  1. Given I’d already got a MIM PJ Mustang this new addition was very much a decision based on aesthetics. It is lovely though. Shall be switching out the scratchplate screws for black ones too...
  2. I swear by the Voodoo Labs stuff personally. The thing with the cheaper units is, while they say isolated each individual port rarely is, and I’d rather pay the extra to keep things nice and quiet, though that said I do run a bunch of pedals So am particularly mindful of that. But, if that isn’t a deal breaker Mooer also do one that’s tiny (same size as their main range of pedals) so might be worth a look. About £50 new on the ‘bay if memory serves, significantly cheaper than elsewhere.
  3. I don’t play bass much at home, tend to play more 6 string then bass when rehearsing with my band. That said, on occasions where I am having a bit of a noodle I like something that gets me working across the strings. Midnight Train to Georgia is a particular fave, just genius from Bob Babbitt.
  4. No probs. And fingers crossed for both of us! Mine’s ‘due’ tomorrow.
  5. Seem to remember posting about these none more black FSR Mustangs a while back. Well, Bax have a restock it seems. Bloody good price too. If you’re lucky you might also be able to get a 5% discount code by signing up to their newsletter too. From viewing a recent post it seems their customer service isn’t always the best. But at that price I’m looking forward to receiving mine this week... https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/right-handed-bass-guitar/fender-fsr-mustang-bass-pj-black-eb-limited-edition
  6. Crackers. 10 page thread that the majority of people on here will largely have seen. Bolting the stable door etc etc. To the OP - Not sure at this stage what you want by way of resolution. If you want to reject the bass and seek a refund - if you paid by PayPal and it was goods and services consider registering a case with PayPal. if you paid by credit card consider contacting your card provider and/or investigating if any Visa or MasterCard (the rules differ by each) chargeback rights exist.
  7. Ah, thanks man. Like waiting for a bus etc etc...just nabbed one off another BCer this very afternoon...
  8. If I was spending €2k+ on an instrument and I was anything other than 100% bowled over and any issues hadn’t been swiftly resolved within a couple of days of raising them I’d have already returned it and asked for a refund. Completely take into account (and don’t disagree really) the points people have raised but €2k is a hell of a lot of dough. That spend to then only be maybe 70-80% satisfied is nowhere close to acceptable to me...
  9. Duck was an amazing player. I was fortunate to see him twice as part of a pseudo MGs backing Neil Young. And I do feel very fortunate indeed to have done so.
  10. Am in a bass/drums two piece so split my signal - one bass and one an octave up with dirt for ‘guitar’ sounds. Use a T-Rex Quint for the octave up (also gives the option to mix in a 5th above which helps with power chord sounds) into a Green Russian amongst others...
  11. I’ve now got as many shorties as I do long scale basses, more of you count my Revelation bass vi...
  12. I’d consider a V1 MiniMax then if you can get hold of one. Plenty of power on tap and light as a feather. Resale values are low too, especially after the Thomann blow out when they were selling them off a little while back. Think I picked mine up new for about £160...
  13. Peavey MiniMax is an option if you’re not after something top end...
  14. I had one of the isobaric 2x12 Orange Terror Bass combos for a while. Stupidly loud for it’s small size if you can find one used. But otherwise yeah, BF plus micro head, of which there are plenty of very decent options.
  15. Neil Young and Old Black. Not the only guitar he uses (White Falcon, Hank Williams old Martin D-28 etc) but Old Black has been his main electric since the late 60s...
  16. Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys (65-130). Had the nut filed for the wider strings. Plays and sounds a dream and always has.
  17. I love having a bass strung BEAD and have had one this way for 20 years or so. Can’t comment on any other makes and models but it worked a treat on the two mid-90s Japanese Precisions I’ve done it to.
  18. YES! Very, very interested in one of these.
  19. Briefly looked at both of these a while back and seem to remember the nut width is different but don’t think there’s much other than that.
  20. The Vintage Jaco tributes (V74MRJP) are a lot of bass for the money. I picked mine up used for about £140 if memory serves. Very decent starting point.
  21. Another +1 for an MIJ.
  22. MG and Ashdown are so great. That reminds me, my ABM400 needs a service...
  23. Love the look of that.
