8 year old lad. New they’re a tad overpriced imo, but I hunted about and found an eBay bargain for £160. Weighs nowt and s/s so it’s ideal.
  18. That punk still annoys some people after all these years is very...punk. Likewise a man who’s been dead nearly 20 years. There are a few rather ‘un-BC’ comments on this thread. Shame that...
